Cat cafés too mild for you? Try a bobcat with your espresso

You’ve probably heard of cat cafés by now, where you can have a cup of coffee and share some feline company at the same time, but just east of Halifax, Nova Scotia, there's a new twist on the trend involving bobcats.

Buddy the Bobcat was found in the woods as an abandoned baby and raised in a wonderful woman's home. He would open cupboard doors, walk in and come out another door. He would stand on his back legs and turn the light switch off and on. My wife brought him home to live with us. We only had him a month when a guy in the same subdivision complained and a deputy came out and said if he don't get rid of him, it is a $1000 per day fine so we took him back to the lady who found him 10 years earlier. He weighed 42 pounds and his front claws were removed, but he still had 3" fangs. He loved to sit on my lap and watch TV. His coat was thin especially on his belly. He did no purr, but he was a lover.

I hope he's happy there. It's weird to hear that rewilding attempts failed. I imagine being solitary in the wild might be hard to go back to after human interaction. Cats are a lot like us.

This is a rescued animal. Hope For Wildlife is a rescue for injured wild animals. The story said that she (Hope, who owns/runs the facility) was unable to 'rewild' this cat. Rest assured that Jesse is not "pet", nor is this a zoo.

Hope for Wildlife is a wild animal rescue. They will help ANY wild animal to heal, from starlings, to eagles, to bobcats. If this cat COULD be rewilded, he WOULD be. Hope does not keep ANY wild animals for entertainment or profit. So let your mind be at rest.

@@Another-Address most also work as adoption centres. So it’s a good way to get cats adopted as well.

We have a cat café here in Calgary. It is run by a local cat rescue organization - The Meow Foundation. They don't have bobcats but sometimes have cats they have named Bob :)
