It is truly sobering and heartbreaking to know that there are so many people, dogs and cats who have to live desperate lives in the worst of conditions and situations and have to struggle to survive from day to day. I am glad that Cupcake the street cat got a happy ending and found her forever home. At least Doughnut got to spend the very last hours of his life shelteted in a warm, safe and dry place with plenty of food and water to eat and drink, experience the briefest bit of love and care from a person and be in the company of his lifelong friend, Cupcake.

We now have Rafa, 12, who is orange, and must be part Siberian, with a double coat of fur- found as a week old kitten alone on our tiny island of St. Thomas. Ariel passed, at 24, which is 120 in cat years! Orlando is 5 1/2, and she had lost ALL her teeth, but she is healthy now. Oberon is a tuxedo cat who loves Parmigiana Reggiano cheese! As a retired litigation attorney I fight environmentally with the local and federal authorities to protect our endangered sea turtles, spotted eagle rays and coral here, but I cannot do what you do, or I would probably end up with 80 cats in our home! Fortunately on this small island we have cat cafes through the humane society for wild cats, a catch, spay and release program with the humane society, and foster families for kittens, which is how we brought Oberon into our family. My husband, Dave, who is blind, deaf, has profound neuropathy, and diabetes (all due to Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam) , loves our cats like they are our children, and it cheers both of us, so much, to follow you. Doughnut was so brave. It sounds like he was Cupcake’s protector and did so to the very end. Rest well, Doughnut. It may have only been for a few days, but it eases my heart to know that for that short time, you were warm, well fed and knew loving care. Your brother is now safe, well loved and will never want again. Tiffany, you are an angel on earth, working so hard to save these cats.
