I've never heard of this place! Beautiful!! It's kind of funny the island has wild bison roaming around. I wouldn't expect to see them on an island lol

I loved seeing so much of Catalina in your video than I have ever seen of it myself despite it being in my backyard for over 50 years. What really threw me for a loop was the playground you came across early in the video. How would folks easily bring children to this area?! Two notes I’ll share given your comment on how green everything was. This is typically the last 2 months of our landscapes being green for the ocean adjacent areas in Southern California. We only get rain in winter and some in Spring (as I know your third video will surely show). After that, we go for several months with no rain when the hillsides turn brown. Second is that I will guess you learned that the bison on the island are not indigenous but rather part of Hollywood. The bison were brought over for a movie shoot in the 1950s. They plan. Ed and agreed with Catalina management that the bison would be transported off of the island when filming wrapped up. However, the movie went bankrupt and no one had funds to bring back the bison. Recently, the residents of Catalina have resisted having the bison removed (either relocated or culled) and this they remain!

There is a road that goes right next to the play ground! It doesn’t look like it gets used often but it’s accessible by car. I’ve seen many photos and videos where Catalina looks very brown. I felt incredibly lucky to experience it with this much greenery! It’s also why I choose to hike it this time of year! That is very interesting info about the bison! I didn’t know that! It’s pretty amazing that they are still thriving there after so long! I’m assuming the foxes were brought over too. They are everywhere!
