Ditto. That’s - along with David Tomlinson thrown in - was the reason I decided to watch this.

As a kid in the late 60s through the mid 70s, our local( NJ, NYC, PHILA) affiliates run these, mostly from 10am, through 2pm. My first exposure to you Brits. B&W films are the best. Our cousins across the Pond.

The script is full of gems and the cast delivers them brilliantly.

Adorable! Thank you! The year I was born. My family are from Ireland. The men often went to Scotland in search of work.

Yes. My Great Grandfather went from Tipperary to Glasgow. And became a miner. My Grandfather and my Father also were miners. But my Dad came to England as young man. And met my Mother.

In one scene early in the film a character remarks that a portrait of Bonnie Prince Charlie looks more like David Niven. He had played Bonnie Prince Charlie in the film of the same name in 1948.

I wish they hadn't made Margaret attempt a Scottish accent: her actual accent was so memorable. Apart from that mistake, it's a charming film.
@jayawilder3835Ай бұрын
I thought her scottish accent was quite convincing, given that she was playing a genteel person and not a peasant. Sort of Balmoral by way of Morningside. I'm a Scot.

New year's day at 2.30am in the UK and longing for our country to be like it was before stupid politicians and woke nonsense took over. Sure, it wasn't perfect but it was a whole lot safer and nicer to live here.😢

Only MAGA l u n a t i c s use the word "woke". Nothing they say is correct. They just want to spread their internal hatred as much as they can.

Anyone who doesn't like this delightful bit of fluff should go back to The Three Stooges. And if you didn't find the humor then you weren't paying attention.
