+matthlowder Thank you! I enjoyed playing and chatting with you. I don't have a regular board gaming group, so when my friends and I do play, it's usually Catan. I'm definitely open to other games, and I'll check out your recommendations. Currently, I'm also into Hearthstone. I have always played Chess and Poker.

I think that knowing you are going to eventually get the wood port and that Blue likely can't cut you off because he has no wheat or sheep, you should have built on the 9, 4, 11 rather than the 4, 11. There was no hurry and that extra wood will be huge once you get the wood port. By the way Nate, Dandy Drew says hello from the future!

i think not waiting to build on the 9 was a mistake very unlikely blue could have built a settlement with no wheat or sheep income and making your wood port much more useful

I know all 5 resources are important for implementing various strategies and building structures, but in your opinion, what would you say is the least important resource to have access to at the beginning of the game when placing your initial 2 settlements?

+Amit Bhanot Thanks for the question. Most folks would say sheep is the least important resource as you only need it (and only one) for settlements and development cards. However, if you have good ore and wheat (following Rules #1 & #3), I believe sheep is more important in the initial placements than wood or brick. Good luck!

1) Surprised that you took the 4-11 instead of building a road and hoping to get the other resources neccessary for the 9-4-11 (since you had good numbers on wood) - if you did that, your wood port would be worth a lot more too 2) But interesting to see how your main strategy works: appear to be a lot weaker than you are...

You always mention how ore is so important in a four player game, how does that change in a three player game? Are there special tips you can give for those kinds of games, because I usually play in threes. Thanks, and keep it up!

+Solstory Good question. I am a four-player specialist, and I have played very few three player games. With three players, obviously there is more room to build settlements. I have also noticed less trading (at least playing online). As such, I would believe wood and brick would be stronger in three player games.

+Neonate Gaming man you need to play it, it is good expansion and there's a whole different strategy in Cities & Knights. but it is alot better if you add Seafarer expansion.

Let's just be honest. You played against extremely poor players -- blue obviously being the worst. How is a spot like the 6/4/11 not taken by anyone on their second settlement when there's a free road to be had and a relative rare resource like wheat?
