I have a problem with the manual switch not working. Works fine on auto but when I switch to manual the light on my dash comes on but the fan doesn't. Any help would be appreciated. Had the truck a year and a half and it recently started with this. 2006 379 cat acert.

Had to watch the video again, sorry for the late reply. My guess would be that the manual switch attached to the solenoid is no good. In the later part of my video, you will see the solenoid with the screen on it. The electronic piece that I refer to as the indicator is actually the fan clutch manual switch. You could jump the two wires. If the fan comes on, the switch is no good. Just my guess.

I'm having the same problem my fan will stay on all the time somebody told me it was the fan clutch solenoid I changed it and same problem. I then put direct power to the new solenoid and fan turned off so it's going to be an electrical problem try checking if you have power to the solenoid valve before buying a new one

Diego Echevrria If its a E-model CAT check the temp sender in the thermostat housing.It also reads water temp and ECM monitors that reading and sends power to fan solenoid usually 210-212 degrees to engage fan.Also check all your fuses.

Also look at your pressure switch near the radiator. If the pins do not make continuous contact you will end up with a fan ON all or most of the time. Spread the pins a bit so they make better contact. This seems to be a common problem in petes. I've had a 09 and a 04 both do it. That fixed it.

cptdragn you are right, I've high-low pressure switch electric connection issues. now my fan keep on all time .

Does the radiator have to come out?

I'm sorry, that is the fan clutch solenoid, not the fan clutch switch.

Will changing a 9 blade to a 11 blade radiator fan cool the truck better? And what psi radiator cap you recommend I had a 7psi and shop put a 13psi.

Don’t imagine the fan would make a difference and my cap is a 15 psi.

I have an 06 international c15. Ive changed the selonoid. I believe my clutch is still good, cause my fan is tight, no free spin in either direction. I use to be able to hear the clutch engage when I flip the switch in the truck, now I can barely hear it, but I still hear it. Fan constantly turns. Any suggestions.....thanks

Greg B if it constantly turns, I would say the solenoid is bad or the solenoid switch. You might also want to check for air leaks in the line. My personal opinion, the solenoid switch.

Daniel OMalley I've cat c15 , first my fan was running all the time when engine is running either driving and or idling . today I've replaced fan solenoid . after I've replaced fan solenoid ,the fan clutch engaged and disengage ok by using manual fan switch, but generally fan running slow motion and temperature going up to 200f . so why fan spinning in slow motion? it doesn't blowing air properly?

The fan clutch is controlled by air. Possibly, you have a leak or blockage. There should be an air line attached to the clutch housing.

I got a 05 379 peterbilt the fan is stuck on all the time it's annoying when you drive on a dirt road and dust is blowing in the air

Usually that's the fan clutch switch. Sometimes if you clean the screen it will work again
