I am Irish American and attended University College Galway for a year in the 1970's. What a magical experience that was. It is a part of me now. Everything in this video is true and more. Ireland has one foot in this world and one foot in the next world. True as can be.

My home town in Ireland was founded in approximately the year 555/558 CE. Though communities or tribes had inhabited this area for millenia due to archaeological discoveries. Everywhere you walk on this island, the dead lie beneath your feet from hundreds of years old, to thousands of. There are so many ghosts, we frequently see and hear beyond the veil.

I had the honor of meeting Sean Ryan and visiting Leap Castle in February 2016. The Castle has come a long way since the documentary came out. Sean even played his instruments for me as we sat in front of the fire. Respectable man and beautiful home, one day I hope to return visit and meet his family again.

I've only just started watching this but I already love it due to that indefinable 90s feel of the production. I love 1990s TV programs like this. They feel so much more... I don't know... sincere(?), than most of this sort of stuff today. I vaguely remember watching this as a kid. Good times.

That’s an awesome experience you had. I had a similar situation when my maternal grandmother passed away. We lived five hours apart and because of vehicle problems, I had been unable to visit her in her last days. I was lying on my couch when I felt her hands caressing my face. I couldn’t see her but I knew it had been her hands as she had extremely rough palms, literally like sandpaper. I immediately called my mom and found out grandma had just passed away a couple minutes before I called.

People keep talking about this "old style" documentary, and the nostalgia for the 90's. Sheesh, I remember when this documentary was new! It inspired me to visited Leap Castle a few years after this came out. I met the owner. He gave us a little tour of the place and showed us the bloody chapel and the oubliette. Fantastic. I am from Ireland. I had seen some ghosts in places. Not all of them are not as ghoulish as imagined. Only some are. I saw one ghost of a lady in a nursing home that was once a workhouse. She came to me, just to thank me for what I had done for her elderly daughter who was in her 90s. For a ghost, the lady was very beautiful to look at, not at all scary or ghoulish in appearance. She was glamorously dressed in a vintage fashion of WWII era. Her colours were semi-transparent, yet glowing and sparkling. To look at, she shone like a stain glass window glowing on a sunniest day. Her smile was sunny, her manners warm. She was that kind of ghost who can put anyone at ease and make one feel at home with her. After thanking me, she faded into thin air.

*****, I know what you are thinking. ALL ghosts are stereotyped as scary in books and films. I had seen different types: a few grotesques of the worst kinds and few souls from Heaven and few in between. I was even touched by some and can well know the differences in their touches. Last year, one had touched me on the left hand with such icy coldness that the cold pains shot through my arm. My hand stiffened and curled inward. It took me 5 long minutes to warm up my freezing cold hand under my armpit. A year since, my left arm has been weak in strength. I've lived in few haunted houses. In the first house, I was attacked by a demonic spirit and saved by another spirit of a different kind. The latter spirit came many times into my life to save me from further demonic attacks, also from criminals, fire, choking, few heart attacks, etc. This ghostly guardian had about 20 times saved me from dangers. When I choke, this ghost just opens wide my windpipe and helps me breathe with ease. His touch lacks coldness. It is always lukewarm. Over 10 years ago, I sustained a serious head injury during demonic attacks. My skull was fractured, scalp torn open. I was very close to death before my guardian quickly placed his cupped hands over my heart and restored my life. In second haunted house, the atmosphere was totally different from the first. I was well accepted by the family of ghosts. First few nights were scary. When I realised how harmless ghosts were in the second house, I relaxed more. I knew this through my guardian. It was how he spoke to them. My fears of them lessened. One of house ghosts overheard my prayers for my deceased relations and politely interrupted me with a request: "Please pray for me too." The sadness in this ghost's voice has since made me pray for souls. I always remember prayers for ghosts on All Souls' Day. The time when I was in the second haunted house, I was afraid of all ghosts except my guardian, as I was that unaccustomed to hauntings. Years before that, I had bad experiences with a demon in the first house. It took me few years time to acclimatise to my guardian's presence. This guardian first came to me in response to my prayer for deliverance. Now in another house, my guardian is still with me. He even has a chair near my bed. It is reserved for him. He comes and goes. Whenever my guardian is around, he increases my sense of safety. Whenever I am attacked or approached by unfamiliar spirit, I just call my guardian. Half of my family know about him. He too saved their lives and my friends' lives as well.

TruthAlways- i can relate. when i worked in a rehab hospital, i was closing the windows in an empty room and as i passed the bathroom, i saw a little old lady standing in there. it was only a quick glimpse, but she seemed to glow warmly. she was more hazy than transparent; it was her candle-glow color that sticks out most in my memory. i wasn't scared, but i was shaking from the adrenalin rush of seeing so clear an apparition. over the course of my lifetime, i've had as many as twenty paranormal/ difficult to explain encounters, but few so definite as that one.
@wingspan9842

TruthAlways That is amazing. You call your guardian a Guardian. I am assuming you mean Guardian Angel, am I correct? I know a person who also had a Guardian Angel enter their life too. They claim to be able to hear the Angel voice, the Angel is a male to them, they know when the Angel enters the room regardless of where they may be, can feel the Angel sit next to them, has been touched by the Angel, although they cannot see him, and has helped by the Angel when needed. However, they have never seen their Guardian Angel. Nor have they tried to pray to this Angel. I have two questions, (1), have you seen your Guardian? Or do you know he is a male because he has a male voice. (2) Are you male or female? I assume Guardian Angels are the opposite sex of the living being that is approached by one. It is a fascinating topic to me. Hopefully, you will return to answer these questions.

TruthAlways I know I'm way late in this conversation But I have a story. It was right after my daughter was born in 1990. We were living in an apartment. My husband was upstairs sleeping and I had just got done feeding my baby. I went upstairs to go to bed also. I laid down in bed and was only laying there for maybe two minutes so I KNOW I was still awake and NOT dreaming Anyway this all BLACK figure was all of a sudden over/on top of me He put his hands on my breasts and said "I hope my rude awakening didn't scare you" then "it" was just gone. The weird thing about it though was even though it was all black I could see that it's hair line around the edges was styled like my husbands It scared the tar out of me I sat on the steps leading to our bedroom for hours before I could bring myself to go back to bed. I never saw it after that. What do you think it was? If it was all black it must have been evil right?

+Brandon Kennedy Holy crap, I remember watching that show! They got rid of the original narrator and replaced him with Michelle Trachtenberg. They also made a point of that too, with the opening credits always saying "Hosted by Michelle Trachtenberg from 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer.'"

My Grandparents came from Ireland in the early 1920’s, and my Grandma from my earliest recollections would tell us Ghost stories all of the time, and she is the reason why I, til this very day, am fascinated with the supernatural and the horror genre…Thanks grandma;-)

I live in a generation house just me with my girlfriend. Its haunted. Asked my mom about one of our experiences. Regarding waking up late at night hearing footsteps and crying. My mom got angry when I told her about the experience. Have also noticed that our water boiler has started of by its self. Iv had 3 diferent ones in 6 years. We can hear the relay go off even if its not pluged in. And waking up at 3am with the smell of coffee in the air. Some time it feels like some kind of cold energy drains all heat from the room. Visitors have been telling me about strange sounds.

A magnificent documentary, mesmerizing mysticism and many interesting historical facts about ancient castles, unfortunately that today there are so few of such good and stylish video reports on this subject! Perhaps, for this program You will need subtitles in other languages too? If you think this is a good idea, I will be glad to hear from you.

Lol, yes, sadly I do agree!! Most are either dramatic over stupid things or don't even care about really important things. It's pretty embarrassing and very sad. Americans have gotten so selfish over the years. If it makes you feel better, a lot of us are trying to make things better if it's even possible now.

Only those who live on the very fringes of Earth's habitable landmass have not been greatly disturbed, the Inuit, aboriginal Australians and some remote Amazonian tribes for example. It's not unique to us Irish.

Hi. My Great-Grandparents were born in County Cork, Dublin, Ireland. They were the Hughes. My paternal Great-Grandma, was Anna Gallagher. We called her Dranna, and she only spoke Gaelge.' I never knew she could speak any English, because I could understand her. I was very little at the time. I am loving this history of Irelands' Castles. Though scary & very tragic.

See the thing is, is we're no longer in the Industrial age. We're in the age of technology. And with that advancement comes the ability to make things accessible faster. So it makes the general public in direct competition with things a computer has made obsolete. So really, "sweetie" we're not meaner, we're more stressed to make a living. Always working to keep a home and to keep our bosses happy. Otherwise they'll just get a computer to do it. That or the sheer fact we're always going to compare the past to the present. The grass is always greener in the past only because the future is unknown. And that scares people. in 50 years I guarantee there's going to be another Dillon Rust who thinks times of today were better.
