Me as an INFP: I hate routine I don’t like doing the same thing over and over again! - has never redecorated my room ever - refuses to change my hair even if it’s just highlights - very upset when my ENFP mom and sister spontaneously adopt animals and bring them into the house without me having a say - dislike people in my room especially if they touch or move things around - eats the same breakfast every day I love trying new things but when I come home I like having the comfort of knowing exactly how everything is going to be/look. And now I know why my mom and sister like to move the furniture around every month. Funny how INFP and ENFP can be so different.

Me, ENTP: mom, what happened to that picture you had hanging here? Mom, ESFJ: what? Me: the one of the New York skyline. I just noticed it’s not there. Mom: oh don’t be ridiculous! I gave that to goodwill about two years ago! Me: seriously?! Mom: you helped me take it there!! Remember?!! Me: Oh yeahhhhhhhh.... ~me, after staying up until 4am~ I shouldn’t stay up this late again, it fucks with my focus. ~four months later~ Wow, it’s amazing how much staying up late fucks with my focus. I’d better not do it again. ~eight months later~ Damn, I can’t focus at all. Maybe it was because I stayed up super late the other night. I should keep that in mind so I don’t do it again. ~more time passes~ Wow, so it turns out that staying up until the early hours for just one night really throws off my focus for a week or so. I shouldn’t do that again.

Probable INTP here, your description of tert Si is pretty much on point! Way back when I first started getting into mbti, I was sure I was J type because I always found some comfort in routine and i hate "sensory" unpredictability; for example say someone texts me in the morning and is like "you wanna go out for lunch?" - those few hours in between their invitation and the event taking place feel like a disturbance to my "routine" or rather how I envisioned the day going. They require me to make a quick and spontaneous decision, which with Ne and Ti and blind Se is just a nightmare. Anyway, great video! Always a fan of your content. :)

I relate. I used to think I was ISTJ, but I'm actually intp. It's not that I need routine, but if I come up with a routine, I need notice ahead of time for me to feel ok with that routine chsnging. I can make a new schedule every day. It doesn't have to be the same, just no surprises please I tell people to let me know a day in advance when they want to talk so I can put it in tomorrow's mental schedule. I hate my plans for the day being interrupted. Don't get me started on surprise parties!

I got told by friends (especially one isfj friend) that I remembered an events details wrong XD like which place and date and even who was there or not 😂 . I tend to remember it in a more impressionistic way? The exception is embarrassing moments - those are painfully clear 😂 Oh I was also thinking about Si-doms and how they prefer to connect to past things. I asked my friends to think of a castle - and an INFP friend with her Ne answered; so what kind of castle? Should it be made from stone? Grass? Bubbles? 😮 You have to be more specific! " and my ISFJ friend:" oh! The pink toy castle I had as a child and played with comes to mind" 🤭 it's just so cute! 😄 And fun to see our differences! ☺️

People usually take note of how I only eat the same thing at the same places or how my closet is literally 200 black shirts with white band logo prints. On my end, I want to be able to explore on my own terms and having to deal with that minutiae just gets tedious and takes away from the limited energy I have for the day. Then just try! At first you're bound to make some mistakes but you just need to know a few solid basic techniques to be able to cook a great variety of dishes. Then you can venture on more advanced techniques if you wish. I learned mostly by watching my mother cook (and some youtube). When I went to college I started cooking for myself and it wasn't hard because I already had that basic knowledge. So, watch some cooking videos, choose an easy recipe, put on some music and try!

But that example that you gave about your Si-dom friend with the comment about starting your youtube channel sounds exactly like my mom. When I wanted to pursue art or media, she was saying how it's really hard to make a living unless you're really good. She discouraged me from trying things that she felt were likely to fail or doing anything that could be morally corrupting or dangerous. She's realistic, but also pretty spiritual/religious. So I was wondering if maybe the strict religion was suppressing her Ni. But I'm leaning towards her probably being ISFJ. She is really good at taking care of people practically....so I guess I just answered my own question. lol

so here's the thing. I'm infp and in my teens and while I do think I'm aux Ne and have a strong Ne I sometimes feel like I have a strong Si or maybe I'm in an Fi-Si loop (though I don't really know enough about the loops so I could be wrong) because I really don't like doing anything new that isn't just information. so for example I really love learning but I hate finding me music for example when I get bored of my playlist because I don't like encountering something that I don't know what to expect from it and prefer to stick with stuff that I've dealt with a lot (which happens quite often because I am constantly listening to music). I like routines because they give me a sense of stability in my life and make me less anxious but I don't like very strict routines like I also need to just do whatever I want but still have my life on track if that makes sense so in this way I don't quite relate to how tert Si is described idk

INTJ here, I suppose it could be better put in the following manner. I don't experience my memories in sensory ways, instead my memories are more like playing a movie in my head. I don't remember per say how I felt in those moments, but I remember extremely detailed pictures of those moments. I can tell when and where they happened by remembering the house I was in or the school I was at. So yes, while I do remember how I felt in some memories, those memories were not formed by my feelings.

Hi, infj here, personally I had a high drama, sometimes painful, colored and profound childhood. So yeah, I remember much of my early journey well... it's probably the level of significant experiences that links one to remember irregardless of Si placement. Sorry if this causes confusion .

Inferior Si, so goddamn true. My ENFP friend will activate his Fi Parent only a couple times for each new experience to judge "good/bad" but after that he throws it to Si Inferior and will NOT change his opinion!!! He hates MBTI because he asked me to explain it to him and at the time I was a beginner and couldn't explain how all the 8 positions and functions work for ENFP thought processes, and now he just tells me to "shut the fuck up with that useless horseshit" every time I bring it up. And I'm just like, "But it explains all your behaviors!" So my ISFP ass is having a blast silently judging you, hahaha!

How can a parent's mbti influence the use of child's non dominant functions? I ask because of my longterm issue with identifying as INFP but sometimes I feel more like ISTJ. I can easily get into Fi Si loops and I use past experiences a lot (others functions seems kinda messed up too: overreactive, overthinking Ne and unhealthy/harsh Te). My mother has very strong Si (probably ISFJ) and she kinda shaped my personality in many ways. Now I see some thinking patterns and behaviors that seem Si-dom like (or Si strong) so then I wonder if that is because of the mom's Si influence or I mistyped myself.

Si seems to have a better memory because they are more detailed when talking, for example, while storytelling. My ESFJ mother in law is sooo detailed while she's telling smth. Personally, I don't mind, even having inf Si. But my INFJ husband and even my father in law - who I think he's an ISTP but I'm still not 100% sure - ask her to cut down on the details and get to the point 😂 I also noticed that ESFJ are constantly worrying about your comfort. This is a stereotype, but I do see it in my mother in law and my mom. They're making sure that the people around them are comfortable. "Do you need another pillow for your back?" or "Do you want me to help you with the laundry?" just to name two examples. Idk if most ESFJ are like that ofc, but both of them definitely are, but my mother in law does it a lot more. Also possibly related to proximity, but I don't remember my mom being as much as my in law.

Hiii!! I reaaaaaaaaaally need to know if i'm an INFP or not!! Please help!!! I have so many questions! And since I don't understand that well about the function parts (I get really lost with that and English isn't my first language), but you guys seems to really know that, please help me!! So, the think is... Most of the tests I do I get INFP (all of them except for one) and that really makes me question it, because although I think I fits me, I wanna be sure haha and since you guys were talking about mistyping I got paranoid. The thinks make me believe I'm an INFP: I spent LITERALLY the whole day in my mind, my happy place, thinking about scenarios, and I love love love art, music, reading, poetry... I even write some poems (they're awful), and it feels like doing that FUELS my soul. I usually loses my energy if I'm around people too much, even though I like being with them because I really love them... And my moods changes A LOT... And the lists goes on. Thinks that make me questions if I'm an INFP: I feel like that in order for me to follow my heart I have to really separate my feelings and think logically, because I want to make the best decision, and in order to do that I know I can't always trust my heart. Basically what I think is: it's best to do the write thing instead of the pleasure think... That's the basis to almost every conscious behave I have. Plus, I love writing, specially my feelings, and I do have an journal. I usually write on it once a month (when I have something to write about), but is there!! And I do feel like I'm very logical person (I've been told!!) but I think is more important to have a heart on thinks, otherwise, what's the point, you know? I think this got messy, sorry!!!! but I hope someone can help me!! Thanks a lot

In a physical context. All introverted functions store memory, but different topic emphasis. Like an ESTP isn't likely to store in-depth memories of emotions or process emotions on a level that would create an in-depth catalog to bother remembering in the first place. But IFPs would. Hopefully that makes sense.
@jimiweezer5 жыл бұрын
Judging functions decide if something externally perceived is of value to store. Memory is recalled by means of introverted perceiving functions. Si will recall tangible experiences, data gathered through the physical senses, Ni will recall an idea or concept.

Calypso (or anyone here), do you think that it’s possible for Si to ALSO be good at detecting synchronicity in the events around them? The reason why I say that is because when synchronicity happens, the individual has to make a subconscious ‘comparison’ between two distinct events/sensations in order to associate them in some way. So I tend to think that one who is able to spot connections (or discrepancies) between various multifaceted events would find synchronicities occurring on occasion (assuming that the two events or sensations find some acausal relationship between each other). So is it possible that some root towards identifying synchronistic events may lie within the realm of Si? I’m very curious as to what your thoughts about this happen to be (especially as a fellow Si/Ne user).
