This is a terrific mod for people who are not me. As with many of this type of mod it is going to speak to certain people and they will be in love with it right away. That said, I can appreciate all the work in it and will certainly recommend it to all those who are not me. As I look around I get the vibe (probably incorrectly) that the castle has grown organically as a build as the modder played with it and tried things out. Recognizing that, it prompts me to put this one on my tracker list as something to keep checking in on to see how it evolves. Given the level of effort put in so far it could very well evolve into the perfect place for me down the road. Gives me an excuse to keep checking in for a refresher tour and oooo ahhhh at where it goes next. In the meantime there are plenty of people who are not me who are loading it as fast as the internet will permit as soon as Febs video has ended. Maybe it will be that awesome forging area, or the fantastic waterfall fed indoor pool or maybe the smell of fresh roasted skeever (just like mom used to make) wafting up from the basement but whatever grabs them and brings them joy with this build is a win as far as I am concerned.
@FebrithDarkstar4 жыл бұрын
Same here, I can appreciate the hard work but just not my cup of tea to actually live in. Plus, I do like a bit of interaction with my homes, running water, soils, that sort of thing - plus I've never been fond of roast skeever :D

I think the throne room is a little too full crowded with junk. Adding more npc's to the mod maybe even a copy of the jarls would dining at a table in the throne room would have been better than have weapon racks and mannequins. Either that or if they had the blades lined up in formation going towards the throne.
@BionicleJackson4 жыл бұрын
I had made an apt response to this video yesterday, unfortunately phones being what they are today it was relegated to deletion and I thusly had to remove myself from the aggravation of my modernized conversational apparatus in what by no means was a hostile manner. I think the exterior of this castle is quite exquisite and watching the review I found myself thinking I would very much like to park a campsite in the outside gardens area and partake in the consumption of charred Dova Bunny haunch with friends. I could envision going inside the monolithic structure finding what was once a lavish and prosperous hold now ravaged by time and decay. Full of webs and devoid of light aside from the occasional beam from the heavens through windows and cracks in a failing structure. Inside my compatriots and I would fine amongst the strewn artifacts and belongings of the long gone inhabitants, the rodents and insects of every size flourishing in the cool damp corners of this Nordic cave...and...something else. Some dark power must be at work in such a place for the mannequins, the armored displays of a once proud people seem to walk among this place. We don't see them move yet they are never in the place they once were. They are at war! They seem to be aligned as is the armor perched upon them so many years prior. What could make such a thing thus? why? Would they inevitably turn on us or are we merely pawns to fear? That's what I got out of this review anyhow but my mind may have wondered a bit
@FebrithDarkstar4 жыл бұрын
Oh noes! Not bunny haunch. I knew I was gonna get into trouble for leaving that footage in hehe:) Quite right. And if I wasn't a pawn to fear before reading your post, I am now. Mannequins are terrifying at the best of times lol.

@@FebrithDarkstar You're the bestest and awesomeset precisely because you leave them little bits in there (There's other stuff but you don't want to contract Big Head Syndrome so...). As I said I love the look of this place, there's just soo much of it and it is quite hit and miss. Mani is always gona mani and as I started loosing interest about 9 minutes in I found myself trying to rationalize. The throne room is over the top but there is absolutely zero reason to try and find it more than once. I try and give places purpose in my game and the above was what I came up with to even consider replacing any of the Riverwood mods I use now or would like to incorporate in future playthroughs.
@FebrithDarkstar4 жыл бұрын
I think that's a good point and is the main reason why certain homes end up staying my whole play through and others don't. If I find something about it to be spit-on-your-neck-fantastic then they stay!

Yep its a nice place and you know how I try to avoid large castles. Its got it all, especially money. And its a little better put together than some of the other piles out there. The thing is you can see where the creator fused together the inside the palace of Solitude with one of the grotto adventures (without the all the wolves and bears that mission requires you to kill) and a couple of other locations. But he could a better job fusing it together. I remember a bandit adventure that needed to be completed before you returned to get the key. Oh well - Cheers and good hunting, wishing many good things from the other side of the World. 8 ))

MY opinion. This mod is a combp mod , castle Riverwood, Draco's Castle and one otherthat escapes me. MY biggest gripe is that for its size + material , outside Riverwood without integrating the village with it, well I do not like this mod. Riverwood Keep is the better of the 3 SSE mods that put a castle in that spot.

Fair enough - that one is more to my liking too - also you get the craftable armour!
@RobertVlcek4 жыл бұрын
It's not just you thinking the rooms look a bit barren. They are. It's the problem of most of these large home mods. They are large for being large, great hall, grand armories, grand... whatever, but then the mod authors seem a bit lost when it comes to decorations. And yes, there is a lot of work been done but still, the concepts are, nice, mostly functional, in the case of Sjel Blad, that's cool, stuffed with things but because of it's size feels also a bit empty despite being crowded with NPCs. I can get behind a bigger mansion or castle if the rooms are actually used... For example, I'm rewatching Merlin right now and they used this large French castle, Chateau Pierrefonds. But some sets look a bit empty and not because of the fact that it was empty back in the days but probably because the crew wasn't allowed to change a lot. Or didn't have the money for it. Or a combination of both. So, this is what a castle shouldn't like - btw. Gaius's workshop, the court physician, looks like a room should look like. Probably because it's an original set. Now, there are mod examples you showcased with mansions and smaller castle like structures like LC-build your noble house, that aren't large just for the sake of it. But they make use of the actual structures. I like some high fantasy stuff but having large buildings just to have them... No, not really. Many feel empty, barren and lifeless to me. Yes, I was nagging again. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the showcase as always.
@FebrithDarkstar4 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it Robert and you make an excellent point, large isn't always better, particularly if you're really not using the space and it's just "there" for the sake of it.
@RobertVlcek4 жыл бұрын
@@FebrithDarkstar I do 🤗 even if I don't have much to say 😅 Sometimes it feels a bit like nagging about the incredible amount of work when I write this stuff. If this is something people like, be my guest, it's just my personal opinion. Anyway I somehow hope that mod authors take my comments to the heart because I see so much good ideas and potential in many mods that is a bit underused.

I don't know if it's just me, but I didn't impressed with the castle at all. It is like the author trying to fit all places and all style from different skyrim holds to one big castle. It just want to look big, massive in a wrong direction. The layout of some of the room/chamber of the castle literally a copy paste of vanilla building. Like the glorious throne chamber with leaking water under it, it is actually the same layout with Palace of the Kings where Ulfric reside. I see the main chamber of Solitude's Blue Palace on the latter part of video, it connect to backyard spring where actually it is a modified copy of Bloated Man's Grotto (where u kill Sinding the werewolf from Falkreath). A college of winterhold Arch mage quarter (you can't miss it's unique stairs). Overused of aedric and daedric statues, every chamber in this castle has it's own squad of mannequin and dozens of weapon rack just to fill every corner of the room, random placing of ladder lead to the same rooftop, confusing layout, it's location too close and blocked some part of Riverwood exterior, etc. Anyway, congrats on 4k subs Feb!! Are you planning to make another vlog on 5k subs dear Feb?
