That is literally what's happening with one of my cats and my roommate's cat. They already lived here and we just moved in. He was very interested, but she was like "why is this other cat in my house?", as if he wasn't here first 😂 But they're starting to get along and play together!

humans overworry about cat introductions. Probably because the growling makes them nervous. But the growling is both cats reminding the other that they're not a toy but another cat to be taken seriously. If two cats actively hate each other, You'll Know. I had to deal with a couple brothers who didn't always see eye to eye and had a couple knock down dragouts before the bigger of the two started leaving the other one alone. Screaming, fur flying, the works. They sorted their differences in time, but the bigger cat was a bit of a meathead and he'd still test the other one's defenses from time to time. These two liked each other pretty much right from the off, it just took them a moment to get accustomed.

I brought in a teeny little calico and from day one she ruled the world as well as her two much older/bigger housemates. She loves the siamesee, but won't tolerate the orangey boy. It's so fun to watch. Little boy tries so hard to groom and love her, but she's having none of it...Cats!!!

Eh, honestly this is pretty amiable. They go right to playing after a brief moment where both cats assert themselves. Everything after the initial growling is 2 cats getting used to each other, testing each other to figure out their places in the pecking order, then getting more and more comfortable.

My wife works at an animal shelter. She says this Is a good way to Introduce animal siblings. LOTS of supervision, DON'T force them to be best friends In a day and It takes LOTS of time and patience.

I had 2 male kitties long ago. I took in the first one when he was about 6 weeks old. After about 2 months, I agreed to take in a second kitty from the same litter. When I first reintroduced them, I thought they were going to kill each other. It was awful and I worried that I had made a mistake. One day I came home for lunch and discovered them sleeping with each other, curled up into a single ball. They were inseparable from that day on. When the first one had to be put down at about 14 years, the other one sunk into a deep depression and refused to eat or do anything. After multiple vet visits, we finally got him to eat again and he was with us for another 5 years. I have never seen anything sadder than that cat’s grief, knowing that we could not explain to him what had happened to his brother.

My bF and I adopted a sweet Black Cat that had been rescued from a kill shelter to a no kill shelter with 37 other cats. Of the group he was the first adopted. We named him Batsy and got him to be a companion cat to our other kitty. An Exotic Short hair that was a stray we took in cos the Cat Distruibition system decided she needed to be with my BF. Her name I Princess Titten. We were concerned she was having anxiety when we left for work, and Batsy also came to us in the right way and time via the Cat distribution system. Princess is a bit older and very calm,Batsy was 2 when we got him. They now fight like teenagers......... we hope someday just 1 time we can catch them snuggling together....... it hasn't happened in 2 years. BUT we see they positive impact they have on each other. Titten learned to be more vocal and to really play with toys because of Batsy. Batsy has learned that Hoomans are ok and that we will always love and protect them. They aren't Besties and never will be but they are good for each other and we are so blessed to have such great kitties. I just wish they could learn to be sweet to each other like this. Maybe it could happen lol but cats are cats. They are always the tiny furry Overlords to Hoomans.

Your very lucky with these two. I adopted a one-year-old male cat last July. My resident female and him cannot be kept in the same room. I did everything by the book to introduce the two. She's afraid of him. He will become aggressive but back down when she throws a hissy fit. A very sad situation as both are very sweet, loving pets.
