Mam, it's not mentioned that the machines need mechanics to work. My first instinct was to assume that the machines are autonomous except for the washing part (which needs a mechanic in the last 10 mins).

Hi Mam, In question 1 there is an overlap of 5 mins for autowash of car 2 and 3 but we have just one machine so how can there be. an overlap? Please help!

I think in question 3. How can the mechanic put the third car on auto wash when he is working on car 1 during that time. This could be done only if mechanic is not required to put the car on auto wash. So, my question is since it was not mentioned that we need or do not need mechanics to start the auto wash process how can we assume that the car auto washes itself while all mechanics are working on their respective cars ? I get confused in such cases. Please help

The time taken to put the car on autowash is assumed to be negligible.

To clear any confusion, you can assume that the car owner himself drives the car to the auto wash which is later picked up by the mechanic.

most auto washes have the facility where people can drive in on their own and press a button for an automatic wash. you can assume that's true on this case too. Also, what ayush singh said. Don't concern yourself with stuff that is not in the question. It's like thinking about the fuel cost when answering questions about time, distance, and speed.

in the question solved, the third question, the car C comes at 12.20 and its has started from 12.25 in the solution. So the car c leaves at 1.25pm, rather than 1.30pm, am I making any mistake?

Mam, I often get one lingering doubt in this kind of questions. How can we be sure that the solution we have arrived at is the most optimal solution? I mean, okay, we can see that it looks good but what if we miss something in the exam under pressure? Is there any way to detect that we have gone offtrack?
