The real Frank Abagnale stars in this film. When Frank is arrested in France and put in a car, the older French policeman in the black cap and visor who leads Frank is him.

As someone who initially subscribed to you for your James Bond reactions, I loved this.

23:31 Amy Adams character was not a nurse. She was a "candy striper" - so called because of the red and white striped uniforms they wore so patients would not confuse them with actual medical staff. Candy stripers are unpaid volunteers usually of high school or college age (hence her braces) and she still lives at home with her parents. Candy stripers typically perform light clerical and administrative tasks, transport patients and assist visitors.

Candy stripers often went on to become student nurses, which also wore distinctive uniforms. I really miss them. You could always get a student nurse or candy striper to do little errands for you.

It is based on a real life person but he later admitted it was a lie & never happened. Correction; most of it happened but not all of it. Read comments for corrections

Really, I always read that parts of it was not true. Not all of it. I mean he certainly went to prison for something Just did some research and apparently 80% is supposed to be true which is pretty consistent with most "true" movies. The real interesting story is how this con man is glorified for being a fraud.
@TheFalconerNZ11 ай бұрын
@@Xfactor444-x4n I will have to look it up as it was in a YT video short that I heard that it never happened so maybe you are correct that most of it is true. If I remember rightly it was the pilot & doctor sections that were false.

Great film, but yeah it's not a true story. He was actually in prison for most of the period of these antics. Look up 'The Real Catch Me If You Can' podcast. Abagnale actually refuses to talk about his claimed past now since he's been found out. The internet and the availability of information has really caught up with him as he's now exposed. He's obviously just very charming as nobody bothered to check his claims in 1980 when the book first came out.

Frank was such a good imposter, he posed as a genuine imposter. He also apparently never worked for the FBI after his capture either.
@lizd294311 ай бұрын
All of his exploits are either made up or highly exaggerated. Frank Abegnale was a small time con artist who became a big time con artist through conning people into believing he had been a big time con artist. How meta!
@Flix2Us11 ай бұрын
Absolutely! And that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the story.

If you want a Tom Hanks movie full of wacky stuff that really did happen, check out Charlie Wilson's War. It's criminally underrated and also has Amy Adams.@@Flix2Us

Fun reaction...though, I am pretty sure that Kelly Preston does not appear at all. It seems like you thought she played "Miggy Acker"...but the person who played that part was played by Amy Acker. 😁
@Flix2Us11 ай бұрын
Just looked it up on IMDB. It's Jaime Ray Newman who plays one of the women Frank brings to the airport. If you look at pictures of them side-by-side, they could be sisters.

@@Flix2Us Yeah...wow...you are right about that...I can see why you thought that was Kelly Preston.

Great reaction guys (as usual). If you haven’t seen it, check out Christopher Walken’s acting in “Deer Hunter,” one of the great classic American anti-war films. Best Picture winner and a standout performance by Walken-and DeNiro, and John Savage, and John Cazale and his girlfriend, one Meryl Streep). It’s the film Walken won his only Oscar (for Best Supporting Actor).

Also, if you haven’t seen it, check out “Peppermint.” Jennifer Garner as a vengeful, bad ass in the John Wick-Taken-Equalizer mold. Fun times.
