I usually make my fish broth, drain it into a container to store away and then that evening I get to suck all the meat off the head and bones as a treat for my effort. The stock itself I mostly use as a base for lunchtime ramen noodles more than anything else. But I reduce my broth down to a very concentrated level to maximize the flavour for when I use it in my ramen.

Chadon beni is what we call that type of coriander here in Trinidad & Tobago. It grows wild on every lawn and is a big part of our cooking. Happy Birthday!

My wife is Indonesian and we make this soup with the frames, it’s really good. We got a Philips noodle maker and make up a big batch of egg noodles. Reheat the broth and add some homemade fishballs in. Pour on top of the noodles and kung kung (type of spinach). Don’t forget the 🌶

I was raised in Alaska and we always fished and hunted for the freezer or the smoker, and canner. With long winters and un knowing future we stocked up and had food security,and could sleep better. I cringe when legal fish go back; not you just me and my upbringing. We dip netted salmon, and smelt “hooligan” by the hundreds,clams, and mussels off the rocks; canning the excess. Crabs halibut,eels,,snappers, ling cod, and cod lake trout: etc. I really enjoy your videos catching and scaring; “foraging” living off the land; awesome living. I love your love of life!

Happy belated birthday Rod, I realize I’m a bit behind, I’m catching up slowly. My brother and I spent our childhoods fishing off the coast in North America, in Rhode Island mostly. As we aged, so did our love of and for the Atlantic Ocean and all large h2o bodies for that matter. Along with the love came respect for the Ocean. The Atlantic off of New England has turned into one of the premier spots for humongous Great White shark sightings, no publicized attacks or anything of that nature as of yet, they’re so misunderstood. With that said, you being in another Great White zone, my friend, you’ve got gigantic brass… guts we’ll say!! I’m very impressed with your knowledge of your environment and your respect for the Ocean, and I know that you know that the big Great Whites are out there. Absolutely love these long-form videos - probably my favorite outdoors-y channel these days. Love the camping, fishing, exploration, and just general openness to talking about life getting messy. And I'm super impressed by the solid sense of judgement when content and safety come into conflict. I’ll always fish like this and keep it part of the channel, but the camping on islands is without a doubt what made the channel grow to where it is… I love to do all the things on my channel so hopefully variety and being genuine will all be a winner going forward.
