GenerationGapGaming the NES doesn’t have a save feature? That doesn’t make sense. The game opted for no password. Probably due to the fact that the famicom version allowed game saves. So it’s easier to strip a function out then to add a function in. There are many games that have save features and passwords on the NES.

The original Castlevania was my absolute favorite arcade game. I spent so many quarters on the arcade version I just had to have it in the nes. vs. Castlevania but Player's Choice 10 Castlevania would be my all time most memorable.

I think the biggest issue with Simon's Quest was the bad translation. For the type of game it was, being able to read the correct dialog was pretty much essential. And they sorta borked it. That's why the only way people in the west ever finished that game was via a guide or a buddy telling them what to do. (like kneel for 5 seconds to summon the tornado) But it's a classic imo Also, Bloody Tears = best Castlevania song ever!

Great game, good video, but there's always more. On stage 4, you can avoid the first skele-dragon by just walking straight under it, and you'll reach the door before it can hit you. Similarly, on stage 3 I find it easier to walk forward towards the platforms with the hunchbacks on, and turn back when they jump down. They will always do the jump with the bigger and slower arc, making it easier to hit them. And on stage 6, if you don't have the stopwatch and are overwhelmed, it's better to stand on the stairs to take a hit, because you don't get knocked down if you are on the stairs. This strategy becomes incredibly valuable in Castlevania 3, of course. Hilariously, despite having beaten this game dozens of time, I never knew there was a 1-up in the game. It's insane that there's only a single one, and it's so cryptic to get. Makes you wonder what is even the point.

It took some work but over the years I beat the Creature, Death and finally Dracula. This is a fun one for me to go back and buzz through from time to time. I need to upload some video footage again. I'm really good at this game. I've beaten death with just the whip without getting hit by his pscythes.

I have 2 copies. An early version that has a manufacturing defect that makes Simon walk in the air across screen and a later version that fixed it. The production on this video is really good. From the theatrics to the documentary style stuff.

Thanks man. I worked pretty hard on this one. Definitely the boldest production I put forth on a secrets and history video. Really glad you enjoyed it.

I’m 40 years old and still learning new stuff about this game. How great is that?

This was tough but rewarding game upon original release. The Nintendo Power tip book was a nice companion but did nothing to ease the pain of the challenge of the game itself! Great job, I enjoyed that vid and subbed you up! Game on, my friends!

My local Pizzaslut had a PacMan cocktail table game and a Castlevania machine. Van Halen's "Jump" was often heard playing on the juke box.

I remember my dad took us to Toys R Us and I got Contra and my little brother got Castle Vania . 👍 Good times
