I was an atheist for 25+ years. Also hated Christians. But in August 2020, broken, hurt, confused, I decided to make a desperate prayer. "God, I don't know if you're real, but if you are, show me - and I will follow you. I cannot live like this anymore." A short while later, that's when I experienced the Holy Spirit come upon me, physically. Like electricity. I saw a vision too, of Jesus. In his hands there was living water of light (back then I didn't even know this was mentioned in the Bible). That's when I knew God was real, Jesus is real. And I gave my life to Christ since that day. I signed up to become a missionary for YWAM soon after. Life has been so much better. Yes, there are struggles still. But living my days knowing there is a living God who loves each of us, who still speaks to us, who can do signs and wonders and will never forsake us - it makes all the difference in the world. I'm a former athiast. Raised in the church but ran as soon as I could. I didn't get back for almost 20 years. During that time I became an addict. Alcohol was my god for a long time. I went to rehab and then I went to church. The same church I grew up in accepted me even when I told every member what my life had been. Jesus was with me that night. I know my past isn't easy to digest but they all are there for me when I struggle. The church is family. We are family but we can't turn people away for any reason. I was turned away alot in my addiction by the churches around me. But my home church showed me how to show people the peace I found the love. Im literally crying right now. This is the first time ive heard this song. Im a drug addict in recovery. I grew up in church, a southern baptist church, and the people there were so judgmental. But i went to events like Aquire the Fire and World Changers and i felt that connection so strong. The energy in those stadiums and auditoriums literally gave me cold chills. I loved it. But i strayed off. My dad, the deacon of my church, cheated on my mom, the treasurer, with the piano player at my church and with that and all the judgement i got because i was a skateboarder with long hair and tighter pants was really off putting. Im almost 27, i was on drugs for 13 years and ive been clean 9 months tomorrow and for so long ive felt like ive just been a shell of a person. When someone has tried to talk to me about jesus ive had a little bit of resentment. Not towards God, although i have had the thought a few times in active addiction of "why would this be Gods plan for me" or "if youre real please take me away from this" but i never stopped believing in Him. Only the people at church i stopped believing in, and i know everyone at church isnt that way but i had a lot of negative encounters with church goers. When i was detoxing off of fentynal in the hospital, having seizures and hallucinations, i prayed the entire time for God to help me through it and he answered that prayer and because of that, im alive. I know without his help, i wouldnt have been strong enough to make it through. This song though, the words, ive felt exactly like this for so long and i think i know why now. "All my life ive been told i belong at the end of the line, with all the other 'not quites' with all the 'never get it rights' but it turns out theyre the ones you were looking for all this time" has never felt more true in my life. Thank you for this. God is so good and without a doubt is the reason im alive.

If their hearts were a window that they could look through, oh the pains and scars they would see. What a cruel fate the skin gives as a mask to the inward pain.
