Honestly, they've been teasing us with this ship for 20 years and when it finally happened...I felt nothing. Still can't believe there was all that slow build up just for it to end up being so rushed I got whiplash...the creators fumbled it so hard it's not even funny💀

I think the issue stems from them not actually adressing that mari genuinely isnt seeing drien accurately. he might open up to her and her feelings come from a sincere place originally, but she treated him like a celebrity crush for a good chunk of the show and as a friend second. they try to ham fist her 'loving' chat but it came across as her just using chat as a way to avoid her feelings for adrien again and her still not actually thinking about chat's feelings or points of view properly. nt o mentin they had adrien find out about her feelings from andre the freaking icecream man in a out of character scenerio that makes no sense because andre had already learned in a previous episode that forcing his ships is bad and to not do that, he had been fine shipping adrien and mari with different people before(kagami, luka, self love ect) and it was also out of character because he had NEVER said names before..he said descriptions...eyes, hair, lips, personality ect but NEVER names. the show had made a big point that mari's biggest weakness is her inability to be honest with her emotions and vulnerable....building up the importance of her actually being honest with adrien and telling him her feelings....then yank it away by chat finding it out through ANDRE the icecream man! not him over hearing mari with her friends! or her friends telling adrien becuase they know mari wants to tell him but struggles or beucase they see adrien hurting by mari being dishonest. not mari finally getting the courage to tell him when its important for growth. Adrien falling for mari made sense..he;s had closure on ladybug not liking him, he's got a fairly accurate look of mari as a person from seeing her as adrien AND Chat, he's shown he is willing to date someone else and give it a real shot with it not being a rebound(people tend to forget adrien's interest in kagami was genuine enough a love akuma noticed and that him being interested afetr frozer showed kagami wasn;t just a changed target), we know he could like mari at her worst(as mari has way less filter around him as ladybug). they spent a entire season having chat realize that even if you no longer expect the other person to change their mind and like you that experessing you like someone regardless can bother them and make them feel disrespected. and him knowing as chat he has to lie and that could hurt the person he's dating and cause them to break off the friendship(kagami). so it felt honestly OFF that he was that fine with dating marinette when he should have thought she wouldnt like him back since she alwyas SAID she didnt like him that way to his face as adrien and eh knows about luka and 'buttercup' as chat. I get kagami and luka encouraging it since adrien's interest in mari being a possibility was pretty obvious and luka knows that adrien would like all of mari since luka knows their identities. like it felt odd they were fine with adrien dating civilian mari when his first breakup ended with him having to lie and it hurting kagammi enough she broke up with him and ended their friendship when he knows he still has to lie about being chat noir. and even if they use the fact adrien is more positive and he found out mari mght return his feelings from andre the icecream man it negaties the fact that mari lying should have consequences. and mari? she literally broke up woth luka due to having to lie to him...not about not liking him...and yet she thinks dating adrien is a real option when the lying factor is still there? adrien at least grew where we at least saw him directly know where he fucked up in handling his previous crushes where the show and chat points it out directly......but we literally know Mari did not handle adrien being chat well in a different timeline...and that adrien doesnt know about alot of the stalker aspects she has done where she doesn't really adress those as bad. and they try to bipass mari growing and learning what she did wasn't okay by trying to make a trauma that makes no sense canonically with the forced kim and chloe episode when they could have adressed that her new trauma was from getting tricked by luka who has adrien's FACE! and when mari faces someone elses feelings she only acknoweldges it to feel bad about herself instead of actually growing to be more nuanced about it! I want them to date but this just feel OFF timing wise! I can sense adrien genuinely likes her but I'm also worried because adrien tends to use romance to distract himself from his problems. and it doesn't feel like mari genuinely like chat noir yet either and she got pushed into it to some degree by luka and kagami and alya and others when she honestly had bigger issues. and it just bipassed the 'secert identity lying which destroyed our last relationships are still a problem and could destroy these new relationships'. something isn't lining up. not to mention mari's weird parallels with his dad still don't get enough acknowledgment in the show. like her willingness to lie to chat to get the outcome she wanted in emphereal or how mari kindof has a idealized version of adrien in her head that hasn't fully been popped and that she hasn;t gotten a chance on her own to get over her vulnerability fear issue since her big 'confession' moment got stolen away. and her now lying to adrien by not telling him about his dad and chat not being told yet either. and I STILL don't get why gabe was trying to break them up....Gabe clearly admired marinette in all the previous seasons. he knows mari is a good influence compared to others...like in chat blanc I understood it as gabe just loking ofr a easy akuatized target...his plan to force a break up...make mari akumatized...then if it doenst work he can just act like he was convinced and give them permission...it wasn't personally. but I honestly don't understand why gabe why trying to break them up again later. and it doesnt matter now because gabe is dead and drein is with mari and there still isnt a reveal. like this BETTER blow up in her face.

Well, it was always romance, just the most toxic ever. Marinette being a middle schooler doesn't justify her stalking and creepy actions, sure middle schoolers sometimes "stalked" their crush but never like that. Also it's worse when you discover that in reality she's a high schooler in the French version, not a middle schooler but English and French version have different systems for school years, so in most adaptations she's a middle schooler but in the original version she is in high-school and older than 14 since the start, meaning the show started when she was 15 and the time she had her birthdays it was 16 and 17, not 14, 15 and 16 like many people think. So she's pretty much almost adult with enough morality and understanding of wrong and right.

honestly it couldhave worked if they just pointed out that Gabe's personality was getting twisted due to misusing his miraculous as a side affect from using it wrong. amplifying your grief, guilt and determination to save a loved one over and over while simplifying your motive to make it easier to project onto other people since its not part of their original motive over and over and OVER again can NOT be healthy. gabe wasn't chosen for compatibility or mental fortitude or goodness like mari and adrien were ...or trained. and the show established that being even a litle emotionally off can have consequences like instantly shutting off your power(like mari during bubbler which was a defense mechanism to protect from side affects) or what happened with fu and the feast sentimonster tat went ballistic. and that using multiple can literally drive you insane at worst or take a toll at least. the final battle even had parallels tp the collector episode where gabe agreed to not tell adrien that mari took or returned the book, answered her questions about the book and was understanding and his genuine apology to adrien vs how in battle mari was the one agreeing to keep this information from adrien. he literally brought up not knowing if there was a side affect to akumatizing yourself! and honestly he has been getting weirdly more aggressive, fixated, getting tunnel vision and making dumber mistakes and doing more evil things that don't make sense for his original motive...this is really similar to how akumavictims get under the affects of the butterfly. with the issue beig that mari doesnt really understand that you cant really flly reason with gabe under the side affects just like you cant REALLY reason with akuma victims for long until they are properly purified. why didnt she just offer the guardians to help heal the mom so taking the wish out as the only way to solve the issue!
