I live in Wellington NZ, Wind capital of the world. One year we had 233 days where winds reached gale-force (62km/h) Another year, a gust measured at 248 km/h (about 20k away from my home) and we average 170+ days a year with 60k winds. That wasn't a windy day... that was a Zephyr. Thursday I threw a disk on a flat field (preparing for my 1st tournament)... not only did it barely make 200ft... it then proceeded to tumble side over side in a drunken stagger, 250ft back... (not my worst effort... I added 100ft on a tee a year or so ago with an overturn that rolled down the hill of the previous hole... but that was beaten by someone else who did the same thing on the same hole... but managed to get 200ft further away from the hole than the Tee they threw from... (tho those were due to wellington being built on hills.). Something I have found with the wind... (and a playing field half a click up the road from me... Throwing cross wind I go for a flippy disk, Hyzered from my down wind arm (Back to the wind). and oddly... for a cross wind roller... throw the disk leaning away from the wind (i.e 1pm angle for a wind from the left)... The good thing about playing in the wind a lot... you never know what the weather will be like on that day you have to play regardless of the weather...
