@@firstlast1047 oh really? I like a band so I don't know about boats? You can find quite a few videos about Laguna cats breaking, and about fixing them, and how Laguna didn't help much. They have some weaknesses. Sailing The Parlay Revival and others have experience with them and videos about it. Do you watch Sailing Into Freedom? Peter is having a proper catamaran built right now. I'm all for cat hulls. If you're a Laguna fanboy or whatever, sorry, but they're not the best boats out there from what I've seen.

The phone number starting with (757) is a Virginia area code, I’m from there. I find it difficult to believe the Coast Guard would have left the vessel adrift, rather choosing to scuttle it as to not leave it as a “hazard to navigation“. They my have chosen to leave it adrift because boarding it in a storm would have been more dangerous, but they were already on board to remove the body. Strange story.

They are all over. From Wiki: Due to ever-expanding risk imposed by transnational threats through the maritime and cyber domains, the U.S. Coast Guard is at any given time deployed to and operating on all seven continents and in cyberspace to enforce its mission. Like its United States Navy sibling, the U.S. Coast Guard maintains a global presence with permanently-assigned personnel throughout the world and forces routinely deploying to both littoral and blue-water regions. The U.S. Coast Guard's adaptive, multi-mission "white hull" fleet is leveraged as a force of both diplomatic soft power and humanitarian and security assistance over the more overtly confrontational nature of "gray hulled" warships.

Ok I'll put out my two cents based on my experience. The JRCC is the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre located at Halifax Naval Base Dkyd the centre is run under the Naval Command and works with various agencies in house including AIr Force and Coast Guard transport Canada etc. The vessel with the hull # 701 pictured in your story is a Canadian Patrol vessel HMCS Glace Bay a MCDV class. If that was the ship first on scene I don't know as I am no longer a part of the East Coast Fleet. I would say based on the location I would say it was more likely a Canadian Patrol Frigate cruising that area on route for a trans-Atlantic voyage. I would say it is completely plausible that Canadian Navy would have cleared the vessel and recovered the body, then liaised with the American authorities to have the body repatriated to the appropriate country. They would then mark the vessel with navigational lighting and report it as a navigational hazard and get on with their business at hand.

@@willowglenn great point. I am a engineer kinda gal and am not focused on those details it was a great to see the Glacé Bay that’s what drew my attention to the story. My ex-husband did a stint at JRCC as a junior officer so we talked shop back then. Interesting story thou and if I was still connected to that part of my life I’d be sure to have all the scoop 😜 lotsa action at that centre the guys do great work.

The worst anyone can do is ASSUME to what happened. If the captain did pass away on a boat and he is no where to be found why would they leave the boat floating all over the ocean which i believe is not how it works. The Coast Guard is trained to board any boat under any circumstances so no the boat would be towed with 299 foot tow rope.

no offence but all this video did was relay false reports from dodgy websites. Did you try to contact the US coastguard or the coordination centre in Halifax?

Crossing the Atlantic should not be taken lightly. Especially solo. In a 40 foot vessel. Boat aside… this captain could have simply had a medical emergency. Solo, he had nobody there to help. Lesson learned?

The most we can factually determine is an unmanned catamaran washed up in Spain after crossing the Atlantic with a message painted on the hull.

I'm not sure I believe the Canadian Coast Guard thing at all. I spent a summer sailing and living aboard in the straight of Georgia and almost every day someone was calling the coast guard to come help them. Usually to get their dingy back which they had been towing and was now hanging underwater by the tow rope. The coast guard NEVER went to help anyone. But when I was in Astoria for a year I heard almost every day some fisherman was in trouble and the Coast guard ALWAYS came to help.
