@@somacruz7759 If memory serves, the only function in the DS trilogy that absolutely requires a touch screen is drawing the seals in your game. So you'd just have the seals draw themselves on a console. Every other function could be ported to a controller easily.

i think the censorship is kind of charming, like how mother 3 had some censorship in its fan translation to be more in line with a NOA localization, helps it feel in line as a long lost NES game

Obviously the first boss is a Ghost. A white sheet with holes for eyes. The Gameboy Castlevanias are not only great, but to have proper original Gameboy games on the Switch is fantastic, and the added display filter options is icing on the cake.

I have seen in a video before release that you can reduce the flickering sprites in the Famicon games. There is a display option "Pixel perfect" or so. Cannot recall how it was called also because the video was in German. ^^

Great collection but needs some work. For starters, The NES trilogy needs either proper bindings or a custom controls option. Also there's a problem on Castlevania 1's level 2 music with constant random high pitch beeping.

Digital games get much better sales. I prefer to go physical on major releases but a lot of the indie stuff is not only harder to get a hold of but also costs much more. But I was a big Xbox Live Arcade guy back in the day, and a lot of those didn't get physical releases at all. On a handheld its especially nice to have a built in library without cart swapping. Not so much an issue on a system like the Switch that needs a case anyway but when I slip my 3ds in my pocket it's nice knowing it's got a lot on it.

I to was once of the physical, dipped my toe into the digital download for the switch...(1st console I have EVER downloaded games on)…..But have to admit...the switch does do "to good to miss" prices at seemingly regular intervals.....I also use my gold coins as they do run out after a period of time...… Digital download is a slippery slope matey. LOL

Even on ps4 and Xbox you are still playing a digital copy installed on the hard drive just like a pc. You just have a disc that verifies you own the game. The system doesn’t run the game off the disc. Also most games won’t even fully install from the disc. It downloads data on the initial install. I guess you will always have a disc. I just wish the system would run the game off the disc and not just use it as DRM.

onimenokyo christy oh if we are talking switch then yes. I go physical with switch. You can actually play the game from the cart. There are some exceptions but yeah will always go physical if it is an option for the switch

Speaking of Kid Dracula, there was a game called that for the PC Engine (Makai Prince Dorabochan to be exact). In spite of being unrelated (a 1990 game from Naxan Soft) it has a lot in common with Konami's Kid Dracula (Akumajo Special: Boku Dracula-kun!). I suppose being another cutesy platformer with a child Dracula may just be a coincidence, but it plays very similar with similar enemies too. Also, the Easter Island statues from Gradius make an appearance.

The original Japanese title is Akumajo Special: Boku Dracula-Kun! (Demon Castle Special: I Am Kid Dracula!) In Japan, Castlevania is known as Akumajo Dracula (Demon Castle Dracula or Devil Castle Dracula). The main villain of the game, Galamoth, later appears in SotN. Other obvious song remixes, level design and enemy sprites give it a cute or Chibi style parody look similar to Parodius. Kid Dracula may not be Alucard, but he does look like a Chibi version of him and his fire ball attack is very similar. Otherwise, essentially in-name-only. It doesn't play like a Castlevania at all, more like Mega Man. Parodius, on the other hand, is much more faithful to the Gradius series it lampoons than is Kid Dracula.

I just got this and I'm excited to have this but at the same time I'm very upset because of the CONTROLS BEING WEIRD. Castlevania in order to jump is "A" instead of "B". It's just about unplayable to me. Castlevania IV is good. Is there anyway to remap controls on this??? That why I like emulation, at least those devs know what we want. JEEZZZZZ

yknow at least with this collection, they confirmed that there's a free update coming to add the JP versions (which is interesting IDK if you noticed but the main menu music is from the first level of JP castlevania III!) I'm definitely in love with this collection, super thrilled I decided to get it, M2 killed it with this one!

Why not make a complete classic konami collection, instead of 3 different collections? Because people up in their nostalgia will gladly drop 20$ for half a collection. Why should Konami put out a Physical Release and waste a Bluray Disc for 620mb which is the Size of this Collection... Just be Patient and wait.. I bet there will a Sort of Complete Collection soon including ALL CV Games from NES up to the Metroidvania Titles And a Physical Release of course so its worth producing,shipping,promoting etc. A Physical Release but I m pretty sure we will see some Sort of Ultimate Castlevania Collection in the Future! I love the Anniverary Collection, Day 1 buy like Castlevania Requiem which was awesome too.. It was probably Belmont's Revenge that you were thinking of as the good GameBoy game, as Legends had trick candles that took you to trap rooms and the story sounds like some rubbish fan fiction that was written by a horny teenage girl who wants a piece of Alucard. Belmont's Revenge fixes quite a lot of the issues with The Adventure (he's still a bit sluggish but he feels faster than The Adventure and only certain enemies will remove whip upgrades and not every enemy) and feels a bit more like a normal Classicvania (subweapons, wall meat, 6 stages instead of 4, etc), while trying something new (Mega Man style stage select for first four stages, level gimmicks that you wouldn't see in other Classicvanias (such as candles serving as lighting for rooms in Rock Castle or ropes you climb on that are moving up / down and change direction every so often in the Cloud Castle)).

Im suprised its not a physical release to begin with. They should know by now this is the shiz we want! Save/load states would b a cool addition but can't have everything! I've noticed the interface with the title logos reminds me of Hyperspin and front ends like ones on Emulation Station that everyones familiar with, its cool to see Nintendo borrowing that style since everyone borrows from them. I suppose maybe its an obvious presentation choice.

I got the original carts of CV 1, 2, 3 and 4 plus on NES/SNES classic. CV Bloodlines will be on Sega Genesis Mini coming up and don't care about Kid Dracula and the Gameboy games. This collection is unnecessary.

I have played Kid Dracula on original GameBoy, which was released in the US, and could be a sequel to the NES jp game. My point is, after reading the description of Kid Dracula on this compilation, and seeing that it is consistent with the tone of the GameBoy one, I have to respectfully object. It has nice level design and can be funny too. Granted this was only from my first impressions of the GameBoy game, but I think that if first impressions left a good mark on me the rest of the game could be like that, but I will eat my words when I play more and the middle, or even the end, becomes a slog. I just think the NES game could be like this too, but we have to give it a chance to be sure.
