I have watched just about every video you have made. I'm doing my first french drain install and I'm gonna a do it right with these awesome 4" hi octane perforated tubing. I live in Sacramento California, we dont get the extreme freezing weather like you guys do but im all about quality and doing it right the first time. If you are going thru expense of hauling all the dirt away this is the best way. A++ great video I will send you pictures of the install from beginning to end. I purchased a hi octane french drain kit and a few other materials from you. Can't wait for it to arrive so I can get started. Thank you so much for all you do for the subscribers.

I wish you were in Virginia. I just moved into a new-construction home and with every rain fall I get anxiety watching puddles form everywhere. My newly laid sod is dying in the same areas. Builder is giving me the run-around. I have independent contractors coming to take a look but the French drains they showcase on their website look like they're destined to fail. I would do it myself but I am so tight on time and the effected areas are vast. I would pay a premium to have this kind of work done in my place for peace of mind...

After my other comments on your videos I'm interested in this and think this may solve my issue of the blocked fabric from the surface water and clay washing against it. Is it possible to email you some photos for advice? I wish you were in the UK! Is there a reason why you use the Same channel for the catch basin? Could I run a separate drainage channel and do you still need filter fabric or can I just install catch basins with a solid pipe under ground running to the exit? I think this will work better because its the surface water that has washed the clay to the fabric and blocked it and we have a spring also in our garden which is why we've had to do all this. It comes up from the foundation where we have had gabions installed so we've run the drain under the foundation but the water after rain isn't draining quick enough cause the spring is constantly flowing. The only problem is that we have had 12 inches of soil removed so all that's happening now will be underground and not at the surface so I'm not sure if catch basins would work as they won't be low enough but they would catch surface run off which may help? There's so much water the drains can't take it away quick enough so I'm not sure what to do about it to be honest.

I am finishing up a French drain installation, and the trench has been there for a couple of days. The area around the trench is still sloppy. It’s in a shaded area below the level of a pool if that means anything. I’m wondering why that is and what I could do about it. Thank you for making these videos!

I’m pretty sure it’s the result of a couple of problems. The yard I’m working on is sodded over, and where I’m working they just laid 1 inch of sod on top of red clay that’s not absorbing the surface water. The grass is also extremely thick, so it’s just holding the water in place. The area also doesn’t get any sun.

At the beginning of the system you have a solid pipe, peforated pipe both going to a drain basin. Why is the solid pipe capped at the end and what point is it there for. Its not collecting any water. Is it to save on cash by not filling the void with rock? Was there suppose to be a drain basin at the start of the system?

​@@FRENCHDRAINMAN i have a yard house in Georgia( second home) live in N.Y. my yard in Georgia has a sharp sloping yard. The front is flat ground but, as soon as you get to the front of the house it goes down hill. Seems almost 45°. We have all the drain pipes connected to corrugated pipes which empty out over a cement wall into a stream. If I put a catch basin like this can I put it in at a angle of does it need to be flat and level? I would be able to level it but, would need to be somewhere within 10 feet of the down spout.
