Around 800 horses (depends on engine revision, can be upwards of 900). Very large V8 diesel engine. Approx 400 gallons of off road diesel per 12 hrs, if you've been running it at its ideal high idle set point, in hard digging.

heh. I'm not sure you Englished right. Or understood mine. The amount of dust they're kicking up is excessive, for some operational standards. I hollered for a water truck for dust suppression. Common industry practice.

Hmm !! I can see this being the way before long, cos theres down time with the Rock Truck and Loader system - during loading and turn around to reverse up to the hopper, but itll need a Massive Loader with a 40/50 yard / 80 to a 100 ton Bucket to be mega efficient, depends on manufacturing cost verses Loader/ Rock Truck ! which are probably simular

I spent many years running 992C's, then G's. Tell me more about the features. Steering wheel or Tiller, Levers or Joystick? Does it have the built in scale? Just curious.

Nice, quarry work or mining? This one had neither scale nor steering wheel and, if I remember correctly, the classic levers.

@miningshovel I worked for the City of NY for 38 years. 28 of those years at Fresh Kills Landfill. Around 1992, the City switched its operations from cranes loading Athey Wagons, Excavators (O&K Terex 400) with extended boom and 10 yard clamshell bucket. Loading the garbage onto the ground (concrete pit area). Where we (Tractor Operators) used 992C's, with a 36 yd bucket, to load 150 yd (specially modified) Payhaulers. We also used 992 and Payhaulers to move 'cover' (dirt used to cover the garbage). As well as track (dozer pulled) and wheeled scrapers. During 911, the City bought 6 992G's. Three with steering wheel and little control levers, and 3 with 'Tiller' steering and joystick controls. All had the built-in scales. They can weigh and count each bucket and alert the operator when the truck is full . As well as give you a running total of how much material was issued. Since the dump has been given over to private contractors for final capping. The City has sold all of the FKL equipment. Except for 1 992, 4 966, 1 322 with telescoping cab, that they use in the "Waste Transfer Station." (Also, a few road Graders that they use for snow. ) There once was 360 IUOE Local 15, Tractor Operators. (Working 24-7, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. ) Now there are 3.

@@phillipmoore6295 Okay, that's very impressive...I knew about the O&Ks, but not about the loaders.👍

The operator wishes for a rock truck to load everyday.
