Dr George Taylor III, Yeah..., I’m sure some of the reactions Prince had after learning of Michael’s death, was wrapped in Guilt. Listen to what Cat said during this Podcast. Even SHE felt Prince was occasionally mean towards Michael although, Michael was kind towards Prince and his group. Michael wanted Prince to participate (with the group of Singers) on the ‘We Are The World’ song.., Prince declined! Michael would later approach Prince to participate with him on his song “Bad”..., Prince declined! Michael recognized Prince’s talent and, wanted to work with the Man. But, Prince only saw..., “Competition!!” Even Chris Tucker shares a story of Prince being mean towards Michael...,when they (along with Will.i.am) were seated front row at a Prince Concert. Yeah...., I’m sure Prince felt a little guilty for mistreating Michael when he was alive.

I feel you. Prince in his heart knew Mike was a once in a lifetime entertainer. About a quarter of his book shouts out Mike in some way. I was surprised he was so honest in The Beautiful Ones. Also, he was determined not to be the Robin to Mike’s Batman. I am glad he came to grips with how he felt about Mike. Prince could be mean - we know that. Yet I also get his determination not be second when in his heart he felt he was equal in his specific lane. What I do appreciate is how he stood up quietly among his inner circle for Mike when he was down. Prince could be a paradox and this was especially true when it came to Mike. They both are so successful in death. Mike stays in the Top 200 - Thriller and Essentials - and Prince moves physical units like crazy.

Great comment, @Cherubim Bean!!! I _TOTALLY_ and wholeheartedly agree with what you’re saying, here. Neither do I believe these ignorant, stupid stories of a so-called “rivalry” between them, of an intense hatred of each other, of Prince supposedly having been “mean” to Michael and/or any member of his family, of him having been a “jerk,” or even _WORSE_ than that, to other people* (*as other posters use profane language and derogatory names for what some people wrongly _ASSUME_ about Prince’s attitude and overall personality, which I won’t use), and so forth. Nothing could have been any further from _THE_ FACT that they really loved and respected each other, at the end of the day. They were, and should be remembered as, musically-talented _EQUALS_ who just so happened to have been complete 180-degree polar opposites, as far as their public images and personae were concerned. One was no “better” or “worse,” no “greater than” or “lesser than” the other. Di≠erent, yes, but equal. To use an old expression, “two sides of the same coin,” in a very _real_ sense, but still should be thought of as equals. They each turned out to have had a whole _LOT_ more things in common with one another than neither the public, nor the media, would have ever known.

I _TOTALLY_ agree with you, on this, @@Thespeedrap!!! But, actually, you _could_ say it started to very slowly and gradually “dying” in the 1990’s, immediately after 1989, because, in the last 30 years at least, the industry had completely changed, fewer and fewer people who were coming out with their very first songs (or, album-releases) had any real, genuine TALENT, and a person’s image/personae became a lot more important than his or her musical ability. And, the rise in popularity of “ ‘Gangster’ Rap”/“Hip-Hop” contributed to this as well. Michael and Prince were both very much alive, back then, but were no longer at the height of their Early- to Mid-1980’s success. Not to mention that they would both go through tremendous changes in their lives as well, during that first phase of their “post-’80’s” period. However, in spite of these changes in their lives (along with the changes in the music business, and the ever-increasing acceptance of mediocrity -- the phenomenon of so-called “celebrities” who were and are “famous for being famous,” either because of whom they were related to or what “newsworthy event” their family members were/are connected with* [*such as, in the example of the Kardashians/Jenners, during the 2000’s and 2010’s] -- over authentic musical skills, even at that time), their music was, and it _still_ is, great. Today, except for a very few _really_ talented people in the “Jazz,” “R&B”/“Soul” and “Neo-Soul” genres (and a lot of the older-generation artists left who are still around, many of whom at their age _continue_ to perform and record, which is a VERY GOOD thing), the industry -- particularly, when it has to do with “non-‘Classical’ ” popular music -- is pretty much “dead and gone,” now.

Thank you for doing this dialogue where she got to express the truth about Michael Jackson and Prince and their friendship where they pranked and teased each other. Lenny Kravitz stated it as well in a dialogue with Naomi Campbell. People who knew Prince said that whenever he heard people demonizing or dissing Michael, he always got angry and reprimanded them harshly. He even threw out fans out of his forums if they insulted Michael. Watch the videos "Lenny Kravitz hanging out with Prince and Michael Jackson". It shows much Prince and MJ were fond of each other. And as for those who have hostile ideas about Michael Jackson, watch the podcasts called "Michael Jackson Case for Innocence", "Red Jackson Dance", "The Mjcast", and the documentaries "Square One MJ", "The Lies of Leaving Neverland”, “Michael Jackson Private Home Movies”, “Michael Jackson Take Two The Footage You Were Never Meant to See”, “Michael Jackson The Humanitarian” and “Loving Neverland”. I hate when people try and compare them. Michael was singing and making major hits as a child and sounded like a mature adult in his style and delivery, and Prince was at home watching,and teaching himself how to be a entertainer like, M.J. Yes price is a great artist, but Michael is the king of pop because of his great talent and hits. And the masses agree.

Album sales don't necessarily reflect talent and skill set. Mike is the man but Prince is self contained...played 23 instruments, composed, produced and arranged his own music! You could leave Prince in a studio alone and a few weeks later have a complete album! I mean a lot of intangibles go into someone's talent not just album sales. A lot of cheesy shit has went Platinum! But Mike was bad, but like Prince said his greatest hit to me was still his Off the Wall album!

Listen to the song Too Bad by michael Jackson. Sounds like prince did vocals with MJ on the chorus. And it also sounds like like it has Prince's blueprint all over it. It is said that Prince visited MJ in the studio when he was working on the album that the song is on and assisted with this particular song on the low.
@NewChannel90004 жыл бұрын
Where do you get these stories from, @Chris Gowers? I don’t believe they’re true, really. But, the idea of Prince ever having assisted Michael with the recording of _ANY_ song of his (or, with the two of them even remotely involved in ever having worked on the same project together AT ALL) seems interesting to think about....IF it were a reality, though. This is something new, here.
@chrisgowers80944 жыл бұрын
@@NewChannel9000 insider information. Sorry you don't have any and sorry you can't tell a Prince sound when you here it..
@NewChannel90004 жыл бұрын
@@chrisgowers8094, Of course, I certainly know what Prince’s music and vocal style sound like; I am one of _THE_ DEEPEST fans of his music, particularly, since the 1984 film and its soundtrack, “Purple Rain.” In fact, ever since, I have and will ALWAYS consider them as having been EQUALS in their musical talent, though their images and how they presented themselves to the public (the clothes they wore, the overall subject matter of the lyrics to their songs, the way most people perceived them in general) were absolute 180-degree polar opposites of one another. So, how could I _NOT_ know what Prince’s music sounds like? What I mean, is that I don’t hear anything even remotely sounding like “Prince” in most songs that Michael had ever worked on,* not even in the song, “2BAD,” unless you heard something I didn’t hear and couldn’t detect in the slightest. If there ever was a “Prince”-like sound to any music associated with Michael, this was because he may have been _influenced BY_ what Prince was doing at one point, musically, at some time during the 1990’s -- and, he probably had people associated with him who, at one time, also worked with Prince as well, _before_ joining his back-up band -- rather than any direct involvement in their ever having worked with each other. (*The closest to such musical and lyrical influence probably being the song, “She Got It,” in some way or another, one of those which was almost going to be on his “Dangerous” album, I’d give you _that_ one. But, even in this case, the song was more of the _influence_ of Prince’s musical and lyrical style on Michael at that time, rather than the both of them having worked directly with one another on a particular project together, or Prince otherwise having been involved with Michael as far as actual songs, albums, lyrics, or anything else music-related.) Michael had his own individual style, and so did Prince. They were two separate, _unique_ artists in their own right, who just so happened to have a lot in common with one another when it came to a lot of things, including their talent. I see them as having been “two sides of the same coin,” so to speak. Equal in many, many ways and respects, but yet, they were complete opposites. While it is well-known that Michael’s band members played the Prince song, “It’s Gonna Be a Beautiful Night,” during an intermission-break while performing onstage at the “ ‘BAD’ World Tour,” and Prince paid tribute to Michael and his music since Michael’s passing -- at least, on some nine different occasions, or so, especially during his own LIVE shows (my most favorite of such tributes being his remix/mash-up of Michael’s “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough” with the song he wrote for The Time, “Cool,” with wonderful Female vocalists having sung in Michael’s Upper Register, and Prince’s great “call-and-response” segment towards the end) -- to my and most people’s knowledge, they NEVER, EVER worked with each other on any project, as great an _idea_ as that might have been. It’s something that, honestly, many of us would have LOVED for it to have happened (myself, included), but it never did.
