The song is NIGHTSONG. Its arguably the best track in the entire Cataclysm game. Its heard especially on Mount Hyjal at the beginning of the Cataclysm Campaign.

I've missed it for some time: the goosebumbs that cover my arms and the shivers that run down my spine. Where previous Blizzard videos (for WoW) seemed to emphasize rendering splendor, this video is definately emphasizing the most important part of a cinematic: thrilling the watcher, refreshing the awe for the game and make them crave for more. Truly a magnificent cinematic, great job!

Mona Winkler because it was such a change lore wise from WoTLK. Every expansion since then is not based on previously written lore so all of the fans from the old Warcraft days didn't like the changes. The game play was great, the lore was ok. Lore did take a little bit of a hit quality wise up until WOD and now in legion it is back to the Wrath quality.

The amount of actual new content was microscopic compared to previous expansions, mostly because this was when the "heroic/mythic" cancer really started to take off. They would put out the same dungeon 4 times with differently tuned numbers and pretend like they released 4 dungeons. Not to mention how much content they took *away* with Deathwing's destruction. And, not to mention how much of the content was rehashed due to nostalgia reasons. Cata is frequently cited as an example of why "nostalgia is bad", but in reality the execution was just bad. Look at Classic.

I agree to an extend, but I wouldn't classify the expansion as awesome. It certainly had the best start an expansion could have, and things like transmog definitely helped, but the lack of content as well (this is my opinion) as the boring theme and uninteresting main antagonist really hurt the game. Wotlk was the best imo

well i think that's a good thing and kinda helped the story if you cared about it. It was simple peaceful and memorable and deathwing took all of it from us. That's what blizzard does better then most MMO developers. They make a world you care about. A world you remember a world you hold close to your heart and a world you will avenge. WoW will always hold a place in hearts and fond memories in our minds. And hey we got revenge on DW for what he did, 2 times a week for 2 months : P

Deathwing deserved a LOT more attention, for sure. I'd go as far to say Cataclysm didn't last long enough - it needed another raid tier, and we needed to feel that Deathwing was actually a legitimate threat to us. Heck, they did a better job setting up Ragnaros as the main villian of Cataclysm. And he had a vastly superior fight as well.

New music added (while the original music still plays occasionally), new/updated quests (with improved mechanics), new visuals with updated graphics (some zones had drastic changes, such as the Barrens splitting into two, or the Thousand Needles being completely flooded, or the reconstruction of Orgrimmar). Shortened dungeons with introduction of dungeon finder make it easier for casual players to level through dungeons. All in all, the level 1-60 content changes are good in my opinion.

WoW has a very long an fantastic story!It begins from 1st WarCraft and proceeds to Cataclysm!I always wondered HOW Blizzard could do so beautiful music fascinating plot and picturesque landscape!?!? Add-ons. Vanilla: levels 1-60. Burning Crusade: 61-70. Wrath of Lich King: 71-80. Cataclysm: 81-85 (along with an entire revamp of Vanilla content which was made available to everyone even if they didn't buy the Cataclysm expansion itself, thus the title of this vid). Pandaria: 86-90. Besides new levels/zones/dungeons/raids/monsters/items, each expansion also adds on other things such as new races, new classes, new primary/secondary skills, new gameplay tools.

took a short break and got 7 free days, they,ve made a couple of slight changes as per 4.2 and firelands in Hyjal is actually interesting and has a number of new daily quests and has brought back another ancient, Malorne. Maybe the comments i have read of a future patch called war of the ancients might be true :)

@kisftw Entering the underwater realm happens in a rather original way. As soon as you find yourself in the ocean, a shaman npc will help you to move around and breathe freely. It's been done in fabulous way. The region is very vast and expansive, but there's a clever solution to that as well.

I remember quitting wow 2 months before cata was coming out , i saw this trailer like a week before release, and i pre-ordered the game on the spot. Blizzard have epic cinematics , i imagine a movie from them being awesome - the music and visuals. BTW the song at the start is called "Night Elves". Epic song indeed.

@webb101094 sorry, I'm not sure what you meant by another reference of the song.Anyway as for the third music in this video,it is located in "The Shattering", towards the end of the song from the WoW Cataclysm collection of soundtracks or you can hear this music from the Cata login page,although the whole track is around 12 minutes. Originally the music was from the World of Warcraft (Vanilla Wow) Login Screen, but has been edited. Hope this answers your question, and sorry if it doesn't =(.

From not having firelands at launch (look on the blizzcon stuff, its there), to 4.1 (omgfail), to a 7 boss tier with no abyssal maw (still hope that happens someday) to the failure that is dragon soul. Here's to MOP bringing back the chills and epicness from Vanilla TBC and Wrath..

i had awesome times in cataclysm, with the worgen and the starting zones, the raids, the epic feeling, the guild, vashir :D, the revamped zones (silverpine in my heart) , the fun and challenging dungeons. sure the other expansions were more classic and amazing and i unsubscribed for more then a year but i think cata was epic in every way, and blizzard putted alot of effort in changing the world and update it and now with my panda and alts i can experience the epicness.

Lets take a moment to think. The entire mythology for warcraft spans with an massive history and setting, encompassed by such fine details, fine to the point of it sounding real (Lord of the Rings is a previous example of this deep detail). I'd like to think that based on the VERY strong theory of parallel universes that this reality can exist (infinite moments of decisions lead to infinite possibility, therefore warcraft MUST exist). Don't get all the hate. Classic was good, yes, but it was also a pain in the arse. I'm so glad Cata rewrapped all the zones, questing is actually fun now, you get nice rewards at the ends, you learn way more about the lore, not to mention everything looks way, way better. Classic was just "Hey im in STV but bring me 40 bottles from Hinterlands". You don't see that anymore and thank fuck for that. Cata is my fave by a mile so far. It's just...exciting.
