It's funny bcoz after watching this whole video promoting other Amsoil products, you are supposed to promote your Amsoil 5W-40 and destroy the image of Castrol EDGE. However, your video shows that Castrol EDGE flows better after putting it in the ref under -50 deg. temperature. So it means that AmsOil has been defeated by Castrol EDGE in your Cold Flow Challenge.😊

I love both brand and use them both lol my Corolla running with Castrol and the Lexus GS430 running Amsoil OE, my van run Amsoil Signature. It is hard to find Castrol Synthetic Trans Fluid in the US so I switched the mineral based oil in the transmission of the Corolla to Amsoil OE Trans fluid.

Oh yeah I think it's one of the better ones I have done a test where I took a torch to a bunch of the oils and the Castrol had the least amount of smoke. Very impressive product. I would say if I couldn't get my hands on signature series if I was in an emergency and had to buy oil at a store I would get either the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum or I'd get the Castrol Edge. Which is still okay you could always mix it with Amsoil it wouldn't hurt anything

That's a great question because that blend is blended and extremely high volume. Amsoil sells the most of that full saps if you look in the lookup guide you'll see how many different vehicles take that tons and tons of vehicles take it also the cold flow additives are expensive so they just don't put as much cold flow additives into the 5W40 If you're looking for the super good cold flow protection if you live somewhere where you're starting your car every day below freezing I would run the 0W-40 European classic full saps.

Hey great question I would run whichever Amsoil calls for because the emission systems are different on different vehicles the way the sensors are you don't want to clog anything with the improper amount of additives so I would stick with what's on the lookup guide. The reason I’m asking is because I’ve been doing a bit of research into the topic and I’ve read that FS gives you better engine wear protection with more ash/carbon production whereas the MS gives better emissions but worse engine wear protection. The great part is you can stop into almost any store and pick it up even if you need to top off your motor if you have Amsoil. I wouldn't go do the extended drain interval though if you add anything to Amsoil.

Yeah they're very close It's the additive package that is called the cold flow additives and depending on how much of those that changes the way it flows in the cold the 0W-40 European classic would be for someone that's running below freezing every day That's what I would run however I run the 5W-40 because I live in Las Vegas I don't need the extra cold flow additives.

Great question. They have additive packages that are added to the oil and some of the oils are designed more for high heat some are more designed for cold flow so Amsoil doesn't add as many of the additive package for the cold flow. If you were running in super cold temperature like in Canada you would run the 0W-40 Amsoil makes that one it cost a little bit more money but it's got the super high quality cold flow additives. Will definitely do a video of that one soon

Another test idea for the cold! The squeeze test! Using a medicine syringe, squeeze the cold oil out of the syringe, the easier it comes out, the better! Might not be possible sometimes, just wait until warm enough. Will simulate the oil moving through oil channels up into the engine.

Oh yeah there's definitely a little bit of variation but you're getting a good gist of what the lubricants are they all have different levels of anti-wear additives dispersants cold flow packages and other things what makes Amsoil special is it's 100% synthetic has a much higher film strength keeps the metal Parts separated so it clings to the metal when you start your car the next day you have better wear protection by having a better film also the other lubricants oxidized significantly significantly quicker as they oxidize the cold flow additives wear off and as the oil and lubricant ages the cold flow ability gets worse and worse Amsoil is different because it lasts longer and keeps its cold flow ability significantly longer that's what makes it different this is a big test here that will show you how different the lubricants are. ♥️ See Fluid Performance Tests - www.amsoil.com/performancetests.aspx?zo=5331179
