After my Mum passed away Dad sold our dairy farm to the forestry. But he kept 8 acers of the farm, had a barn built and lived in it for 20 years untill he sold and moved into town.He would put his net on a pulley and pull it right across the local tidal river and catch all the mullet, black snapper & flounder in that river. That was at Horeke on the Hokianga harbour.Isolation was no problem,50 kms on an old rough logging road into town once a mth to stock up.Thats how I was brought up as well. Hard yacka !

Lol i think the sediment from the forestry slash has decimated them from the two cyclones we had earlier this year, I was getting them from the Waimata but all the ones on the flats were destroyed. 🦪🦪🦪
