I love how Trevor is a tragic character: -Is related to a supernatural being. -Fate is not helping him by any means (unlike Simon) -he didn't have a pleasant end before becoming Alucard (killed by his own father). -He was taken away from his own mother. -His failure caused the death of his wife and his son raised with... Rather unpleasant people (look at Simon: full of scars, not a great childhood). -He transformed in the very thing he swore to destroy, and unlike Anakin, he didn't choose that (still continuing with cruel fate).

Gabriel/Dracula had it worse. All he truly wanted was to be with his family. But he ended up: -Killing everyone he cared about. -Got screwed over by the Brotherhood, lost everything and spiraled into despair. -Died a painful lonely death while transforming into a vampire and trying to adjust to the power of the Forgotten one. -Killing his own son. (That was when he finally snapped and vowed to exterminate mankind) -Was doomed to fight his descendants and very possibly had to kill them. -Had no way to end his immortality (Had teamed up with Zobek just so he could die) Both his Chaos and Void power was the physical manifestation of his endless suffering, his rage and pain.

The ending is part of why I actually like the Lords of Shadow series, while the original Castlevania only talked about the tragedy the characters faced, it's here that you actually see and feel the pain, especially Dracula's. Though I would've liked less cartoony cutscenes, this scene actually made me feel his sorrow. That's a good story in my eyes.

The original Castlevania series does let us see Dracula's pain. He was originally a human named Mathias Cronqvist. His wife was taken from him early on, and the loss poisoned him against God. An entire game was devoted to showing how a good man was soured not only against God, but against the very notion of love itself. He came to despise creation. His wife later reincarnated as the woman that would be Alucard's mother, but the humans killed her after she was found guilty of witchcraft despite that she had only used basic medical practices to aid others. Losing her a second time killed whatever small piece of humanity he had left -- the last of Mathias, leaving only Dracula.

I'm a huge fan of the story! While Dracula has claimed he has no humanity within him as he is full of rage, his rage comes at the price of everything he lost through the betrayal towards him. When I saw the end of LoS, I freaked out! I remember that when Satan disappeared, something had left Gabriel. Had it not been for Laura, Gabriel would have died. Dracula despite all of his darkness and anger still holds a special place in his heart for Marie and the man he knows to be his son. He is still just as human as the next, only he is immortal.

If I may speak freely, out of all the Draculas in the castlevania universe, I like this one the most. All the other Draculas just continued to speak of being mad at either the world or God or just wanted to destroy everything. But we really never knew why. This Dracula we can truly connect with and understand the why, sure his games could have been better, but it's his character that pulls me towards him.

Despite of the dislike of some people about CV:LoS. This is still by far the only Dracula who pwns the Belmonts for killing Trevor, Simon got pwned by him in the middle of the second battle and this one didn't really managed to destroy him and Gabriel only used the basics of his Vampiric powers and faked his death at the end of the fight, he also pwned Victor Belmont. Maybe his Belmont bloodline brings him the advantage to win against his own clan.

I like this Dracula the most, but after all Gabriel has been through Konami doesn't give the character justice. While the first game was amazing, this and LOS2 seems like a joke. Los2 does have its moments, but overall it's a mediocre and generic hack and slash game. I think it's difficult for Konami to make an interesting game where you play as a nearly omnipotent being. He did absorb the power of light and dark, all the Lords of shadow, laura and the forgotten one afterall.

It could have been cool to allow the player to keep all their abilities from the first game plus some extra abilities that come with being Dracula. Then the game could give the player all kinds of really powerful abilities whilst pitting them against exponentially growing threats including entire armies that he can dispatch using massively powerful area-of-effect attacks that wipe out hundreds of enemies at once. Maybe you get health by impaling the heads of your enemies? As the game continues the process can be made easier and even automated slightly!

my personal thoughs, i like each of the three games of the Lords of Shadow saga (even though i have play only the first and the second, not the one for nintendo 3DS). the story was of my liking, a great destined to save the world from a darkness born from other heroe of ligth only to become a most powerfull darkness whit no equal. i specialy like because, only some Castlevania game you can play whit Drácula (if you only count the ones that have Soma Cruz as main character along whit others). i do want to know the name of the OST from the part when Gabriel was trying to revive his son, could tell what is the name?. now about the game, the one i play the most is the second one (i would have like for bein capable to use the Dragon form of Drácula to figth either The Leviathan or Lucifer). thanks for the video.

Okay... Original Alucard took that name to show that his oppostion against his father, since Alucard is Dracula spelled backwards. Now i want to understand, outside of being the typical "hurp durp Castlevania stuff", why Dracula choose the name Alucard for Trevor? Like i said, Alucard is simbolic of Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes choosing the opposite side of his father, So why the hell Trevor, when turned into a vampire, got his name changed to Alucard?

Lords of Shadows is an "alternative universe", in this own universe Dracula is a Belmont and Trevor is his son, but Dracula didn't know his name, so named him as Alucard, because he's the opposite of him, Gabriel (The Dracula from LOS) accepted his fate, Trevor fought against it, something like that.

Fate of what? Being a vampire? Choosing humanity instead of joining with Pseudo-Dracula? Adrian "Alucard" Tepes was born a dhampyr, he had both vampire and human blood on him, he could've aligned with either side due to this duality, but he choose the side of humanity because of his mother. Trevor was born human, so all that duality is lost to the wind, and he is a Belmont, and it is a duty from either the Belmont Clan or The Brotherhood of Light to fight the creatures of the night, and unless Pseudo-Dracula had some mad Clairvoyance skills, knowing that Trevor would've opposed him to be like: "HUM! I think that my son will not join my side after killing my wife under mind control and impaling him through the heart with a giant sharp stick... Guess i will name him with my name spelled backwards because of that."
