This is cute, but also a *little* cruel if you understand how dogs think socially. The terrier plainly sees itself as lower in the pack (i.e. your family) hierarchy than the cat. From her(?) perspective, you're telling her to defy her place in the pack dominance ladder by taking the ball from the cat, and she doesn't want to do that because she respects what she feels is her position on the ladder, and doesn't want to change it. Or in other words, you're telling a non-dominant dog to act in a way she perceives as dominant, and that's both stressful and confusing for her. She's looking to YOU to take the ball and give it to her, because she sees you as the alpha, and thus you have the right to take the ball from the cat when she does not.

U read same book I did. Dog person with new cat so I had to research interrelationships. Was amazed that dogs don't see species as an issue at all. If the kitten was first ... he rules as alpha over a dog rescue. Might makes right don't apply .... we should be more like that.

The ears aren't down and the tail thing only applies if it's thumping really fast and aggressive. Cat tails move like that naturally.

That cat is completely relaxed, if a bit annoyed. I doubt you've owned a cat. It's ears aren't back in a threatening manner, but oriented toward the dog so that it can hear it. There is absolutely nothing aggressive or tense about the cat here.

Interpretation? Mine is simple, the Boston terrier is smart, the cat had probably swiped the dog before (when no one was looking) now the dog knows that the last place it wants it's face is near the cats claws, my dog would act exactly the same way in this scenario! When the cat stands it's ground the dog can not do anything. If the cat was in the garden, it would probably run away, and the dog would almost definitely give chase. Their is no dominancy factoring in here. Both are very cute by the way.

Yes, it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye. there's stories on yt about cats causing horrific injuries to dogs with a swipe of their claws, not only blinding eyes and slashing noses of poor dogs, it can cost $thousands for vets fee's.
