A little disappointed you guys fixated so much on Alucard's name being backwards for Dracula that you missed the whole segment about how the Speakers intentionally kept stalling about leaving partly in order to keep Trevor around to fulfill the prophecy of waking up Alucard. So for those who complained about that in episode 3 it turns out they weren't being dumb back then, they were thinking ahead of everyone 😅

I wanted to mention before that I love how Trevor and Dracula essentially start in the same place. They both resent everyone and are trying to convince themselves they couldn’t care less is they all died for what they did to them, Trevor for his home and family, Dracula for Lisa. I always thought that was interesting.

It was also said dhampir would often become hunters of witches and vampires, so most dhampir in popular fiction fall into this vein (no pun intended): Alucard, D from "Vampire Hunter D", and Blade from the Marvel comics. Heck, in one of the old Gameboy Castlevania prequel games (now considered non-canon), Sophia Belmont and Alucard has a child, which is how the Belmonts gained their power to fight monsters.

The complete deconstruction of the Bishop's delusions of piety and righteousness is still one of my favorite scenes in the show. And with the humble priest being able to make actual holy water, we see that there are sacred powers in this world, not just the infernal, but that the will of the church can be a very different thing than the will of god.

In Castlevania 3, Alucard is recruited after you fight him in an underground lair; where he was sleeping in a coffin. We also get a reference to the holy water sub weapon, as well as two of Sypha's spells in the game (fire and ice). Another nod to game, is that if you use Sypha's ice spell on water stages, it will freeze the water solid; making the level considerably easier. There was one more character you could recruit in Casltevania 3, Grant Danast, but sadly he was left out of the show; although he does get referenced at the start of season 3.

6:45 - The people were fine with murder because they were living their lives until hordes of monsters descended upon them and butchered everyone they loved without explanation and they were angry and terrified, so the Church deflected blame upon the Speakers to keep their focus away from them (anger and revenge are the easiest qualities to manipulate in society). So once Trevor revealed the Church was responsible they not only knew who was truly to blame but it was the very Church they'd served their entire lives, so to them their anger was reinforced by betrayal. When society's pillars collapse and enough people are pissed off notions of good and bad are thrown out the window whatever the consequences. The French Revolution is a good example of that.

20:10 You don't know but the reason why Alucard didn't come out in the whole season was because a blow from Dracula's claws destroys any normal vampire since he is practically the king of the race and nobody can beat him, Alucard was the first to stand up against dracula his father for saving humans because if you look when dracula's wife was dying she screamed to have mercy on them and not to hurt them, she was begging to her son "alucard" because she knew he was there seeing everything and his mother knew that he would kill everyone for it. since his son is the second most powerful and lethal vampire in the entire kingdom.

God does indeed exist in Castlevania, or at least it very much seems that way. The Grim Reaper being a legit character in this franchise kinda helps that theory, as well as the fact that even the demons and evil characters seem to believe he exists. Hence why a good Priest, like the one who helps Trevor and the townsfolk fight the demon things actually does make working Holy Water
