Thank you for teaching and playing this! It was fun and it seems like a cool game I would love to play. Also, I really love the way you do your ads. They are seemlessly incorporated into the video at logical breakpoints of the content in the video. They are beautiful cool looking and cool sounding and on point for the gaming hobby. Well done! Thank you a lot for your fun channel overall and specifically for these kinds of teaches and playthroughs.

I've been trying to get this game for ages, ever since I first say it on the Taylor's Trick Taking channel. The website I normally purchase my games from, seems to have never heard of it; I think they think I'm going slightly nuts. But now... now I can send them a link to this video, proving I'm not loosing my marbles, and in fact , it's they who are wrong! Great video guys, I've been so hoping you'd play this one as it's a game I find really interesting and different.

i love that the colour breaking for you is essentially just remembering, that if this were a normal deck, you have no more cards of that colour anymore - its brilliant and the clump building on the board adds another layer of depth to the concept of targeted trick taking - thats gonna break so many brains XD sidenote on the last round you played - i was really surprised when dave didnt play the 3 as red rather than yellow to take the trick... the way he was building the board and playing the cards, it really felt like he had planned to lead with the blue 2 at some point and that would almost have guaranteed 2 tricks (one from the trump and one from the blue 2) as well as a big clump in that area

I really love trick-takers, and therefore really love this game! But I think you may need to have pre-existing affection for the genre to really enjoy this one. It’s like listening to a live version of a song you love where they really play with it and take it in new and weird directions… very exciting for a person who has heard the original a million times, less so for someone without that familiarity. At least that has been my experience. Thanks for the video!

Note to others: write the current round score in the box on the scoresheet, don't sum them like Dave was doing. ;-p (There is a sum box at the bottom to total it all up.) I guess the paradox column is to note that it happened, in case a player got a 0 score (like Dave) instead of a negative score which would make it obvious a paradox happened.

The reason people play it this way 43:30 is because it makes every suit a little different. A green 1 is very tough to connect. You would NEED a green 2.

Do the tokens placed on the board during a trick where a paradox occurs count for clump scoring? Say the first 2 players manage to play cards and put tokens out, but the 3rd causes a paradox. You said the trick is ignored, does that include the placed tokens?
@nicolettabozhilova3125 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the tokens placed before a paradox remain on the board and count towards scoring. Only the trick is interrupted, so no future cards can be played and previous cards played are simply discarded.

37:48 at the end of the game, the point score doesn’t tell the story. He didn’t write the actual score in the corresponding rounds. He subtotaled in each round instead at the total at the bottom.

Why couldn’t Nikki lead a red 3 at the end of first round trumps were broken
@kallethen9389 Жыл бұрын
Because she could no longer play red as she had played non-red in a prior trick that was led by red.

However the audio level on the Gamegenics clips are way too high compared to the audio in the gameplay, this has been an issue in other videos you made since you started with the Gamegenic stuff, its really annoying when watching late nights and all of a sudden the subwoofer goes on with that music... :D

Thought this deluxe edition had a variant for two players and that the bidding process was dismissed.
@boardgamegeek Жыл бұрын
It does indeed have a variant for two players: Use cards 1-5. Deal ten cards to each player, then reveal three of the remaining five cards, marking those spaces on the green track (and yellow if necessary). If a player takes fewer than five tricks and doesn't cause a paradox, they score a bonus for placed tokens along with 1 point per trick. -WEM

When all numbers in a color are taken, should all players "X" out that color on their boards, since that color is no longer available to anyone?
@boardgamegeek Жыл бұрын
You can choose to do that if you'd like, but since no spaces on the board are available, you can't accidentally play one of those colors since you have to mark a space when you play a card. -WEM

Okay, it’s driving me crazy every time they mention how they want to bid 2 or how clever it is that they can’t bid 2. I just don’t see it? Why is bidding 2 tricks a desirable strategy?
@boardgamegeek Жыл бұрын
You want to make your bid exactly and often you feel like you can win two tricks - but you can't bid two, so you're forced to try to win an extra one or lose one that you'd normally win. The restriction on not being able to bid two is part of the challenge of the game because it pushes you into uncomfortable territory. -WEM

Me, before watching: Okay, cool name, but is it dead, or alive?
@GreenGlassScarab Жыл бұрын
Hmmm, you have a really confusing way of explaining the game. Basically you just have to imagine that you are holding a real, suited deck of cards, and playing a normal trick-taking game. Yes, you *do* have to follow the led suit ... if you have (imaginary) cards of that colour. But you can imagine that you are out of that suit, you can say "aw shucks I'm out of that suit..." and play card of a different suit. You can't later say "oops I found a card of that suit" - This is all just the same as a regular trick-taking game, with the brilliant twist of the suits being imaginary...
@GreenGlassScarab Жыл бұрын
The more I watch this the more I feel that you don't understand the game. You said that Lincoln could say "yeah I have blue in my hand but I'm going to play red". He can't do this. He has to declare that he has no blue in his hand. If he off-suits a red card, then he needs to indicate that none of his cards can become blue in future...
