I actually saw this served at a place in LA. Maybe not that exact type. And there was one call the Broom fish that was actually really good but I think it's because it was in some Asian style sauce thing or something.

Last two trips out caught a Porgy at both locations. Johnson's ditch, and 59th St Pier in Sea Isle City. Those little Sea Bass seam to be everywhere since June.

Excellent video as always brother. Porgy is also pretty good eating. Don't know the regs for them. Caught my first ever micro species catfish, a Margined Madtom, Noturnus Insignis in local creek. Tight lines!

I used to catch leatherjackets in Sydney Harbour. They are similar to the gray trigger and taste great. Plus, in Hawai’i, there is the humuhumunukunukuapuapa trigger fish that I caught.

Ugh that makes me soo salty 😂 I live in Georgia now but I went up to jersey to visit my family and I was just in north Wildwood! I’m so upset that I missed you! It’s my dream to fish with you! I’ve been subbed since you had 13k subs! But when I was up there all I caught were blue fish, flounder and a sea robin

Another great video, Leo. You fished right in my backyard on this one. The creek at the bulkhead is Beach Creek. I’ve caught porgy there and at the second spot. Porgy were more common in the 1960s and 70s. I was at the sea wall just one day before you banging northern kingfish. The bulkhead is one of the first spots in the spring for monster spiny dogfish. Always great to see your mom snd dad too.

That's interesting! Two days ago I was talking with someone who got a porgy too! Wildwood too. A little bigger than the ones you got. I wonder if this fish got pulled out of their habitat by currents and wind or a storm in the middle of the sea? I remember in my marine science classes we would find Florida fishes from seining in the new jersey waters. They would say those fishes were gonna die in the winter anyway 🥶 (hard for them to go back to Florida you know what I mean?). Anyways, cool, and hopefully these porgies make it to next summer lol ☀️

I noticed you went from put it in the cooler to kill it and put it in the cooler, forgive me if these are stupid question but I'm fairly new to fishing and have yet to keep a catch. Why kill it before you put into cooler, I thought people just tossed them in a cooler of ice and let them die? And how does one go about killing it before putting it in the cooler?
