a good tip for tanks: when your tanking riplimb, stay close to a crystal trap. when the spear is being throw get the dog in there. this way you can get both tanks to let the debuff drop without a lot of running around. this does ask a lot more of both tanks but works reasonably well when done correctly. this is a mainly 10 man tactic.

Jesse, great guide. I know this raid tier is fun for our healers, they say they have a lot more to do now. It was a challenge getting used to ninja changes done to this boss but once you get him down once it should be a cakewalk next week. Which is what I want all boss fights to be like. t11 had way too much RNG involved and relied too heavily on split second interrupts. Melee have a lot of responsibility this tier as well but it's more fun than last tier.

This is just to anyone looking into tactics. In my personal opinion, this is by far the easiest boss in Firelands. Beth'tilac is all about healing and execution, Rhyolith is hard due to its gimmick BUT its also very easy in its req. part, the gimmick you just get used to with experience. 1 tactic we use in our guild is: Nuke rageface and kill him asap, his dmg will be alot more than what boss will output with his extra buff, then melee switch to boss and ranged on riplimb, Shannox 35%, kill dog.

@Praxxz We resort to physical violence IRL. We also have a commissioner that levies hefty fines. But honestly, we tend to get irritated only when it's stupid or repeated mistakes, we raid two days a week and still strive to remain competitive, so we demand professionalism and expect people to be their best...8 hours a week isn't a lot to ask.

@Blackhammer99 We also had our top mage focus on Rageface the entire time until he died to avoid the major amount of damage he does on player with face rage. He was the most reliable to get a 30k crit the fastest. so we had no problem with that.

@Fablesim This boss dropped 2 Eternal Embers. Other bosses we have downed have dropped between 1 and 3 embers as well as 1 living ember from every 25 man boss. However, apparently 10 man has a much lower chance to drop Eternal embers, sometimes dropping 1 or none, and similarly dropping 0-1 Living embers.

@EasyEpro9 Smart move, however they changed the amount of damage Rageface is dealing upon focusing a target. Should make it much more manageable. Pretty much every time he "Raged a face" of one of our members, they died unless they had some cooldown to pop or immediately got a Blessing of Protection.

@Bradjg1978 i think what it is is that when riplimb dies, he no longer throws his spear since the dog isnt there to retrieve it, so he just slams his spear into the ground at his feet, causing the main tank to be in the epicenter of it's blast..which then radiates out through all the melee dps. its just like the thrown spear though, as far as i know, its just worst possible placement.

My guild downed shannox on Tuesday and we used a slightly different strat. We immediately downed rageface to keep him from causing too much raid damage and pushing more of the damage to the tank so the healers could have only two main focus points. Main and Off tank. After that we brought Shannox down to 35% and riplimb to 10% then downed riplimb and so on and so forth. 2nd Shannox kill on the server :)

Riplimb and rageface give shannox a 60% increase when they die on 10m. Just an FYI to anyone wondering.

@killer32112 It's the start of the patch, aka before Blizzard nerfs everything to hell, so it's not 'easy'. It really depends on everyone. If you ACT like it's insanely tough and are aware of everything going on, then it's actually a pretty tame fight, but if you space out or otherwise don't take it seriously, WIPE. Bear in mind this is a brand new fight, and a brand new tempo for everyone to adjust to. Heck, me and many other guildies kept tripping the traps. Either way it's fun!

@TwinkyDFTBA You don't have to threat dance at all. You can simply follow the strategy we applied in this video. We originally considered the threat swap ala Heroic Lady Death whisperer, but with reduced effectiveness from MDs and Tricks, we quickly decided to just let our geared tanks play the slots and try to remove their own debuffs. I personally have not done ten man but with the Face Rage hotfixing one of your issues, I can all but assure you this strat can work perfectly in both 10 and 25

We did this boss a lot easier. When the boss targeted the area with hurl spear, we lured riplimb into the trap so the tank didnt need to run. Was a lot more effective and all the healers could stay in range.

Gave this a brief shot today and I was wondering about the jagged tear falling off during spear fetch. from the looks of it, it doesnt seem to take 30 seconds for riplimb to grab the spear and carry it back. How did you increase the time? we didnt kite shannox away during the fetch so this have a considerable effect.

@Japskidin 10 Man may arguably be more "difficult" but each mechanic is far more forgiving on 10 man. Where something may kill one person in 10, it may kill 3 or 4 in 25 man. Respectively, healing 25 man becomes easier only because you have the room for extra healers provided you have everyone maximizing their dps. In my honest opinion, if 25 mans are so much easier why does no one pug them? Because it is MUCH harder to motivate and coordinate 25 players over 10, evening out any differences.

@alokpinto bubble doesnt work, the MT's stacks fall off while Riplimb is running an extended distance with the spear. No spear = no stacks.

Jesse can you upload a gear video, Also My pc goes to 0-4 fps in org at peak times but copes with all of the Heroic boss graphics with few fps issues. Do you think ill be capable of healing 10 mans without completely crashing my fps? (im on a puny laptop with the processing power of a toaster.

This is actually much harder in 10man, we just nuked down rageface immediately so that we don't have to deal with raid damage, and then you have to threat dance TWO mobs and just tank riplimb and Shannox and super heal the tank that has them both, when you need to drop stacks you just have to OT pop threat cds and pulls them both off him.
