I have a soft spot for Hector. He is a sad character, Isaac isn't wrong when he says that he's a child in a man's body . He sees things in a very childlike (even if it's dark) way, and he's easy to manipulate because of it, which is why he "flipped" so fast. Carmilla knows what to say to him, because she's the epitome of gaslight gatekeep girlboss lmao

Hector wasn't a flip. He preferred dark creatures, but knew that needlessly killing was wrong. That was why he was told they were culling and containing. He was told a lie and followed the path the lie was on because he was concerned not only for humanity, but also for Dracula going to far. That is why he in his innocent mind trusted carmela
@batsignal3469 Жыл бұрын
Hector represents the emotional side of his brain and Isaac represents his logical side. So if you think about Dracula let's Hector betray him because he feels what he is doing is wrong. That's why he talked to Isaac and not Hector because he knows if he talks to Hector he could be persuaded to give up on it.

Idk if anyone here remembers the 2004 movie Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale. The movie explains that the reason Dracula/vampires don’t have a reflection in the mirror is because every mirror suddenly becomes a mystical portal or door of some sort. It was so cool to see the same concept applied here i just got nostalgic lmaoooo
@Volkrad Жыл бұрын
It was actually just the mirror in the in Valerious castle, other mirrors don't turn into portals. I don't remember if in the original Castlevania games mirror-portals were a thing, but in the reboot Castlevania Lords of Shadow mirror-portals were indeed a thing they may have taken inspiration from Van Helsing for that game, and the show may have taken inspiration from Lords of Shadow

The reason Issac took down Godbrand so effortlessly is because his whip is a "holy instrument" he wasn't joking when he said the self flaggelation was holy work. Well RIP to Godbrand, he stated his intentions to the wrong forgemaster. Isaac doesn't care about humans, he knows it's a genocide and he's okay about it, too loyal to Dracula to turn on him. Hector however has already been lied to, so it's easier for Camilla to manipulate him for her own plans.

Isaac is my favourite character. Hector is the most naive and complicated character. Two diametrically opposed characters who have their own interpretations of Dracula’s will. Hector annoys me because of how gullible he is and he ends up paying for it later. Isaac on the other hand is so stringent in his thinking that you can threaten him with death and he’ll just smile. The show wouldn’t be the same without either of them.

I was saddened they killed Godbrand so early. He was far more nuanced than I expected. He is boisterous and brash, but also thoughtful and strategic, and surprisingly diplomatic when he wants to be. He was foolish here in speaking his thoughts to the wrong person. I would have loved for Godbrand to have died in the end of the season at least. Me personally I did end up liking Godbrand more than Carmela. I liked her at first, but the third and final seasons killed her character for me. Dracula is a great villain and he can understand how his subordinates are gradually turning against him. I found it interesting how Dracula wants to die, but also take both humanity and the vampires with him. It is like he is punishing all life for his loss. I wish we had gotten more of the other vampires part of the war council. These episodes are great and I love the vampires, Issac, and Hector’s interactions. I can only imagine how much more we could have gotten if the other vampires were more than just background characters.

in the original series the mirror of erised was never in the room of requirement, harry found it in some abandoned classroom one day when he was just kinda wandering around hogwarts then they moved it somewhere more hidden cause people would get obsessed over it, which turned out to be some secret catacomb of hogwarts somewhere under cerberus where harry ran into quirrel in the first movie. although according to the internet it is mentioned at some point that it USED to be stored in the room of requirement for a long time i think during the fantastic beasts movies but idk cause i haven't watched past the second one also in the deathly hallows part 2 i think its in the room of requirement in the background of a scene with draco and harry before the fire snake thing but idk they might have just reused the prop cause they needed junk to fill the room with.

You're getting a small peak into Isaac's inner madness; born from his past abuse, and hatred of humanity as a whole. This episode basically sets up part of the prologue of Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. In the prologue, Hector turned on Dracula (having had enough of his brutal ways) and abandoned him during the events of Castelvania 3; so Hector's heel turn, this episode, isn't too surprising.

IMO, the relationship between Hector, Isaac and Dracula is more accurate to describe in terms of "perceived equality" rather than "friendship status." I think Dracula is a "friend" of both Isaac and Hector and he does care about them both to comparable extents, but the major difference in Dracula's relationship with Hector versus his relationship with Isaac is more about how Dracula can't engage with them in the same way or to the same extents. Isaac is closest to being a like-minded peer while Hector is someone Dracula admires for his honestly and purity, like an adult admiring the honesty of a child free from the cynicism and pollution of having lived an adult life. Much in the same way that an adult can be friends with a child but not engage with them as "equals," Dracula values Hector for what he is but he's not able to engage with him on his level without lying or pretending due to his own flaws and jaded nature. The adult may value and love the child deeply, and the child may be (arguably) inherently the better person between the two even, but adults are generally too jaded by the events of their lives to truly connect with children as friends, because they view the world from a much more straight-forward point of view which "adults" just can't get back to. To Dracula, Isaac is an equal and Hector is an ideal, both treasured but valued and engaged with differently from each other.

I love the fact that even the horses the vampires use look demonic. Also I don't want to spoil anything if you haven't finished but I wish we actually got scenes with flashbacks showing if Alucard had a good relationship with Isaac and Hector before the war that we see on this show. Of course we know that since these vampires and forgemasters are on Dracula's side they're obviously enemies during the show. But it would be cool to see how Dracula's life was with his family and friends before the church killed Lisa.

The interesting thing to note about Leon Belmont, is that in the Castlevania lore...he was haunted by the darkness and eventually consumed the Fallen Lord, transforming his body and soul, then renamed himself as Dracula. The lore has Leon as not only the first Belmont, but also Dracula...making Dracula the progenitor of the Belmont family.

This episode has probably the first major misstep in the series which couldn't simply have been addressed later due to the finality of it; the wasting of Godbrand, the one voiced and characterized general of Dracula's war council other than Carmilla. It came far too early in the narrative without having utilized him much, and reduced the number of "players" at Dracula's court down to... well just Isaac and Carmilla really, and the tension is undermined greatly by another aspect of the court which episode makes very clear; None of these shenanigans are actually escaping Dracula's notice, and the only reason he's "tolerating" them is because he's literally too depressed in general to bother with anything and really would rather just leave it to Isaac and wait, not because he can't or because any of it is actually threatening or clever. Godbrand was essentially the show's golden chance at a believable wrench in everyone else's plans, one that was dangerous to *everyone* because he was sensible enough to see through bullshit but also flawed in ways that kept driving him into conflicts even when it's not wise of him to have done so. Predictable, because we understand his drives and desires and they are very human, but also unpredictable because he's simultaneously deceptively astute and prone to emotional decisions and pushing his luck. In other words, he's *believable, relatable and likeable.* Contrast him with Carmilla, who's primarily motivated by misandry, ego and unwarranted confidence in herself despite her plans continuing to either fail or be proven to have been entirely pointless in the first place. She's not relatable or likeable, nor is she believable or impressive in how she accomplished anything that she does, because she just keeps being lucky then patting herself on the back for pulling off some "scheme" where she was the only player. And yet, Godbrand is the one who bites it here while Carmilla lingers. Still, the show is good in general, just hampered by missteps, with this being one o the first major ones. YMMV.
