Marco, thank you very much for your reviews, particularly all of them. My son and I are trying to play Dungeons and Dragons Starter set ( Red Box ) but we cannot organize our mind on how to even start the game. If you have the chance, please do a special with this D&D. We will highly appreciate your help, because you explain very well the games. Thanks, Antonio Cavicchioni

I'd like to see WotC release the Temple of Elemental Evil in this format. That is by far my most favorite epic adventure in the D&D universe. This includes return the the temple of elemental evil.

@macrosss: YES, you can mix and match anything from the different sets, and use the materials to create your own scenarios. Great flexibility!

I just got my hands on Castle Ravenloft two days ago. At first I wasn't sure where to start but watching your videos couple fo times I have decided I start with the first game in series, hopefully I'll be able to get the other as well. And right from the start I have to admit I love the system. After playing various complex game system it's refreshing to have one that doesn't take months to learn and play right. So I really wanted to thank you Marco for helping me decide with your brilliant reviews of all the games.

Great review. Got 2 questions, is it possible if i really like one hero from a specific box and I'd like to play then in scenarios from different boxes? and if i could make some changes and make a combination with all boxes and create my own scenario and so on

Thank you for taking the time to compare Castle Ravenloft to Wrath of Ashardalon...I have been wanting to try one of them and you helped be make, what I feel, is now an 'informed' decision. Eventualy I would like to obtain both to expand on Wrath of Ashardalon. Your reviews are informative, and well executed.

@Ryutarockz: Ashardalon and Drizzt, about $60 each at my FLGS. Ravenloft, I received a free review copy from the publisher.

One of the things I didn't like about Castle Ravenloft is that something dangerous happens every single turn. There is absolutely no respite. There's no sense of creeping through a dark, dank dungeon--it's a constant onslaught of monsters and event cards from turn 1. I love the dungeon tiles, though, and will probably find some way to incorporate them in regular D&D.

I bought two copies of this just for the miniatures alone. Skellys, undead, wolves, spiders, kobolds, rats & gargoyles. You cant go wrong with that. Practically every D&D Campaign uses at leaset one of those. Definitely cant go wrong with this box set! =)

New player here. I'm interested in playing castle ravenloft bord game however I would like to play with other heros characters. Any tips on where to look to find either pre generated chacter or resources to make my own?

Great review. Can I ask you a rules question? When a monster moves adjacent to an exploring hero does it always move onto the hero's tile? This could be advantageous when the hero wants to perform a tile attack like the dragonborn's "cleave" but less good when the monster is a wraith. In that case you would want it to be adjacent to the exploring hero but on the newly explored tile, not the hero's tile (because of the death shriek). I believe the rules keep mum about this.

Drizzt, for sure. Coolest characters, most interesting terrain tiles.

heroes in this series only upgrade from first to second level. I *guess* you can start a game with 2nd-level heroes from a previous game, but I don't think the rules say anything about it.

The black cat in your bookshelf looks great. A very nice review. The game looks interesting, too bad the miniatures are so "cheap", I would prefer they were like the ones of Heroscape.

Hey i got a question in Ravenloft can you upgrade or increase your heros stats like intelligence or strength? Can you take your hero from a previous game on in a new game with its old stats?

first of all, this is really a great review and while watching it all of my questions were resolved. but i want to ask one more thing; there are three board games - Wrath of Ashardalon , Drizzt and Castle Ravenloft. Which one is the most entertaining and which is the best ? Cuz i wanna buy one of them as soon as possible. and also there is another game which is called Gears of War. would you recommend it as well ? thnk you

@AntonioCavicchioni run through the character creation adventure and you will get a good idea how the game works. Also, you should get a couple more people to play because one player has to be the DM, or the referee/storyteller. It's a great game. Good luck and have fun.

Cant wait for tomb of annihilation. My copy is on its way when released. If you can paint at all.never buy the prepainted version imo. The most basic of paint jobs is better than the factory stuff.

@Tapewormz I completely disagree. I think Drizzt is a great character. His backstory separates him from most of the other cookie cutter characters in fantasy fiction. To each his own I guess.

Only thing I don't like about Ravenloft is the inclusion of the Dragonborn as a playable character. Call me old fashioned, but I just don't enjoy Eberron. It's a petty peeve, otherwise I enjoy this system and this particular box.

@marcowargamer Drizzt...yargh... Drizzt and R.A Salvatore are to fantasy fiction/gaming as Twilight and Stephanie Meyer are to Vampire mythology and fantasy. Drizzt just grinds on my nerves. The whole concept of the character is just annoying. It's like say the antichrist turning his back on his hell, then becoming a missionary in africa. I like forgotten realms fantasy, just not Drizzt. :)
