To skitten, pure Herbivores are actually exceedingly rare in nature, most herbivores are opportunistic meat eaters.

You should also mention to your wife that herbivores aren't strictly herbivores. Most of them will eat smaller animals that they can get their mouths on, because an all veggie diet is quite frankly unsustainable. I seen deers eating birds out of the nest, and cows eating snakes, etcetera. Chimps may not be herbivores, but gorillas are close though.

Its not unsustainable. Its just that in nature you see something you can eat you eat it. You might not be made for eating whatever it is but you can usually gain something from it worth any potential stomach issues.
@lukekelly5075
@lukekelly5075 2 жыл бұрын
@@Merilirem true, but it's also for providing their diets with nutritional... supplements(? ) Full disclosure: I forgot the actual wording I was looking for but I think nutritional supplements gets my point across. From what I've read, it's proteins and calcium that drives herbivores into eating smaller animals. Especially calcium, which is why they'll eat the bones from carcasses.

This. Most animals choose a herbivorean diet, but they can be omnivores or even carnivores if they wanted to. The best example is the Panda. They are a type of bear and thus carnivorous by nature, but they still restrict themselves solely to Bamboo.

It depends on the animal and situation. Look up Michael Jamieson, he has a full ZOO house with 150+ animals, some cats and dogs, some exotic animals. He's a millionaire that RESCUES animals and treats them like actual animals/family and not just like pets. There's good examples of keeping wild animals but also very bad examples.

Also keep in mind when i said that I wasn't meaning it in a sense that every animal has the potential to hurt you, which they do of course, I meant in the sense that i just can't stand pets period. edit: Domesticated animals weren't always domesticated. At some point in time humans had to look at them and say, "I'm going to make that thing a companion."

The experimenter wanted to test the cognition and learning ability of chimps compared to humans. It was shown that the chimp learn much faster than the kid and they had around the same level intelligence until the age of 2 where the chimps intelligence basically "stagnated" while the child's intelligence took off. This result seriously wasn't worth nor did it justify the abuse of that experiment.

The closest thing that comes close is a (and I'm not trying to be insensitive) poddling from the movie the dark crystal. Fortunately for her she did get a face transplant. Only reason I mention the poddling part is because that is the closest visual representation for how badly that chimp injured her. If you look up poddling just imagine it with no eyes.
