You're spot on! Catastrophe is basically a sequel to "Cendrillon", and I absolutely recommend listening to it if you haven't already! If I'm not mistaken, the woman was from another nation and was sent to his ball on a secret mission to "unalive" him. But she actually fell in love with him that night. The translations differ a lot so it's not certain whether they survive.
