The use of lifting was really interesting and worked so well for giving the soft furry texture! And the gouache really brought the piece to life. This is lovely!

absolutely beautiful!............when I saw this painting before, I thought that it was sooo beautiful...........those eyes are mesmorizing..............I'm glad that you showed the photo too here................I will have to watch this closely and practice my animal portraits.............I find them very hard to do..........your teachable class on painting the Ragdoll kitty Finchen was so good................I will often refer back to it...........I painted my own kitty, but I was not at all satisfied with the results.........not surprising for the first time round in watercolor............hopefully I'll improve with patience and a lot of practice : )...........as I don't trace from a photo, I find it exceptionally hard to do an accurate sketch.......that's only part of the problem, when applying paint, that's another challenge..............one past instructor told me to tape a print out of the photo on ordinary paper and apply tracing paper over it......then tape it all to a well a bright window, and eventually, trace the sketch on the tracing paper onto the watercolor paper...........usually, I don't like tracing, but I'm really considering it for these type animal portraits..........I find it so difficult to get the proportions right and end up erasing the sketch on the watercolor paper so many times, that I'm concerned about damaging expensive watercolor paper by just trying to get an accurate sketch........I know there are drawing methods such as "sighting", light boxes, etc., and even though I'd like to be able to draw in perfect proportions it rarely happens.......so far, I've only done one drawing in colored pencil and pastels that I'm satisfied with.............I'd love to be able to do it in watercolor some day

Thank you so much Jasmine 🤗🐱and I totally understand.. I still recommend to do your own sketches, even if you feel like you are not there yet because it's only practice that will help you get better. Using "tracing method" etc will slow down your progress (just my opinion 😉)

Thank you Maria, and I do understand your point............I also think it's important to learn to sketch and draw, in addition and prior to painting.........I am working on this..........but I must admit, that sometimes I've looked at paintings, etc that people have done of say, well known stars/performers that most of us have seen and know what they look like, and say to myself, how did they get the drawing proportions so absolutely exact?............I appreciate your feedback and advice, it truly is always helpful..........thanks again Maria : ) @@mariamorjane

Maria Raczynska Take it as something you'll miss one day. They grow up so fast so enjoy it all...even the lack of sleep. She'll be sleeping like a little angel in no time at all. Keep painting. We all love you and your works of art and I eagerly wait for the next one. Take naps when baby naps. It saved me through one puppy who woke up every 3 hours to go out. Not comparing baby to puppy but same sleeping habits that left me in sleep deprivation. It worked for me. All the best. Spasiba. I ye ukrainka.
