the door was sealed for the ps one release so basically that are was removed from the american game, though you can glitch into it somehow using 2 heart refreshes and the duplicator

But in there, there is no way to get to Underground Garden, in the PS1/PSX version it's just a unused save room and a trapdoor that never opens unless you exit the place, keep in mind that the company who made both versions was Konami it self, but at the time the Saturn version was being made, Konami had two developer teams, KCET, who made the PS1/PSX version and all the other ports, and KCEN who made the Sega Saturn port, KCET originally shared the code for the areas, enemies, items, with KCEN and KCEN succefully progammed and finished the game with the code, however, KCET didn't program all of it, and released the game without the new areas and items, and enemies of course, man, if KCET released the game with the code programmed for all the versions of SOTN, that would be as good as the Saturn version is, but problem is, the Saturn version was never released outside of Japan, the poor framerate of the game really killed it, and there's no English patch or translation that any Castlevania fan made, there's one blog I saw that said about the English patch for the Saturn version of SOTN, but the translation team could only translate 30% of the text, and it got cancelled... the English patch never got to see the light of the day... but, there are many reasons as to why they cancelled it, one of them is that the game code's (I'm not an expert at game codes and these other things, but I'll try my best.) is hard to change and that is the only reason, but I don't know if there are others, but you can play the Sega Saturn version of Castlevania Symphony Of The Night, but it is only in Japanese and the framerate might kill you, if you don't know what is happening on, I recommend you finish the original version first before playing this one, the cutscenes are the same, but the dialogue does not match with the PS1/PSX version, and the voices are in Japanese too.

Actually, SOTN has BOTH the "crisseagrim" AND the "vorpal blade"; the former does 4 slashes per button press, and has a bit less ATK than the latter. The crisseagrim is generally considered the best weapon in the game, even if it isn't the strongest. Vorpal apparently only does one hit per swing, which means it requires more button mashing. I remember distinctly using the crisseagrim, and it's no question that the gamer in this video is using it.

Ok let's get this straight. The levels for the PS1 was intended but never fully programmed in. Konami had two teams develop Castlevania/Dracula X for the 32-bit systems back in the 90's. KCET was the team that produced SOTN for the PS1 in 1997. The games code was sent to another team KCEN who programmed the Saturn version which was released a year later in 1998. The extra boards were to be added to the PS1 but they decided not to finish programming them. KCEN used the code to finish it out for Saturn. The extra familiars are in the Japanese version of SOTN because they had a purpose. I have the Japanese and US version of SOTN, as well as Nocturne of Moonlight. for the US version of SOTN you need a Gameshark or Pro-Action Replay to access to extra and some super rare items like Dracula's Tunic and Axe Lord Armor.

I agree, as an owner of several versions of SotN (including this one, the Japanese Saturn version). It's not an issue of the new content detracting from the game, it's an issue of load times and graphics being inferior. Content wise, it trumps the other versions without a doubt.

For the Crisagram you just need to kill Schmoo in the inverted library until her drops it. Definitely the best weapon in the game just because its so fast.

The one in the vid is Crisagram, but the the muramasa is possible to get as well.. Use Alucart Mode*, luck potion, and there's some accessory that increases rare item drops as well.. Then it's just a matter of finding out what drops the item you want.. You are in Alucart mode when you equip the alucart sword, mail, and sheild.. It increases your luck..

The android / iOS release let's you play as Maria off the bT and seems to have more than the 5 familiars. The trap door though is still closed so I'm wondering how you open it on the Sega Saturn as it may be available on the mobile version.🤔

Actually the U.S. do get alot of exclusive extras from japan too. An example of this is Star Ocean and Tales of Abyss. We got bonuses in both these games right when they came to America. Not only that, bugs in the original version of Star Ocean were fixed in the American versions and the japanese had to rebuy the game to get all the bonus material/fixes. Also i think the prices are cheaper here, importing japanese games are pretty pricey.

Crissaegrim... It's dropped by the "Schmoo" in the "Forbidden Library" in the "Inverted Castle". As you can see in the Video, it's one of the strongest swords in the game, since you literally walk through your enemies. It's fun to use if your just joking around, but if you use it to finish the game, I'm gonna consider you (like most other people you say the Crissaegrim is the best) gay. =)

The vorpal blade is a similiar weapin droped by the archers, it doesnt strike as fast as the crissigrim, but you can walk and strike like the crissigrim.

Not at all. It simply wasn't finished in time for the PS1 version. the Saturn Version came like a year after where they could include more stuff. Why they didn't release the extra content on the PSN or Dracula X Chronicles version I have no idea. At least you get Maria on the Drac X Chron version, but if I recall correctly, its not the exact same Maria as the Saturn version.
