That's part of the plot, though, and it's more towards the end of the book. It's crazy that you had to specify it was by the author because Hollywood did the story bad, and I only know the basics of that one due to having never watched a film based on it. I found one thing using the book as an inspiration, and it's a Halloween Abba parody by some guy who used to work at Polygon. Everything else is movie-based, so I was excited that something was using the book rather than the movie.

Yep. I just started watching it not even a month ago. It's so wholesome, they have mutual feelings for one another. I feel like based on the guy being focused on more for looks, the source material was shojo, it feels too wholesome to be a josei, if I'm being honest. A josei would include antagonistic elements that aren't a warm spring day in Okinawa (though some would argue that 30⁰C is hot), there'd be something like an abusive boss or a love rival who goes straight into stalker mode, from what I know. I'm a sucker for fantasy slice of life shows and wholesome shows about adult protagonists. I thought she fell for him due to his reserved nature and politeness despite his situation. Apparently she finds those aspects cute. I like that there are a bunch of other part-yokai at the office, but their abilities are much less disruptive. I don't know how far you've gotten, but once the male lead's childhood friend comes into the company, the way the couple react to him is cute. I kind of wish the manga or light novel was available in English legally so I can get ahead, and compare, because I want to see more.
