When I first started fishing, I would hit beaches and I would pull in bream and dart. I caught a lot. Over time, I kept fishing, I got better with knots and gear. I could rebuild all my reels and so forth, but then I stopped catching fish. I went through a period where I was staying out for hours and coming home empty-handed. I could not work out what I was doing so wrong. One day, I was driving to the beach for another day of disappointment, when a sledgehammer of a thought hit me in the face. I had become very good at casting! I could hit 120m.... I was throwing my bait miles past where the fish were. I pulled the hand brake on my casts and I started to catch fish again. One of those times when getting good can be a curse, but the learning never, ever stops. Now I focus my attention on reading the water.
@RogerOsborneFishing6 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing. I love always learning. 120m is a great cast!
@liquidsofa6 ай бұрын
@@RogerOsborneFishing Most of my casts were between 50 - 80m but every now and then I would hit a big one. It took a lot of practice. I would go to the local grass running field and I would line up on the 100m track and cast until I could clear the finish line.

Thanks for the review Roger, just a small correction though. Power output is measured in watts e.g. that unit is 2400 W. But storage capacity is measured in watt hours. So that’s a 1.5 kWh unit.

Hi Roger, I know the feeling when trying to cast soft plastics into a breeze. In order to go up a size in the jighead weight I find I am often forced into using a larger hook than I really want to use. The issue is casting weight. How about running a small ball sinker right down to the jighead to increase the casting weight? If necessary you could fix the running sinker up against the jighead with a lead split shot. An alternative would be to use the American 'Carolina' rig which is just a running sinker down to a swivel and then a short leader to your hooked soft plastic. Some guys over there use unweighted hooks on their soft plastics with this rig. Could be very good with minnow and shad style plastic lures. I'll be giving one or both of these ideas a go soon . That fish curry looks excellent. I used to make fish curries whenever I caught flathead to take home. The flathead flesh is quite firm and doesn't tend to flake and break up in the curry style of cooking.

Another great video , Roger. I don't like braid. I don't like the feel of it, the finger cutting feel of it, the knot tying difficulty etc. I like a nice shiny mono in all fishing, beach, estuary off shore rock wall etc As for the cooking, you've gone woke, Roger. Go back to never fail battered fish and chips!!! Must say it looks good but I didn't get any aroma??
