Thank you, this video is a lifesaver! I purchased a new OMP M2 EVO and Radiomaster TX16s at the same time, the new TX16s come with EdgeTX preinstalled an configured for the OMP internal Rx. Instead of just flying out of the box as-is and enjoying it, I thought I'd upgrade to 2.8.0 before ever using it. Big mistake... I didn't realize that I couldn't follow along with my Mac using the cable, it won't overwrite files that it says are 'busy', so I skipped them. The result was an upgraded operating system with incorrect control outputs. Go out and buy a MicroSD card reader and re-format the OEM card (or buy a new one) then follow the instructions in this video. It worked like a champ, all is well (back to stock). I'm leery now to upgrade to 2.8.0, since there are not many UT videos showing how to program the new M2 EVO with internal OMP protocol on the latest EdgeTX OS.

When I upgraded to 2.7.1 I somehow screwed up the max volume - or so I thought. With the volume set to max, I could barely hear the radio. I was at a loss until it occurred to me to recopy the voice pak. That worked. Evidently, some voice packs are louder than others, and somehow I got a quiet one. You've probably mentioned this phenomena in one of your many, many videos, but if so, I missed (or forgot) it. Thought I'd mention it here in case someone else does the same thing I did. Now I'm on 2.8 and all is well. Thanks to all your videos, I no longer have to sit in front of KZbin for hours before I touch my radio!

The stock sound pack from Radiomaster was sampled wrong (it had deadspace too). I actually found that, told RM and Edge. I think they've fixed it by now.

Edge is the made for programmers and not for pilots who want to fly more than screw around with complex settings and programming. I converted back to openTX on my Tx16s and am sooo glad I did.

Just not a true statement. You can setup a brand new model on EdgeTX in three clicks: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4S6eWqcaMSabKs How much you ADD to that configuration is up to you. The core functionality of EdgeTX and OpenTX is nearly identical with EdgeTX refining and updating core elements of the firmware and adding modern functionality that doesn't exist in OpenTX such as making it touch friendly. But--your money your hobby. Have at it.

Ditto on the SD card recovery - clock battery replacement and somehow the sd card got corrupted - fortunately only some system files - so all models still on it - copied to disk and restored back. Thanks so much!

Hi John, thanks a lot for your tutorial series and all the efforts you've been putting in. I am all new to open radio software (EdgeTX + Radiomaster TX16s MkII) coming from Spektrum. I already updated my radio once to Providence and everything went well. Now, I just wanted to update to the new firmware version 2.10.0 (Centurion) and it happens that the radio does not want to turn on to bootloader mode at all. All my attempts (T4 +T1 inwards + power on) remained unsuccessful and the radio would simply turn on and launch Edge TX in the normal course. Do you by any chance know how to fix this, and could you help me ?

Anyway you can explain how to fix a stuck in boot process radio? Centurion version, I've rebooted once and for some strange reason it is now stuck on the centurion splash page and goes no where. Took battery out, no change. Upon booting goes to the same place. Checked the SDCard, plenty room and my PC reads it fine. However when I connect the radio to the PC, the PC gives me the feedback that it recognized new device but have no access probably for the same reason. How can i get it back? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Beyond Catastrophic failure. Hope you can help. Tx16s opentx backed up, attempted updating wasn't successful. Loaded from backup but there was no sticks showing on lcd screen. Guessed at which Firmware to load from Radiomasters site . No luck. And downhill from there. Turn on and warning NO SD CARD INSTALLED ; the card is installed properly. Anywho corrupt sd card etc. Can it be salvaged? By the by, I have learned much from your videos, thank you for all the hard work.

The beauty of the tx16s is the card where all the data and the OS live. Even if I destroy my TX, I still have my data. Why? backups...

You can't recover personal info like model settings, but you can easy setup the radio from complete scratch as outlined in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZojRoZl7bJ1ggbc If you're already on Edge, just follow the steps shown to obtain the SD card data.

ok, made some progress. My radio is back to factory. But... USB still not connecting, :( I do get the pop up the select Joystick. Also, when I go in to Bootloader mode and then plug in USB to top of controller, I dont get the drives listed in Windows Explorer. Any ideas?

Hi ,I've a major problem with my tx 16s I have loads of images in my image folder, all good. BUT when I want to load an image on the model setup page it just shows me four models and that's it??? Can't load any other models from the image folder!!!! I have deleted all the folders and reinstalled them, But it's still the same!!!!. Any ideas Thanks. Keep them coming . Whats turn to bitmap for???

if you have only 1 model in your radio but in your SD card it shows like 7. ( happens often after sd card error and emergency mode) then add model2, model3text etc in opentx manually and you have all your old models back and your radio acts normal again this happend to me a couple of times. you start your radio and it seems things are missing, like your models but they are still there but somehow a folder gets stuck on having just model1 even after adding more models so if you find that folder in opentx and add the model names manually, it wil revert back the error and the models are visible again in your radio by adding those model names manually sound crazy but i have this happen a couple times after a sd error and emergency mode

They took it out as a standard option for 2.8 as so few use it. You can join their discord and they'll make you a version with the heli tab. I think eventually they want that to be a tab that can be turned on and off by a user. It's not "gone" per se, they just turned the tab off by default in 2.8.

Thanks for all your content. I’ve got an Emergency mode after going from OTX to ETX. It came in the first boot after pressing for too long enter button. Then never had it after that. Should I be worried ?

If you can repeat the error, you should report it to the EdgeTX team on the Github issue tracker: github.com/EdgeTX/edgetx/issues Otherwise, it's hard to say what caused it. Maybe an olde widget or lua on the radio...can't say.

Do you have a video to cover: if I think I really messed up and don't have an original back up from when your transmitter was brand new and just want to create a new sd card like it came from the factory? Outside of firmware, all configuration date is held in \RADIO adio.yml and \MODELS\modelxx.yyy So basically, if you erase everything in those two directories you're almost there. If you want a full reset, buddy.edgetx.org is probably the best bet. Just erase your sd card contents and install from buddy.

Great how to video but it does not work for me... I am using a Mac and have downloaded/set up companion software on my computer. When I connect computer to radio, the screen on the transmitter has an image of a USB with "USB" filling the entire screen. Nothing opens on my computer and nothing further happens on the transmitter. When I open the companion program and select "read/write" for the radio (with it connected to computer after turning on the radio in boot mode and then connecting it to my computer) I get a message telling me the program is unable to read the SD card. Can you help me understand what is going on? Thanks in advance!

Is the radio prompting you for SD Storage, Joystick or Serial? If not, make sure in System settings the radio is set to Ask. Try a different cable, different port, reboot, try a different computer if available. Once you have a known working hardware config with the radio and cable, your Mac should work. Outside of that, you'll need to get some local help. Unfortunately, I can't get involved in troubleshooting individual USB connectivity issues. Good luck.

@@RCVideoReviews Thank you for your reply. Yes, I was presented with the 3 options and choose SD Storage. Since this did not open any folders on my computer (per your video), I opted to use the companion software (2.3.15 version) to back up my SD card. When trying this method, I kept receiving the "Cannot find the SD Card" message. Using an SD card reader, I copied the radio's original SD card contents to my hard drive. I then inserted a new SD card into the reader, copied the data from the hard drive to it and then followed your 2.8 update video to update the new card. I placed the new card into the radio and followed your instructions with updating the radio's firmware. After exiting that window, I was presented with a "SD card not functioning" message. I replaced the new SD card in the radio with the original SD card and its old version (2.7) and started the radio. The radio tells me it now has the 2.8 update and all of the screens look like your video screens and the radio seems to be functioning normally. I am not convinced that all is well with my radio...it may be horribly messed up...time will tell. I have a submitted my original problem to the folks at Radiomaster and will see what they say. You can take the SD card out of the radio and use a traditional card reader to read/write to the sd card.

Odd that I've probably flashed every EdgeTX radio out there: Radiomaster, Jumper, FlySky and I've never had my screen go dark. Some of these radios have been flashed as a development box which means as many as 20 times a day for a week. Something must have really gone wrong in your case.

So with all that computer knowledge to a layman??? There is still no button for an original FACTORY SETTING RESET? That little 6 channel radio HobbyKing was selling has a FACTORT RESET BUTTON?Couple of times i messed up and used it it is some little radio for a laman, i purchased another one for my grandson and seam to cannot get hojd of the trainer cable to connect them together because of all this stuppid political bullshit going on.

No factory reset button on these radios. EdgeTX resides on SD card, so if you want to reset it, remove the MODELS and RADIO directories from the SD card.
