If ever you want to seperate the heresy, the rumors, the tabloid nonsense and all the other garbage from the facts about Prince, you can do no better than listen to CAT GLOVER. I am so glad Cat is speaking FACTS. And doing so unabashedly. So honest. So real. Exposing the leaches and snakes Prince talked about in one of his songs. She covered the dumb tributes, the "memoirs" about Prince that truly are more about the writers themselves. (Of course Prince was so brilliant as a performer and musician- it will be difficult for ANY performer out there to give his legacy true justice in any performance). She truly revealed why Prince would not have endorsed ANY of the stuff they are doing to his legacy now. And I can see why Prince gravitated towards Cat. She was a standout. She wasn't trying to be like any of those typical "prince proteges". She knew what she was good at and focused only on that. Prince highly respected her for that. As for beauty? If she only knew how many dudes drooled and stumbled over each other to get close to her.
@tesswonderful41944 жыл бұрын
I agree with some of this. But she was on this program doing exactly what she is accusing others of doing. Books are pretty much historical information, the same as magazine interviews, and radio programs. This interview is her book. People wrote books because the public wants to know from people who knew him. She is on this show for exactly the same reason, because she is Cat and she knew Prince. There is zero difference - paid or not. She will some boost from this in some way. She gossiped her ass off. Every now and then she would say "I dont feel comfortable.." but she still shared personal conversations. She named names and shared their thoughts. What did spilling about Suzannah, Sheila, and Ingrid have to do her? Why would she quote Matt Fink as a friend and somebody who feels like she does - and he is doing the opposite - still playing in the Revolution. Re the memoir, that was a contract that was signed while Prince was alive. He interviewed Prince - and he shared that information. The rest of the book was Prince's words. Re Paisley - yeah, she USED to walk in. He is gone, he doesnt own it, so why would you want to walk in now? Can you walk in anybody else's house because someone you knew used to live there? As far as money, what are they supposed to do? His music is his legacy. He is not there anymore to make $80,000 a night. We may not agree with everything the Estate is doing but I always ask - what is YOUR solution. Nobody ever has an answer. She said PP is not a party house. Exactly what is an after party? He gave plenty of parties. In the end - I dont know her, I never heard her speak before, I had no previous opinion. My thoughts are based 100% on THIS interview.
@keithbell93484 жыл бұрын
@@tesswonderful4194 - the solution is, actually was, for a Pronce to have protected his legacy - after his death- to ensure that his material would not have been tarnished and abused and to be handled in a way that HE would have wanted, not someone else. But that's all in hindsight. Your reply makes sense in so many ways. Nonetheless it doesn't alter my sense, that out of the numerous interviews covered about him after his passing, there are just a few that, to me, comes awfully close to revealing Prince's wishes and his views on matters. Cat, to me, is on that list.
@tesswonderful41944 жыл бұрын
@@keithbell9348 I agree 100%. He didnt leave a will - or they cant find one - whichever is true. That is why this constant conversation about what he wanted is pointless. There is no will. You can shout it until the end of time that you dont believe there was no will, but until one is found the Estate has to do their thing. And we know he told different people different things, he contradicted even himself, so who knows what he wanted.. As far as alcohol at Paisley, he did apparently drink wine. Again, we may not like everything the Estate does but they have to do something to make money, otherwise PP closes, there is no more music coming out. Is there shady stuff? I am sure there is. But at some point folks have to stop flapping their gums and present something that can be prosecuted. One last thing. There was always speculation about him taking a drug around the Black album. He never publicly comfirmed that. She is so against everyone else talking about him, she says, but she felt comfortable saying yes he did. How is she different?
@tesswonderful41944 жыл бұрын
@@keithbell9348 hey Keith, I also was not trying to make you alter your opinions. That wasnt my point or purpose. Yes, they were close, but again, he told different people different things ON PURPOSE. One thing he did imply was he did not like people thinking they knew him or what was going on in his head.
@keithbell93484 жыл бұрын
@@tesswonderful4194 understood. I don't agree with Cat on her disbelief that Prince could not have left a will. When I heard that he did not, I was not surprised. Prince was very forthcoming on how he did not trust lawyers. How he had a concept of "counting time" or that to him that concept did not exist. As if he was somehow impervious to its effects on him as it does the rest of us. So when she expressed that he absolutely did, what evidence does she have to support that? She didnt mention it.

I have no idea why folks keep ragging on one woman against the other. They were in different spaces at different times. I understand having a preference but I dont understand the trashing - from mostly women too. They were different people, different dancers, different relationships. Prince needed that blackness? Prince may have just wanted a great dancer, and she happened to be it. It seems she is the only one talking about blackness - that seemed to be her issue. Anyway, Mayte was just 16 during the Nude tour. When Cat was around Mayte was a pre-teen and nowhere in the picture, probably not even living in the mainland. Its not like they were competing against each other. And Cat LEFT. Cool. I guess she had her reasons. He hired someone else later. Just as cool. Different Bat time; different Bat station.

@@tesswonderful4194 uh Tess Wonderful This is my opinion! Can you understand _that?_ Just for shits &giggles, where did you read anywhere in my comment "trashing" another woman? And, as far as _needing_ "blackness", PRN thought so, too! The Black Album was supposed to be his answer to critics(mainly Nelson George, i.e., Bob George) accusing him of abandoning his black audience for a more mainstream pop audience. This is all documented, not something I pulled out of thin air to back up my opinions. You are right about different time, different dancer, tho. _I just happen to have liked Cat better than the rest of his dancers!_ Better than the Game Boyz, YES, better than Mayte, _and_ The Twinz! For me, and a whole _lot_ of other people, Cat was a breath of fresh air! *TO ME! Get it??? Prince didn’t build it to be a Shrine. He didn’t die without a Will either,,,He was too intelligent for that. Thank you Cat for this interview , I had wondered why we had not heard from you. I am sorry about your illness and Thankfully to God and your true friends and loving family who were there for you. I had heard Prince didn’t want people to know that he gave to many people who deserved a helping hand. I hope someday the true story about his death will come out and they will be punished. Good Luck to you in your future Cat. God Bless You. ❤️🙏☮️. 84’

Wait...Prince was with Susannah & Cat took the car & went to pick up Ingrid who he dated after that. He already had the next in his circle all the time. I did wonder about the cover too until I saw Cat. I didn't know The Revolution recordedSign O the Times, but he went on the road with a new band. I love Dorothy Parker. It's so smooth. Wendy said she knew he was firing them because on stage he couldn't look at them & later he told them. It was extra hard because they'd been together so long & hit mega fame together & they were all real friends. Later, he wanted some of them back & tjought they'd just be there but they weren't. She can't control her past images owned by Prince. Jerome is also Terrys half brother. I didn't agree with the liquor license either. I disagree about the releases. I'm glad to have them to experienxe more of his genius in a raw form/beginning stages. I hear his genius & hearing him speak and laugh on some things brings my heart joy of the great memories I'll never forget.

@@Gothicblackchic It doesn't sound weird. I think he didn't want her to tell Susannah about her. Remember Cat said she liked them together & Susannah was really cool. Prince bored easily & always had his sights set on the next. He & Susannah had a really bad breakuo.

@@LG-kx8xl lol. Any woman who dated him had to know his reputation already. His very first Rolling Stone interview talked about why whoever his first girl was left him - because of other girls. He admitted it. Lol. That was back around '77. Nothing changed apparently. The funny part of looking at Purple Rain is he was,sleeping or had slept with Kim Upshur, Jill Jones, Susan Moonsie's, Suzannah wasnt on the movie but was around, and Apples (she is now saying they had a romantic/platonic relationship - whatever that is), and Vanity had just left. When V left, about 3 weeks later he was with Suzannah supposedly. Lol - too funny.

FELICIA R. 😮. Well, Cat got married and had more kids with her hubby at the time. So Prince was out of the picture. Prince didn’t have any kids, but he apparently doted on his little sis Tyka. I’m convinced that is the type of dad he would be. Maybe 😉. He would love them so much but he would be overprotective to the point they felt smothered and stifled? That’s my take on how he treated Tyka (from tabloid resources 😆). My very biased opinion.

Great interview and I'm glad you finally caught up with Cat. I agree with some of what she's talking about. About Paisley Park, I only agree with the liquor licence thing. If he didn't have alcohol before, then don't do it now. That's when I mentioned a will, because you don't lay out instructions on how you want things once you leave this earth, people are gonna take advantage and do what they want after you're gone. About her not believing Prince did have a will, she hasn't been around Prince since the late 80's early 90's, she doesn't know how he conducted his business just like the rest of us. I disagreed about the tributes and the books. The tributes are fine if they are out of love and who's doing them. I agreed with her about just picking somebody because they are the it factor , but they were not fans/admirers of Prince. About the books coming out after Prince's demise, I don't see a problem with it as long as it's done out of love and respect. How is not ok for Mayte, Kim Berry, Mi-Ling Poole and anybody else to have a book out after his passed but Wally Stafford is an exception? She was around, but she has not been around in the last 20 years . So I can only really believe the stuff said happened from back in the day. Lastly I'm really disappointed about her meeting with George Michael, but I admire him as one of the best male vocalist ever. But gay or not, treat a woman with respect and kindness regardless of what your sexual preference is.

@Stephanie m I agree with you about somethings she saying. You right why Kim, Mayte and Morris Day can't write about their relationship with Prince. well,Prince was special,and he proved that..With that type of genius comes an eccentric person at times,so although people might not have loved his band choices,he WAS the band,engineer,and mostly everything else..The music business is a business,not much more,and it has gangster/criminal beginnings,so one has to know what,when,and how.So yes,people need to be mindful and appreciative of being a part of the Prince machine,and he put his home on the map,musically.At around 55 minutes,that's what Cat is talking about,about Prince,and why people didnt speak up while he was around.There's some cowards and dishonorable people out there,yapping behind his dead back,and everyone who talks about you behind your back is a punk ass wannabee coward..period...There's even people now,talking about a Chicago artist,and his personal life,running their mouth now that he's locked up,yet while he was out,they cosigned what he did,knew about it,and did NOTHING about it,face to face...thank you Cat for exposing these posers...
