Technically she MAY have done so, but she have not knowledge of the future at that time (the map of the castle and the puzzle keys), whichever of them who have possessed such knowledge can beat dracula in a minute. In fact when you first met Maria as Alucard she was just figuring out how to navigate the complex castle knowing very little about its maze.

Well, richter and maria are different kinds of challenge, richter is easy to use and ultra powerful, but dies quick. Maria doesn't die as fast as richter but takes more skill to use as she has complex spell combos and less power.

Absolutely! And it makes me roll my eyes to see people complain about it or give comments like these Thumbs Downs. I cannot understand why people complain that a character is "overpowered", especially extra mode side characters like Maria. No one seems realize that when an extra character mode is more powerful than the main, it's deliberate. that's actually THE main reason behind it, the reward of playing the game again, but with more godlike power and technique than with the other character.

Hector Velez You can play as her in the PSP version in Dracula X Chronicles, but she's more in-line with how she plays in Rondo of Blood. I was originally gonna say she was nerfed a bit too, but I've never played the Saturn version nor played as her in the PSP version so I can't tell 100%.

Jesus she's powerful. Too bad she's completely depowered in PSP version. In PSP version, she loses ALL her magic, and instead, some spells are now her sub-weapon (all her spells-now-in-subweapon-form are way worse off, in both power and hit box). She also loses ALL her invincibility attacks. She also sucks at doing/taking damage significantly. The list goes on and on, to the point she's completely new and worse character. Finishing the game with her is pretty much impossible, since she sucks way too much.

The psp version was very bad, i mean, you cant harm even a medusa head, the only (and maybe) good about her in psp is that kind of fast movement with L and R, but no more. The only thing that for me look very memorable was the way of going uppwards with the little bird

I like how Konami loved to insert Gradius references on every of their games haha. So... The most OP spell of Maria is a Flame Dragon from Gradius (Maybe Salamander) nice. Nice Speedrun BTW, those Bad porting designs are a bit annoying but still a cool port.

Look up Castlevania:Nocturne of Recollection for details about her after this game, and all we know about her bloodline is that Rondo of Blood (or maybe Dracula X, but I thought not, as it claims she is Annette's sister) mentions she is related to the belmonts, albeit distantly. Descendants are not mentioned at all, so I doubt her bloodline was involved in 1999.

A couple of glitches were removed, and the sword familiar is in the location that it's in on the Saturn version. the Nose Goblin and second Fairie familiar were also added. You can also play as Maria in the psp version however she isn't the same as in the Saturn version. You also have to fight and defeat Maria as Alucard in order to get the Holy Glasses.
