This is a complete walkthrough of Catalonia Yucatan Beach & Catalonia Riviera Maya, with hand held go-pro, and also using my drone for some aerial footage. I made this video to help anyone who has interest in the Catalonia resorts in the Yucatan area to get a good idea of what to expect! I hope this will help you plan an amazing vacation in Mexico!

@@BossLady-iw5hp Cancun Airport Transportation...and they sucked, after waiting about 2hrs, they came up short handed and did not drive us after we paid online, and we only got 50% refund...do not book with them they are horrible. Only use hotel transportation

Very sorry extreme late reply...did you have success flying the drone around? I hope it went unnoticed and you were able to get some nice shots. Although I did not see any No-Drone signs (or did I?), can't remember...I went for it anyway as I had no problem flying previous year from Catalonia Playa Maroma, as the locals were also flying...I did get approached at Yucatan Beach and was told not permitted on premises. So I went "off premises" by about 10 yards (the bridge) and just flew from the bridge, getting same results, and also partial shade from some Coccoloba trees!

@@tomascapecod5601 I was successful! No issues at all bringing my Mini 2 in my carryon and no problems flying from the beach at the resort (however I did do it early in the morning and stayed as discreet as I could).

Hi Tom great footage and very informative. We are going to this resort in a month. Do you think it is worth upgrading? When you said you had to move rooms. What was the issue? Rather have my ducks in a row before we go 😎

Cath, sorry I did not reply a long time ago. But hope this vid did help when you arrived. Too late now to tell you about room issue, but will mention anyhow. Was not major, but we got a room that was unoccupied for probably a couple weeks or more, and grew a bit of mold in corners and various spots, and odor unpleasant. The good, is that they immediately swapped rooms, and were more than accommodating and helpful! How was your stay/experience? I'd like to know. Since the 1st time we visited Catalonia (Playa Maroma) about 3 years ago, prices on all Catalonias have gone up about 80%, not unlike the rest of everything in the world though...Best to you

@@tomascapecod5601 hi Tomas I did a very truthful review about the hotel on tripadvisor. A great vacation until the last day when my granddaughter got salmonella and was so very ill. My son-in-law in the panic getting meds left his wallet in the hotel shop. We called from the airport and no joy. She had a two week recovery back in Canada. The prices have rocketed and I hated the divided beach/pool/bar setup the hotel is too small for this division. Our kids had a few amazing scuba diving trip and the hotel ticked so many great boxes. Looking for our next vacation now and it wont be Catalonia. Happy Travel and keep up with the videos .... great job

Good question! I may have had an immediate answer if I had seen inside one of the Riviera Maya rooms...to know if equal, nicer, or not as nice. That would have helped me answer your question! I guess for what I know, I'd say either! The Catalonia website actually shows the same room photos for the garden room, suite and privileged rooms I believe! When we go back to the Riviera Maya Area, I'll probably roll a die 🎲 or play rock-paper-scissors myself 😄🤔 The Riviera Maya side did have more guests, for what that's worth. The year before we did Catalonia Playa Maroma, just north of here, which I'd also totally recommend looking into!

Hey, in the end, really does not matter, surprisingly! You will be using all the same facilities, restaurants, theatre for entertainment, pools, beaches, tiki bars, it really does not matter. It's basically one resort, w 2 names, connected! Maybe less walking to and from facilities if you go with the Riviera Maya name, but just by some footsteps really... Don't forget to hit the fresh juice bar!

Thanks Phyllis! The lagoon side was just killer, lagoon paradise. We had several snorkeling 🤿 videos which we were so excited to share as well, but sorry, as i indicated in the vid, it got ruined, we were so bummed 😓 but whatever 😆 . Hey guys late response... you already visit Catalonia? You guys asked about beer...keg beer was probably Modelo or Corona...cheap but cold...they did stock up our mini-fridge with canned beer, upon request... I'm talking...ya just ask...hey...can you fill my fridge w beer? and they say....yes...on our way!

Did you arrive yet? Like I said, just ask nicely in Spanish if possible, to refill cold beer and they will giggle and be happy to do this! Or just say (aye-mass-cervesa-please?) hahah they will hook you up. but don't worry about a house party, just go and party with the gang!!! get your fill with great company!!!

Absolutely kid friendly! It's a kids paradise! There is even a small "kids center" just to have an area for a playground and activities! So yes it's catered to kids as well as adults! That being said, as you know, if you are a parent or know kids, there are always hazards to look out for: poolside slips, sharp rocks, water hazards, etc. Basically the obvious things to watch out for. But "in general" this whole place is a kids paradise!!!!!

Aw man that sucks you had a bad food experience but also good for me to know that. Fortunately we had a very good foodie experience, I'm not talking 5 star ⭐ or anything, but for the price we paid we were happy. I will keep your input in mind.

But hey now you have me curious 🧐 What was your bad food experience? Was there a certain a la carte restaurant that sucked, or buffet, or just in general? I'd like to know what you have to say... overall In general I had good stuff, but there were a couple things I was not totally stoked with but I rated it on an "overall" basis... I did come across some items that were not on par for sure, but just found a good substitute when in Buffet. A la carte was, for us, nice, although portions small. I'd love to hear more feedback from you!
