So happy to see all the kids involved with hunting and collecting, I grew up on an Island off the coast of New Zealand, we hunted for Crayfish, oysters, pippies, smoked Snapper, Flathead and Sole in tee tree, it was always a race to see who got the smoked eyes from the fish, so sweet and delicious. We even had a whale beach itself, and all the locals come out to carve it up and have a huge cook. That was in the 70's. We didn't have electricity so milked our own cows, ate our own beef, lamb and pig, grew vegies and hunted the sea for everything else. I still love hunting in Australia and fishing. I really miss the old days, so this channel brings back fond memories.

I’ve really been looking forward to this series with your family and showing them all you have learned, what an absolute awesome experience for them. The young fella is right at home tagging along with you catching food and exploring, so awesome to see, I do what I can with my kids but it’s nothing like I’d like too, later this year it’s on! We are definitely doing it, I can’t wait, won’t be as wild as I would like but will definitely be FNQ! Thanks for sharing mate, love it! Already looks like another different kind of series, but really enjoyable and informative! Hope you are enjoying your little break mate, you deserve it!

Thanks mate. Loving West Oz right now. Should get some waves tomorrow at some of my old favourite breaks. You’re going to have a ball up there this year mate. It’s so different having the kids in there with me learning but also having to worry about someone other than me. A little daunting but epic.

The Nonda tree was named by Leichhardt during his Northern Australia exploration. He said that it reminded him of a similar tree of the SE Qld forests and that the local indigenous people called it the Nonda.
