Awesome review Tom. I was already invested in the game (played the original with a friend but never owned it) but I kickstarted this new one anyway. WORD ABOUT THE CHICKEN! The chicken is a very 'interesting' character, because running around four times may be useless UNLESS, your actively running into monsters and pushing them into positions where the other characters have a better line of sight on them. The chicken was designed as a support character, a handycap character for someone who is really good at dexterity games. Also... the story about how it 'got' into the game was because I made a joke about how "the chicken was my favorite character" and mistook the ally rules. Though there was so much positive feed back on such a silly character that they decided to add it in. Also, I contributed enough so that I could design a monster, which was the little blue dragon monster in the game lovingly titled "Roal" :D

Thanks for this review, Tom! I'm one of the kickstarter backers eagerly awaiting his copy, and to see your enthusiasm with the new version certainly increases my excitement. Elzra (and Kwanchai) have done a fantastic job remastering this game.

Got to play this game at Origins this year. The rule book was AWFUL, but it was the best gaming I did the whole week.

This does look like a lot of fun, I was unsure on the KS since I didn't want to pay $55 for a game I knew little about. It does look like Cube Quest as a Dungeon Crawl. How does this compare to Dungeon Fighter?

Tom, do you prefer being the GM (playing the monsters) more just because you like being the bad guy, like how you enjoy being the Overlord player in Descent? Or does this bring a different feel that makes you like it? Either way, looks terrific, and I am definitely getting this one for my family, and bringing this to extended family functions who are just discovering hobby style board games. They love crokinole, so I see this one going over very well.

I get that he likes being the bad guy. My question was, is it for reasons other than just the fact that he likes being the bad guy in games. Tom has said on many occasions that he likes playing the bad guy in games, that's why I'm curious.
