I'm willing to give season 2 a chance but Annette needs some serious character development. I really disliked how she'd put Richter down, even worse with 'twitter' speak. Saying he's useless as f*ck. That was horribly cringe inducing. Also Richter can't take a back seat to someone like Annette or it's just going to fuel the strong wamen stereotype that enrages so many people.

I dislike that she put him down but I understand why she did. He ran and everyone could’ve died. She came looking for a full on warrior with his sht together and got Richter. It’s only after he went missing that the others get to her & she goes through some reflection and sees she’s just in the same boat as him just in different way. The Richter who came back was different and so was the Annette he returned to

@@GamerThumbTV in all fairness that was my biggest critique of the first show as well. The almost constant swearing grew tiresome, especially the 'f***'s' used. It didn't make it edgy or adult. If anything it comes off really juvenile, like a kid who just learned a bad word and says it constantly.

Don't be so quick to write off those of us that take issues with Nocturne, just because we aren't getting a direct game to animation transfer of plot and character - it's not about that at all. Talk to some of us; you'll learn that we have quite a bit of tolerance for making changes, but you need to stay faithful to the core. With no Dracula, no Shaft, and no Death, that's a lot to have to cover for. And if this show isn't for the fans, then it's by default disingenuous. They should have called it something else, replaced Richter and Maria with some other hero/heroine, and tell the story as a Gothic horror historical medium. But we all know they didn't do that because the Castlevania brand was necessary for them to gain traction on this. I'm not usually in favor of backseat fan-writing, but I certainly know at least a half dozen Castlevania series fans that could have came up with something better for the plot and (main?) characters.

If all gods exist in this Castlevania universe, then this is a good opportunity to bring in Kratos into the universe, but it isn't in the writers' and creators' plan. With all that said, I liked Nocturne and the depth they're writing for it. Also, that Native American feeling I had about Richter when I first saw him in Portrait of ruin (my second castlevania game) kinda came true, Richter was, presumably, born in the United States and is partially Native American. I just really like the Native American Culture!

Great review dude, unfortunately this how just was the worst for me haha. Definitely agree with you on Dracula, like you said, it's like Mario not fighting Bowser, Dracula just is Castlevania, he's the whole reason the Belmonts exist. Theres only one character I really hate... Annette was almost intolerable at times to me, breaking it down, They go to the cheateu, by the way they never explain to us why they think the vampires are there, they just say, "oh yeah that makes sense, the cheateu.", lmao. Anyway, they sneak in there, at night, when vampires can freely move outside. Annette sees her plantation owner, stands up and moves rocks, gets everyone caught and that singer guy gets killed. Richter tries to be kind and tells her that they had to retreat, and it wasn't her fault. Then later Annette calls Richter and Maria children who can't make adult descisions, shits on Richter for retreating from Olrox, when she did the exact same thing earlier, with Richter supporting her trying to be nice after, excellent character. Then, get this, runs out of the house, by herself, and AGAIN at night, to go hunt vampires. Yes, adult descisions being made here. I'll leave this comment off with the most dissapointing scene in the whole show for me. Juste It's cool fan service, but they made this guy completely useless, he does nothing to advance the story, and if the writers were good, they could have easily made him awesome, so I want to attempt to fix him. First off, he's not a season 1 Trevor clone, our version got the best ending in Harmony of Dissonance, and while he might be stern and rough on the edges, he still is an optomistic Belmont and isn't afraid to consult Richter when he starts crying beside him. Just make him different, we have enough cynical edgelords in this show. Next, Juste does not lose his magic because he got sad, it made some sense for Richter, he was a child, and his magic seemed very basic, I could see him losing it from trauma. Juste, just no, experienced spell caster who is grown ass man losing everything he's learned, because he was sad after his friends died? Did Sypha just up and forget all the magic she learned after Trevor supposedly died? No, so it does not happen here. Finally, when the vampires attack, Juste makes himself useful instead of pathetically getting captured off screen. He uses his advanced skill in magic to fend off some of the vampires, while Richter uses the whip. Let's get creative this time too, don't use the exact same magic from the last show, it's been 300 years, they should have developed more advanced stuff by now, the games had awesome magic spells that they could've used, although I doubt these guys played much of the games lol. Anyway, after the battle, Richter tells Juste that he lost all of his magic back when his mother was killed, and Juste offfers to teach him some beginner level stuff. Later we get Richters badass magic fight when he meets up with Tera and Maria later. Now Juste isn't hopeless, he helps advance the story, and we get our awesome fan service.

I liked how Juste is written because he is what Richter could have been if he didn’t realize that he is a Belmont. As for why Juste lost his magic, it was not because of him being sad about his friend and wife’s death but rather because he lost all hope and will of defeating evil and the creatures of the night, as well as forgetting what it is being a Belmont and never forgiving himself for the death of the ones he loved

it was mid. Richter Belmont feels like a side character until about half way through episode 5, and as the strongest and most balanced Belmont (other than anger) its a disservice to him. I hope they really focus on him and maria in the 2nd season as these stories in this arc are really about them leading up to Alucard during SOTN. the last 2 1/2 episodes were pretty good i do have to admit, but the last episode leads a lot to be desired.. Valid criticisms. I'll say this, it is season 1 so this is very much a big introduction to where the rest of the season is headed. Now that all the characters are established I think we'll see Richter take more of a spotlight. In the first series I felt like Alucard hogged much of the spotlight for a while but ultimately I thought they delivered.

I got it we have a few things to say. I definitely aspects of the games, that are usually downplayed or overlooked, and expanding upon them. Like for example the historical background. I thought it was interesting how each Castlevania game had some kind of historic setting. The only problem, being simple games with simple premises, i.e. go to Dracula's castle, fight your way through all his traps and minions, kill Dracula rinse and repeat, there wasn't really a whole lot of room for the historical events taking place at that time to play a significant role in the plot. The only game that came the closest to that was Castlevania Bloodlines. I've always been a big fan of history and especially historic fiction. I also like how their expanding upon certain characters, both in the original Netflix series and in this one, who were basically little more than bland bosses in the video games. Although personally, I would like to see some of the other horror movie icons, such as Frankenstein's monster or the Mummy, get a much more prominent role in perhaps some future seasons or even future series. Remember Castevania initially started off as a love letter to classic universal monster movies. Although, Konamy has since put their own spin on many of these characters in order to make the series the own, which is fine by me. Pretty much all of these classic monsters from mythology and literature, from Frankenstein to Dracula, have had different interpretations throughout different forms of media from literature to film. I definitely have about making Elizabeth Bathary the main villain of the series. On one hand Dracula is supposed to be the big bad of the franchise. So it is kind of a bummer that he's not around. Although perhaps that maybe just nostalgia talking. On the other hand, seeing how happy and content Dracula was at the end of the first series, having somehow been resurrected and reunited with his beloved Lisa, I think it would have been just cruel to take that away from him. Besides, having the same antagonist over and over again can get kind of monotonous. So it is great to sort of switch up a formula once in a while. I also have to disagree with GamerThumbTV on a couple points. First off, while I have no objections to the series reinterpretation of Annette, I do not believe that damsels in distress are boring, at least not if they're well written. I agree that women don't always need to be the ones to get rescued. But even when they do, they don't need to be pathetic and helpless and just sit in the corner and cry waiting for their hero to come save them. Also, while I have no objections with heroes who are flawed, like Richter, and when I do agree that heroes don't need to be perfect that doesn't mean they can still be good role models. Anyway, overall the series did have its ups and downs. But I definitely enjoyed it. And hope to see more of it in the future. And maybe more series to come, wink.

I liked the show, it's entertaining. 2 things that bothered me about it though 1) You can tell the creators don't like Christianity. 2) They made the Belmont's vulgar alcoholics. In the game, the 1st time you see Trevor, he's praying. There are bibles, crosses, holy water. Dracula even quotes Matthew 16:26. At least there's a mystical version of Christianity in the games. I always imagined the Belmont's to be somewhat holy men, like "Conan the exorcist" or something. The writers took little elements from other characters and fully expounded on them, but wouldn't explore this with the Belmont's. In the series, the church is just evil, 100%. Mizrak is a holy body guard, quotes the bible... also has gay sex with vampires?
@GamerThumbTV
@GamerThumbTV Жыл бұрын
It does make sense when you think about it. The church back then would be burning people for witchcraft and in the games they hire witches and heroes that use magic. Would've never happened. And the Mizrak angle, yea historically that doesn't make sense given the time period and his role, but I did like his character.

This show was ok and had great pieces of ideas as in character motivation and locations. It was just how it was all executed I didn't care for. Oh and I get it damisal in distress boring and it's not to people's taste but I still enjoy those type of things and I doesn't mean that the women are weak or anything I never understood that thinking. I also don't understand if they are going to change so many things why not just make a original character being the lead maybe a adding a new vampire hunting family that help the Belmonts and have a brand new story and just adding in the people we know from time to time. I am going to give the next season a go and hopefully things can be fleshed out.

I don't mind damsels in distress in video games, it's a trope that will always be around. But if you can make a female character more interesting in a series by not making her a captured victim, I'm down to see what they do. And I really enjoyed what they did with Annette, though it might've been better if she were an original character instead of "Annette." That name comes with expectations that will inevitably disappoint some

Not gonna lie, when this series got announced after Season 4 ended I had the hopes it would be about Christopher Belmont since I feel he desserves some spotlight nowadays and then continue with Simon Belmont, the most popular and the one we have to thank for being the hero who introduced people to Castlevania back in '86. Then I learned it was about Richter Belmont, I got very livid, I like Richter as much as you do pal, but I literally hated they skipped three Belmonts, two of which are the most important ones of the clan and instead focused on just getting straight to RoB and SotN period, I could see the bias from miles. "Hey, Alucard, get your overrated anal fucked ass back to the line after Juste and wait your fucking turn in 97!" That's what I would say if those two were skipping line in the "who gets their game adapted into animation series" which is what it felt like. Which is what stopped me from showing e thusiasm for Nocturne, which only adds up to the stain left by Season 3 finale that made me become so skeptic about the following season and Nocturne and what those at the top could do to screw up. Aside from that, when I read the sypnosis for the series I wasn't so keen either on the whole French Revolution thing, like I felt it didn't sit well for some reason, specially with the fact that Ezre- Netflix! Elizabeth is Russian so why not do the Revolution there instead of France? If it was used to revive Dracula, I believe it could work since as we know Dracula revives using the energy from the dark nature of mankind and it's not the first time they use a real life event to bring Dracula back, being brought back to life two times in a row in Bloodlines and Portrait of Ruin with both World Wars, with the many humans heads rollings at the hands of other humans the French Revolution fits the purpose of bringing him back to life. But without him, it doesn't seems to have a reason and well, I believe it was a necesarry step for human evolution I find it funny Maria supports it when we all know that was bloodshed. Sadly i don't have a Netflix subscription anymore so I haven't watch the series, even if I did the lack of enthusiasm/ skepticism thanks to season 3 fucking up it took three trailers to actually get me to show some emotion for the series but it was mostly because of Divine Bloodlines playing in the background and some fight scenes, then I completely forgot about it (Real life stuff being more important than this show) Saw a little from time to time, and not convinced about the show: -Richter is okay, only issue is his hair, the voice and face, the design as a whole is great (took a Dr, livesey Rondo of Chad video to actually like the black with the blue.). But he needs more hair, it looks cheap. -Annette's design eh... I expected it, but Issac rocks the redesign better, my only surprise she was given a fighter role. Even though one time I spotted a dialogue of her calling Richter fucking useless and well... I don't take kindly when someone bad mouths my heroes and gets away with it, leading to me hope for I dunno, see her share the same fate as her DXC counterpart if you fail to save her. -Maria had me worried with how they were gonna portray her in battle, cuz you know she is basically anti Castlevania with her design alone back in RoB, and if she was gonna be a child or a teen like SotN. Part of me wishs they adapt her SotN S. Saturn fighting style cuz I think the RoB one is too childish, but glad to see they managed to work around it. -Gonna call her Elizabeth because the name change they gave her here is stupid, absolute hate her design and the one she gets later on, Drolta is meh and that's coming from a guy who loves the Great Fairy from Zelda. -Olrox, gonna pretend he has a different name unless they make him look like the guy he's based on. -Hope Shaft appears, hope he doesn't gets threated as sharply like Grant or Hector got, specially Grant with the not appearing in last show. -As I mentioned before, not digging the French Revolution -I do like Juste appearing, ignoring he became TLJ Luke Skywalker/ Cade Skywalker, I do buy Lydie dying but Maxim? The guy is a freaking Naruto and a male Samus in his game mode, how the fuck did he die!? Now I know i've been harsh, but i won't deny there's some gold in this misersble mixed pile that gave me some ideas for Castlevania related written work, but I'm not stupid to think they are a gift from God to be completely honest.

What I've always enjoyed about the Castlevania games is being Belmont the vampire hunter and constantly cheat boss fights by running away from stage. Press "Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start" to anxiety attack, level skip and fill a lake with tears. But If it wasn't for the level skip cheating ability of Belmont, I'd much rather play as the main character Annette who's got the Haitian God powers of being more powerful than Magneto from X-men. I also always loved the epic music in all of the levels, the high pitch castrato singing sets the game playing mood just right. This Netflix series captures the game perfectly.

Oh i was gonna ask you this question on one of the streams. But i forgot. TL;DR: I'd give this season a 5 or 6 out of 10. (Incase I might add more of my thoughts later). - I didn't like the show barely feels Castlevania and more like a historical fiction featuring Vampires. - I don't agree with the race-swap. (And i'm also Black & mixed). - I felt like they could've changed that damsel-in-distress. Adding more than that. - And make this Annete a new character. - Annete was a terrible douche and feels like a hypocrit. - Juste was there, but i wish there was more of a bigger role for him. (I wish his theme song played). - Pacing and Writing felt terrible. - Animation was good in most parts, there were some hiccups but it was overall good. - Action was cool. Music was a bit iffy. - I hoped they really improve from that in the next season. (That was announced pretty quick, kind of suspicious). 18:38 He could've gone with Leone's Quote. "THE BELMONT CLAN WILL HUNT THE NIGHT." Like i have mixed feelings about this adaptation. I wouldn't even call it a adaptation. Like It feels too far from the source material that it doesn't feel like Castlevania. Just a fanfic or historical fiction featuring Vampire Hunters. Yeah i know a very close and direct adaptation might feel like a rehash or something. But i wish they didn't go too far away from the source material. ... I'll add more later.

10:30 ngl I got hit unexpectedly hard when she lost one of the birds the first time. Almost on par with Julia. 15:30 the lack of grace people have for Richter not STARTING at the end of his fully developed character arc is nuts! Trevor was a drunk who got beat up in episode one. In general, the way that this show handles grief, especially how it manifests as fear or anger, and then how ultimately it's our love for those around us that can pull us out of those trenches and into action, is amazing. So much of grief is just the feeling that we weren't grateful enough for people while they were still in our lives. The theory I'm putting all my money on right now, is that the Abbot is going to go full Shaft and resurrect Dracula. Something about his design really conjures that SOTN portrait for me. We'll find out that after Lisa died some time in the last 300 years, Dracula either sealed himself away like Alucard or just went back into the afterlife. We know the Abbot made a deal with SOMEONE for the night creature machine, and if they're going to tie up all these narrative threads, I really think that someone could be Dracula. Lastly, I hope Juste is getting either the Morningstar or a Belnades spellbook of some kind from Lydie's grave.

Excellent points and theories. And the point about Trevor is spot on, his character developed over several seasons. That's why I mention that I like where Richter is starting. This is the beginning of his journey, not the Richter we'll inevitably conclude with.

With Bathory I’m curious to see what they do though I’m kinda wondering why they didn’t just use Shaft as the main villain. He was a key character in Rondo & SotN. They could’ve really elevated his character and saved Bathory for if they decide to do a take on Bloodlines. Really liked Olrox, Drolta, Edouard, Annette, Tera, and Mizrak . These characters were solid and were very welcome for this take on Rondo b/c it was a great game but dull in its story. Maria kinda fell flat, she kept spewing about the revolution but she never came to see the bloody price of said revolution and how out of hand it was getting. Most of her lines were nothing but the revolution, where other characters got more depth. Richter is alright, it’s clear he’s being set up to maybe grow more. Him having to deal with his trauma was great. His power up moment complete with his theme felt rushed. They didn’t do that for the trio until S2 when they were close to taking out Dracula. This kinda ties into Juste, as not exactly a fan of his new take. Feel like he should’ve appeared in S2 when the heroes are on the ropes, probably with the Morningstar & magic too. Have him only here now b/c he is need in this dire situation and not for Richter. He can stay distant & blunt. Give him a better reason to not have been there for Richter like say have him be fully dedicated to the Belmont mission. Maybe he saw the same rashness in Richter that he saw in his mom, that they’re too eager to kill monsters that it blinds them. This could’ve been brought back around with Edouard. Richter said he was gone, he’s just monster that needed to die and put to rest. We are shown that’s not true, he is not a monster. Julia hunted down a vampire who fought for freedom. Juste saw Richter walking down that exact same path that he thought there was no changing. Have Juste be the reluctant mentor and have him start letting people in. Have a bond with Richter build over time and then something occurs, probably Juste getting a fatal wound, that after their time together allows Richter to go full Belmont saiyan unlocking his magic

If I had to make the series to be as great as its predecessor. Here are the changes I would make. Making Tera Richter’s age, while renaming her to Annette. She starts off as a young girl whose parents were butcher to death by Erzsebet, which traumatized her. She is seen running from Olrox, until Julia (Richter’s mother) saved her. She & Richter grew up as adopted siblings, with his mother teaching her sorcery. Richter has always been nice & gentle to her, while being trained to be strong like his father, who died before his birth. Later, they are introduced to Maria, who escaped from Erzsedet, just to seek out Richter & his mother, despite being a distant relative of their family from her father’s side. They are then attacked by Orlox, who easily kills Julia in front of her son, niece, & adopted daughter/future in law. This in rage’s Richter to try to avenge his mother’s death, but gets easily beaten. After Julia’s funeral. Richter learns about his grandfather Juste Belmont, he & Maria would seek him out, leaving Annette, to meet Iris, who is this version’s Annette renamed. After meeting Juste. Richter was able to unlock the true power of the Belmont family, while Maria was able to unlock the special power she inherited from her mother. The two cousins return to help their friends out, Maria really wants to defeat Erzsedet for killing her parents. Instead of Maria’s father, we have Shaft from Rondo of Blood & Symphony of the Night, working for the big bad, while revealing to be Annette’s uncle from her mother’s side. Annette would protect Maria, by letting Erzsedet to turn her into a Vampire. Which traumatized Richter than his mother’s death. As usual he, Maria would escape with both Iris & Mizrak. They are then chased by Drolta until Alucard saves them, setting stages for season two.

God I love Richter’s design in this Show! It’s the perfect mix! It’s his Origin Game classic Anime design mixed with his Dracula X Chronicles Design from the PSP! Taking both those Artstyles and meshing them into one that suits a young 18 or 19 year old Richter who’s learning to plant his feet!

I think the series should turn out pretty good, with Alucard showing up though already I think its safe to say we will not be seeing the romance angle to Alucard and Maria's relationship from Symphony of the Night.(which was expanded on in the Japan only Radio Drama) due to Maria's age in this series. I do worry Alucard will over shine Richter in the series, since I mean from this era of Castlevania most people know Alucard not Richter as much.

When i first saw that the season was only 8 episodes, i wondered why it wasn't 10, but after watching I think the 2 additional episodes would've basically been padding. I loved most of what i saw, but i do think that Richter's power-up wasn't earned and that did bother me a bit. I thought Juste would at least train him somewhat before unlocking something like that, but instead it just happened because it needed to. I haven't seen many other reviews yet, but I personally loved the Opera singing. Not sure if I'm in the minority on that one. The ending did a fantastic job of setting up an alternate version of SOTN with Richter and Alucard gearing up to face Erzabet (and her new puppet) together, a battle which i don't see coming to a fast conclusion after how unkillable they've made the perception of Erzabet to be.

I got into Castlevania by first watching the show and having that curiosity to look up the games and becoming interested in them. I ran across your Castlevania Timeline videos and I've been a fan ever since and I'm glad to see your perspective on this show. I’ve just been seeing people say that the creators of the show don't care about the source material, when they cleary care about it. I felt that this show was a worthy successor to me. I loved Richter, Maria, Tera, Eduoard, Annette, Olrox, Juste, Drolta, and Erezbet Bathory. To me, every character was amazing. I also loved the story of these characters and where they would go and that moment at the end made me happy to see Alucard in Symphony of the Night design, looking like he came straight out of Ayami Kojima's Artwork was awesome for me.

Right, I complete disagree with the take that the creators don't care about the source material. There's clearly a lot of love for Castlevania, but yes, they do change things and make it their own. Personally, as long as it's still a good story to tell I'm ok with that.

Well for now I think the og show is better mostly due to having more meat on the bones for now but man nocturne is amazing as his predecessor, granted I didn't got enough time to fully analyze by the time the show came here I got myself into a busy era that will stay until early december but still I can tell quite a lot warning it does spoil the OG and this show as well: Overall I enjoy the location and how it make like himself into a new gen yet still keep the feeling is linked to the old one, pacing is good and I say the swearing used just right, chanracters are so well done, I know some want dracula to be here but I believe he be back and for my assumption what happen to him between the two I do belive he bring up chaos but more from not being fully himself in the end of the OG show my, my best comparasion is what happen to ganon from the oracle games and onward he got revived but his self awerness and intelligence came down significally. Animation not much to say, is quick, smooth for the eyes and I can't get enough from it, I can feel the impact with the music presented so much. The character are really well done, granted I still think Isaac is the best character from this animated franchise no doubt but no deny that I don't find one that I dislike. Overall is pretty high for me and it probably will get higher when season 2 will comerondo of blood is great even though the sorrow doulogy and portrait of ruin are my personal favorites I can't wait to see more in general and hey this show bring up for netflix other two gaming based animes in the same style and I am looking for that

Unfortunately I didn’t enjoyed as I did the previous show. It is better than OG's Season 3, but the story wasn't really great, I understand they changing secondary characters, but Maria is a protagonist and while she looks great, she's a complete different person and lacks Maria's charm from the games. Bathory is as simple as a villain as it gets, completely blank and cliche (although I gotta say, she looks great, vampire hunter d style, and her Egyptian lore can be interesting). The Church is yet another thing I disliked on Nocturne. In 1475, it made more sense to see them as evil as it is time accurate (Witch Hunt), but here ? The Church is showed as evil for no real reason About Juste, I loved to see him again, but the "old broken man" thing was already so many times, Juste could have been Richter's Magic master Overall 6/10, I wish to see more of Juste and Alucard, maybe they can save the series

I loved it, i liked that the character changes were better than just sticking to the source material, also if I had a nickel for every animated version of Erzebet Bathory being a vampire antagonist with power coming from another culture's deity, I'd have two nickels, which isn't alot, but it's weird that it happened twice I'm actually surprised you didn't mention the score and music, because it was amazing, especially when Divine Bloodlines played over Richter reawakening his magic, I had goosebumps on my goosebumps when that played, and using his magic in a more close combat way definitely fits the Belmont fighting style, and yeah, the use of some vulgarity is off putting, especially since none of the writers from the original series is bad, but it's not enough to turn me off. I do have some hopes for season 2, like a bit of hilarious dialog between Richter and Alucard about Trevor and Sypha, Maria having to struggle with the loss of her mother, Richter and Annette getting closer together to become a battle couple like Treffy and Sypha, and possibly Dracula and Lisa returning (they are immortal after the events of Castlevania season 4) and helping our heroes out

I thought it was a bit off at first, since from a historical standpoint a gay holy knight would've absolutely been frowned upon given the era. A bit too much to be made an almost non existent to full blown main character. Probably just me idk, rolled my eyes at her back story. Just look at her resume - former slave/became a freedom fighter/trained by a high priestess/ has dormant ancient deity power/ love interest to mc.

I just hate the raceswapping. Very needless (before anyone says shit, im black, so i dont wanna hear it). Pacing couldve been better and Richters development to using magic and overall his focus as a character....is very very lacking. I get fleshing out side characters.....but you need your main character.....to be the main character. A belmont as important as Richter with his legacy like Trevor needs to be treated as such. Damsel in distress presented now may be boring, but the effort they took to make Annettes entire change, could have easily been reworked into a more resourceful and actual character showing why Richter loves her and make us invested into a character he cares about. Same way Spiderman games took its time to put a spin on MJ and make her a journalist, or the Daredevil netflix show with Karen. Neither are fighters but with good writing can be active and interesting. Dialogue? Ah man, at times it can be very juvenile even more than season 3 and 4 of the firsr series

A bit too pandering for me and sidelining Richter and making him scared and weak with deadbeat grampy Juste are so over used nowadays. Juste was like Luke in The Last Jedi and if damsels in distress is old and boring cliché, I'm already bored with the trope of "main" dude has to be rescued by strong women everytime and telling how shit he is. Still, great music, animation, moments, action but some major flaws. I have hopes for season 2, clearly they don't care about the game timeline anyway so it can get better. I'd like more focus on Richter since he's supposed to be the main character, but white guy nowadays is a no-no. My main question still is; where's the Morning Star? Richter uses it from the beginning on Rondo 'til SotN, not the Vampire Killer. Such an odd change.
@GamerThumbTV

Valid thoughts. I'd say Richter has plenty of time to grow. Like I said in the review, look at Trevor in episode 1 vs final episode Trevor. He was very different by then. And I do think we need more clarification on the whip. I like to think the whip Richter uses is the "Vampire Killer" and the Morningstar was a separate whip. In the games they make it seem like it changes form

I've only played 2 Castlevania games so far, but I want to get into more after watching the animated series. They're pretty amazing, though the whole Annette thing is kinda strange to me. Personally I don't really like all of the gender or race swapping we're seeing so much of these days when there are better options. For example Netflix Annette is so cool and if they were going to make her so different from her source material, I think she should have just been an original character instead. Well written characters are always welcomed, especially if they work well with the plot and compliment the original cast, but thats just my two cents.

I didn’t know a whole lot about Castlevania lore, mostly on the one off characters. The fact that the show elevates these one off characters is actually incredible and it elevates the show.

It's very different from the original version in the games but still a great watch. The games have very minimal story so you kinda have to make additions for a series.

Pretty much, many people making outrage content on the internet about it didn't even watch the show, and never planned to.

I had major heights and major lows for me and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Caslevania. But after all, people will continue saying if you do not like the changes it is not for you therefore it is immune to your criticism. And if you dare to criticize it for those changes, then you are a racist ofc!!!

Okay first things first, i really enjoyed the previous castlevania show from season 1 to 4. Nocturne in the other hand... fell flat compared to that. Positives: -I do appreciate the nods of the obscure character that they choose to improve on, like you mentioned in video, it does makes me want to pick up and play Bloodlines and Harmony of Dissonance. -The fight scenes are excellent, i feel this are the strong points. -Some of the character designs actually look cool, and admittedly, i did not enjoy Olrox at first, and now i actually appreciate him more. But then here's the negatives: -Plot for me is forgettable and feels like a mess, compared to again, first castlevania show, that have a clear plot line and the characters introduction felt natural. In Nocturne, they want to fit a lot into the show. -I really don't like Annette as a character. Since you compared her to Isaac, i think Isaac is more compelling as a character because he's very well written and actually my favorite part in season 3 of the last castlevania show, while Annette feels like going to take the spotlight from Richter here and i do not like how hypocritical she was in the show. -The only music i liked is the Divine Bloodlines remix, others are just... not good imo. -Dialogue isn't the strongest either, like the one where Richter awaken his power, i feel he should just said, "I'm a Belmont, and that's my job." which could be a nod to the DxC but no, they just go with a line that feels so artificial for me. Well overall its a eh show for me, i feel its like 2/5 show. If you liked it, more power for you, I just can't get into it. I do hope season 2 can win me over.

If I were to describe myself when it comes to the Castlevania series, I’m a casual fan when it comes to the games, so I don’t really want a 1:1 adaptation as that would be dead boring to me. The first series made me want to give the games another go.

I think there's room to both love the game series, and enjoy the Netflix series. Very different from each other but I still love both interpretations.

I enjoyed this a lot, especially towards the end. They accomplished a lot in just 8 episodes. Completely agree on the dialogue though, definitely some cringe moments.
