It's a real shame to see how bad the fishing is nowadays i remember Deal early 1970s when i was a nipper . Cod galore i feel sad and at the same time happy to remember those days the fish and the people are long gone and i live in a foreign land , but the south coast of England will remain in my heart and thoughts forever . Thanks for sharing .

Good evening and apologises for a late comment...if been a little under the weather and just catching up.... Well was nice to see you in my back yard, the fishing has been a bit hit and miss, one day a few skate show and another they have disappeared...I guess it's still early for them to arrive in big numbers...enjoyed reading the other comments, yes sadly deals glory days are long past for the main winter species, although the thornbacks, and smoothounds still show and give some exciting sport... and the bass also add to the mix . Thank you so much for another informative and true look at fish nowadays... great job.

Thanks again Michael - one of these days I'll hit it right and be on the Deal / Walmer stretch when the rays are feeding. I also need to give it a go in the summer - I've had good bass at Kingsdown in early autumn; but also need to try there in the summer.

Pity you lost fish in a snag. The tide was certainly pulling! About to tie some loop rigs for some plaice fishing on Sat. Looking forward to the next one.👍🎣

Good luck! The weather seems ideal for early plaice.

Used to fish a lot near the car park in Kingsdown Road on the way to Walmer. Never used to let me down back in the 80's throughout winter time. Quite often the codling used to show with the odd bass thrown in. My colleague took a sole cod fishing here that went well over 2lb on a 3/0!. Amazed when the tide ran how much rubbish was pushed through, always fairly hard work fishing tide up and down there. Another place up near you were was in front of Deal Castle. There was always a snag running along a little way out. Steady pressure normally resulted in the rig coming back. I can only assume a chalky ridge or build up of marl was there. Anyone know if it's still the same? Thanks for your efforts with these venues.

Thanks Gary and its always interesting to hear about what others think about venues and how the have changed from times gone by.

Another good video.. I went to Manning's felixstowe the other night i was the only one fishing and the fishing was terrible so lucky i sat in a warm car. Was parked on the sea wall a cop drove along on his nightly patrol he stopped and said really you shouldn't be on here but it was 1AM so he was fine with it as i was polite. As said fishing was dead until i had 1 thumping bite just before i packed up, a near 3lb whiting. It made my night and gave me a lovely meal a few hours later.
@rodsangleuk62833 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that and well done for catching that large whiting.

Can you let me know what rods and reels your using I've got to get back into fishing iused to pump all my own lug at Dymchurch beach and dig white rag at North Kent when fishing matches 👍

Colmic 07 4.6m rods and Penn Affinity 7000 reels - I like the combination; but there are many good and possibly cheaper continental setups now. Thanks for watching.

Used to fish for cod Yorkshire coast 60s, but the overfishing of foreign trawlers killed that sadly. Great vid fella 72+ 🍁Manitoba hunter / fisherman expat

Yes - like others, I would love to see the cod return - in the meantime, there is little point in targeting them in the south-east, except from structures that stick well out in to the sea and boats; but I think even these have been poor. Thanks for watching.
