I am new to beach fishing but I have my rigs setup with stop knots for the same reason you do so I can adjust between 1 up 1 down or 2 up. Enjoyed the video I fish over Pevensey Bay at the moment and have found it a good spot to get my confidence up.
@rodsangleuk6283
@rodsangleuk6283 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Rokh &Roll. Using stop knots also means you can change hooks, shorten hooklengths / snoods and replace those bitten off by spider crabs with ease. Crimps are still useful though for snoods that you need to remain fixed in place e.g. the lower snood of loop rigs. I've only fished / filmed fishing at Pevensey Bay once, but will be back! You can tell me where I've gone wrong, if you watch my next upload, scheduled for Boxing Day 5:30pm!

@@rodsangleuk6283 Best place for advice on Pevensey Bay I would suggest going into Anglers Den the local tackle shop they will know whats working and the best marks, also be able to get your bait there.
@rodsangleuk6283
@rodsangleuk6283 5 жыл бұрын
Yes - I would agree with that - local tackle shops are the best source of current information about marks in their area. I fish near the end of Bay Road, which is directly seawards from Anglers Den.

@rodsangleuk6283
@rodsangleuk6283 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Saifoun - no these are peelers, but a lot of the time I only take their shells off and leave he legs on.
@simonpickles6811
@simonpickles6811 5 жыл бұрын
Nice bass. Are those peelers or hardbacks? Look like peelers but there seems to be quite a bit more shell on them than I think most anglers would leave. Also having the legs near the hook point is not conventional I would say, which is interesting as it seems to work for you. I also miss quite a few bites on crab but assume that it is small bass grabbing the bait. When the fish are a better size I don't miss that many. Not sure what you have found? Thanks for the video, I really must do splash point more often.
@rodsangleuk6283
@rodsangleuk6283 4 жыл бұрын
@Judge Pop - thanks for watching and commenting. Yes - they are peelers. For bass and smooth hounds I no longer take the shell off completely, as I don't think that's how the fish would find them naturally. I know they wouldn't find them naturally with hooks in them either, but we have to catch them somehow! Just my preferred method now; and like a lot of my unconventional approaches, it works for me. Best of luck, when you next fish Splash Point.

@@rodsangleuk6283 Thanks for the reply. I think the whole thing with crab bait is fascinating and you read a lot of different opinions. And as you say, the target species is probably important too. I also like to keep things as natural as possible and even avoid using elastic when I can.

How do you disassemble the rod after fishing? Do you remove the hooks and the sinker first?
@rodsangleuk6283
@rodsangleuk6283 4 жыл бұрын
Hi @E R - except for pulley rigs, I have clips at the top of my rigs, which attach to a swivel at the end of the leader line I'm using - so just unclip and store the rigs in a rig wallet / winder / bag. The sinker unclips too, but sometimes I keep it attached to the rig and the whole lot goes in the case where i store my reel. I'll have to show this in a future video. I attach pulley rigs directly to the leader line, so just snip the rig off just above the swivel. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.

What tide do you recommend fishing at for bass high or low?
@rodsangleuk6283
@rodsangleuk6283 2 жыл бұрын
Good question - I know many prefer low water, but where I fished for the first part of this video I tend to catch them at the top of the tide or just as it ebbs.
