Very interesting game, do you think there would have been any utility in Kaytwenty at 22:30 building two roads to cut you off to the wood port, would have severely hindered your game and given them one more settlement spot which would have ended up being quite valuable as they get locked out of any other settlement positions later in the game.
@Treeckosaurus4 жыл бұрын
I think so, I missed it during the commentary. It kinda depends on what Kaytwenty's plan for win-conditions is at that point. If he thinks he's has a better shot at road, he wants to keep the wood and go for the 4/3. If he thinks army is better, he wants the wood-port, so he has more flexibility for getting development cards. In both cases, both win-conditions are possible, but I feel like 4/3 sets him up better for road and the 11/12 better for army.

Nice grand final game, exciting all the way through to the end. I do agree that Basic Catan offers multiple ways to affect the outcome of the game, but I love Cities and Knights because it takes that idea and turns it wayyyyy up.

Thanks! Certainly agreed about your C&K statement. One of my upcoming videos will be a C&K Placement Guide, excited to make it!

I’ve found that in many Catan games that I’ve played and won, my most consistent win condition has been acquiring the strongest brick. For this reason I’d actually value 9 5 10 and 6 5 11 to build on the 4 3 giving you a road setup. Especially on this board when wood is almost worthless, whoever has the strongest brick has a significant edge I feel. You can also cut off the other players to 9 11.
@Treeckosaurus4 жыл бұрын
Would you consider brick the most important resource, Shades?
@shadesonbroadway4 жыл бұрын
@@Treeckosaurus early on, by far yes. As the game progresses to mid and late stages, wheat and ore are more important.

Hey, great content, keep it up. Suggestion for the title: Don't name it so pragmatically, it doesn't catch the eye. Something like: How to play: Low wheat, no sheep I King of catan Finals E20

That was an amazing game, and really bad luck for you. In you last round, you had a 47.2% chance to win, plus you had a chance of getting a lucky steal in case a 7 rolls. Sometimes Catan really is just a game of chance I guess.
@Treeckosaurus3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the games is like it. Just gotta keep playing consistently, and odds will turn to my favor.
@tobiasobermayr5012 жыл бұрын
I would've gone 4-5-11 wheat brick sheep first, because there is a ton of good wood spots left. You get best brick and wheat.

@@Treeckosaurus yes. It just doesn't look strong but is there a better wheat or brick?
@Treeckosaurus2 жыл бұрын
Ore and Wheat are typically considered more powerful than the other resources, because they help with building cities. A city doubles your production on a spot, whereas settlements only improve your total production with 7 or 8 points.

Is there a downside to playing the 5-6 player extension with 4 players with cities and knights? I've been playing with my family with 4 people and the regular size board seems too crowded. Is 5-6 extension board viable to play with 4 people?
@Treeckosaurus4 жыл бұрын
Never done, but I think it can be a lot of fun if you find smaller boards too crowded. I personally like having limited options with Catan, but with your preferences it can be better!
