Catapult For Chipunks - How Far Can they Fly

This video contains gentle flying of chipmunks used by a homemade catapult. Tested with real stuffed animals many times for accuracy and comfort ability techniques. No harm was done to these little ones. Only the joy to continuously come back for another air lift.

I understand, they started doing it around our foundation. Get some Tomcat repellent. Granulate . It's unharmful but does a great job of keeping them away. I poured some all around their holes and they relocated. Keeps them away from plants and flowers. When they get close, the smell bothers the sinuses

A few years ago, I saw something like this that was triggered by a remote lock control from a car, so squirrel gets on the platform, press the button and "ZOOM"!

I almost wish you could safely capture them, sedate them, tag them, and let them go so we can identify them individually. Like colored tags on their hind legs. So we could pick favorites and know if we're seeing the same one and identify them by name/color.

To reduce the misfires, suggest a deeper bucket for the launch pad. As was suggested to Cruze's Louisiana Outdoors, make it into an old style launcher and have a 5 lb counterweight on a 1:4 ratio piece of wood. Put the bucket on the other end to the counterweight, and that will give you 20 lb of force for liftoff! But, it needs to be operator detonated... Not sure how to go about rigging that...

You might need to increase the "skookum" of your springs ... send them higher, further, up into the heights of oblivion. Nice set up and video though.

Either much stronger bands or go pneumatic - and add a counter-weight, trebuchet style w/ the band assembly. They'd never stand a chance against a pneumatically actuated catapult, IMO.

You would think so. Surprisingly I have put out a motion camera over night several times at different times of year. Fall is worse. I captured some little mice and a rat at some points. But not nothing crazy at all.

Kenneth Klibaner I think it's fair to say no animals were harmed in the making of this video.... Look at them come back for more.... Just before the one minute mark you can see one feller stuff his face so he was ready to eat and run. They fiddled the camera and ran around the trampoline for sport. Try to view the fun the chippies are having, they keep coming back for more.... They no dummies so meh if anything this contraption should be part of an obstacle course they need to follow to their treasure of seeds. They have Indiana Jones souls in their tiny pee brain hearts. I fail to find anything negative here...and I had to pause until I stopped laughing to type you. It's a matter of perspective.
